Aesthetics, video games, and t r a s h.

I used to make video game retrospectives as Diablodave363, then did crude let's plays of rule 34 fan games.

Now I just dig up trash on the internet.

I loved that mall. shame what computers/cell phones did, and are doing. everyone is afraid of their shadows, and have no clue of shopping, or things of face value. we can also thank porch pirates for taking your stuff too

The stats indicate the small opened in 1974, but I could’ve sworn it was closer to around 1971. I remember getting school clothes there the year it opened. In the day, this was a great mall. It had Bradlees on one side, and Almy’s on the other. Outside of Bradley‘s on the left was a RadioShack and beside that was a GNC (now in a different location), across the hall was the Newport creamery. As you went further into the mall, there was a Tobacco store, and I remember it selling Playboy magazines on the side, near the glass looking out towards the mall, and the boys in school used to talk about having easy access to them. The mall had a great record store in one wing, it had a great GAP store and a nice bookstore. The restaurants in the mall at the time were Thackery’s, Pewter Pot, Newport creamery, and a Papa Gino’s. I remember Bradleys at the height of the disco era, they had a great record department, we all bought vinyl then, and some of us bought 8 track tapes. Amy’s was probably a bit more upscale, and also had a small restaurant inside the store. There were no game room stores in the mall at the time, and no restaurants in the parking lot.

Hey man. Are you still active here? I've love to ask you some question. I've been trying to hunt down an archive of ANYONE that has your old Diablodave363 videos. You were a favorite of mine as a kid lol. Please get back to me. Unfortunately I dont think you were big enough to have people archive all your videos but I'm hoping I can be proved wrong.

How have no idea how this upsets me emotionally. I used to go to the Berkshire Mall in the late ‘80s early ‘90s and it was thriving at the time. It was packed. Now that it’s closed it’s heart breaking. It’s a sure bet that online shopping has killed the malls. Just think of every employee that has lost his or her jobs because of online shopping, literally thousands of individuals. It’s a crying shame. Memories is all we have left if the Berkshire Mall.

most of the walpole mall is outdoor-driven, and can’t be accessed from the inside. the sadness is only really on the inside, plus all of us go to braintree anyways. oh, and the old country buffet became a cheap winery

I grew up in Walpole. I remember when that mall opened. Thackerys was a popular bar in the 70's. It was very popular in the day. Times have changed. Opened in the mid 70's. I graduated from Walpole High in 76.

The space that was the OCB is now a big wine store. And that space at the end next to Barnes & Noble was Jo-Ann Fabrics, which was one of the original anchor stores for Walpole Mall, the other being Bradlees, which was replaced by Kohl's.
@Amanda.7
@Amanda.7 4 года назад
I remember when i was a kid the wall by dream machine with the coin operated machines used to be an entrance into Kohl’s, and there was also a fountain over there 🥺 I haven’t been on the inside in a while but it really is sad to see it so dead (and at the same time, fascinating)

Malls and big retail stores will become extinct in the next 50 years, the new generation will buy mostly online or from specialty smaller stores that caters to their specific taste. Lululemon is a perfect example of that.

I used to spend quite a bit of time at this mall back in the day. This mall started going downhill once the Emerald Square mall opened in N. Attleboro. My friends and I used to go there and hang out, spending time at RadioShack, Newport Creamery, Papa Gino's, Walden's(?) book store, Strawberries Records, and the pet store. I don't recall that there was a Dream Machine back then, because I usually associate that memory with another mall in RI. Really, when you wanted to play video games back then, you went to Run and Games in Natick or Mr. G's Arcade in Attleboro (though Fun and Games was Waaaaaaaaayyy better).

When this was filmed the mall was getting shut down as of today it’s permanently gone. If he took a video of this place 6 years ago it would actually look like a real mall just a lot smaller. It had plenty of people and plenty of stores, but when he filmed this it was practically vacant as the mall was getting ready to close down permanently. If that’s not obvious enough in the video.

Richie O'Brien Are you a fucking idiot? The video is called “dead malls” did you not watch the video? The original Walpole mall which was actually a real mall for a very long time was closed down due to it falling apart which is what this video shows there were 3 stores open. Now it’s a little renovated strip mall at best with a bunch of shit that’s mostly outside with the biggest attraction being the Taco Bell in the parking lot. It’s not a real mall anymore south shore plaza in Braintree is a “mall”.
@P_RoC45
@P_RoC45 4 года назад
Jack Stalcup It’s never that packed it does well though. it’s a tiny newly renovated strip mall the restaurants do good. It’s deff not dead like this video shows it got renovated but it’s no where near where it used to be in attraction. 6 or 7 years ago you couldn’t find a parking spot and the place would be packed. Calling this a mall would be like calling the Dedham mall a mall it’s really a glorified plaza.
