The police are just following orders. The mayor must have some sense to understand what is happening. New Orleans is synonymous with music, without music, especially spontaneous music, that city would not exist.
Merci, James, pour cette nouvelle vidéo du 29 février🙏 Tout le groupe est dans une grande forme, particulièrement Shaye dont les interventions sont éblouissantes. Encore merci et, toujours, bonjour de Lausanne😄
Many thanks, James. It's always a pleasure to hear them playing this Johnny St. Cyr composition from 1926. It has been a staple of their repertoire for at least ten years: they recorded it in 2014 on their 'Owl Call Blues' CD. It has an Introduction in D minor, then at 00:14 a 16-bar theme still in that key, followed at 00:32 by 16-bar linking theme in F before it delivers the Main Theme (at 00:50, trombone-led the first time), also in F. In this performance, they play through this Main 32-bar Theme twice and then revisit the D minor theme (led at 02:05 by Todd) and the link theme again before Shaye at 02:43 launches into her improvisation (always exciting, against those stop chords) over the first 12 bars of the Main Theme, with Robin leading the final 16 bars. At 03:21, the entire band storms through the Main Theme for the final time, completing it with their familiar well-rehearsed Coda.
at first i thought this was going to be a joke, like the cops were gonna bust a move any second now. i have lived in Louisiana my entire life and i have Never seen anything like this happen before in New Orleans. what are they thinking?
Love these guys, refreshing to see a lady on Banjo. I grew up on trad here in England where Barber, Bilk and Ball who had no.1 hits around the world. Tuba Skinney are amongst the best, Erika there is no one better. Meshiya Lake lead me onto Erika and Sarah. Keep up the great music I never tire of it after 16 years. Wonderful 😊
I’m an 82 Years old English drummer still working and have just discovered this fabulous band love the washboard played one of these in the 1950s in a skiffle band
I always enjoy Greg's vocals as his voice really suits the blues- jazz-country songs and such a pleasure to see and hear Molly Reeves playing with the band. I wondered if she was mic'd up enough as I couldn't spot one near her. Compliments to Shaye and the rest of the band as they played tight with their usual unison.
