I believe AMG purposely made the CLS more sporty than the S55 and E55 though it supposedly has less power than the SL, CL, and S variants of the M113k.. both the E55 n CLS are suppose to be 469hp but both quicker than the lighter S55 . the CLS is suppose to do 0-60 in 4.3 sec, 1/4 12.5 sec.. while the best times I’m seeing for S55 is 4.4, 12.6.. it’s close so I’d say this is accurate.. I’m sure the CLS may even have a higher top speed ungoverned. I drive a 06 S55.. both are still undoubtedly examples of sports cars from MB and are fun at low and high speeds especially with an exhaust !
I believe 469hp for cls/E class is more like a marketing. I am saying this because both cars have deleted cats only. Both have less than 60 000km odo. We dynod them same day and cls put 399 whp, while s class 397whp. This means both cars have same output. Cls has less weight, I believe this make it a bit faster.
Oooh, so the CLS does weigh less, def make more since lol . And I had a feeling they had the same output of power and that it was just for marketing purposes
After testing we found leak in supercharger to intercooler pipes, in this video car has loss of 5psi in pik boost, it was running 450whp in this video. After fixing leak, we used 77mm pulley instead of 80mm , car made 496 whp and 690 wnm.
@@mevo7413 smaller pulley is higher boost. The higher is boost the more power it makes but you need costum tune to unlish full potential. You need to adjust fuel injection and egnition timing in order to make engine work correctly. Also these engine are heat soaking ones. Small pulley heats intake air temperature significantly so you need good cooling mods as well. You can gain nearly 500whp with 77mm pulley good cooling and long tube headers.
@@mevo7413 get 77mm clutched pulley. Gates heavy duty green belt. Belt wrap kit ( you will need longer belt in case of using belt wrap). You will need front big heat exchanger that goes to upper part behind the grill. Get ngk iridium spark plugs 1 step colder ( part number must start LFR7), K&N air filters. Get mid length or long tube headers with x pipe(delete cats if using mid length ones). After that get good ecu tune and tcu tune. Also remember to install bosch 010 pump for heatexchanger instead of oem pump.
How? They both weigh the same give or take 50-80lbs? The S55 is roughly 4,211lbs, 9.9sec 0-100mph and 493hp/516tq The CLS55 is roughly 4,320lbs, 9.7sec 0-100mph, and 476hp/516tq. What gives...? Driver mod? More passengers in the s55?
To be honest I am not 100% sure about s55 weight, my cls weight with 30 litres of fuel in was 1950kg. Both cars are stock only cat. Coverters are removed. Also 500hp on S class and CL is nothing more than marketing from benz. We dynod both car at same dyno same day. My cls made 404whp, S made 397 whp. So the output was almost same. Both cars are extremely in good shape. Cls had only 40k miles on clock , s55 had 54 miles on clock. Both cars are in same condition driver + 1 passenger.
That s55 is my friends car we made more than 5 pulls on that day. Than he put ligther forged rims on it and we tried again but every time the outcome was same.
@@Sclassmercedes I have few videos with vortex supercharged manual e46, with 440-450hp on my youtube page. Also I had many races with v10 m5/m6 but at that point my car was not stock and my car was pulling away quite a long distance.
Carmen Vasquez It will be against rules in california and most probebly you wont pass the test. On the other hand check engine light turns on but in our case we used a little glitch some kind of mounts we put on rear O2 sensors so in fact no check engine light came on.
In a straight line the 550 wins this every time if the drivers have equal skill. A driver who has a 7 out of ten skill level up against someone with a 9 out of 10 would lose no matter which they drove most likely.
@@ahmadjwaidi2970 completely different engines and trans, Clk550 has a 7 speed trans (722.9) and a dohc v8 (m273) and the clk55 has a 5 speed trans (722.6) and a sohc v8 (m113)
@@brucejohnson8320 the M113 is the more reliable long term drivetrain most likely, though the right 273 can certainly do ok. 113 has more leaky stuff, the 273 has more plasticy crap that breaks, and potentially chain issues. Both great cars. Personally like the 550 for the MPG from the 7G
i still thought the 55 would win somehow, how do they 550 clk sound do they have a good gruff sound also or are they like pretty silent like old mercs from the past can be
the car the camera is in is the clk55 amg ,the car which goes past it is the clk500 in europe or 550 in usa, from late 2006 onwards with the 5.5litre engine, and not the earlier 5.0 litre
people rave about the m119 engine being better than the m113 but i don't buy it an e430 is faster than an e420 and i believe the r129 with the m113 is faster than the m119 it replaced also
