The VHP at CCSU is primarily focused on collecting the oral histories of veterans while they are still with us. The collection includes the video taped interview of each veteran along with any photographs, military documents, field maps, journals and other related materials. Participating veterans include those from World War II, the Korean War), the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, and the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts.
This honorable man is my father. My hero,my heart and a true patriot. He is approaching his 93 birthday in August and still very active with the Marine corps league and the couch pipa VFW in Canaan CT. Thankyou Daddy for your service and for showing me what a real man,a good man truly is. I Love you ❤️
you write- " interview contains an offensive, racialized". nonsense! you are way too PC, do not be so bothered, there are reasons for those comments, valid ones.
Mr. “Mak” real name is John Peterson. He was the CIA Advisor to Group Mobile 42. His wife, Marty Peterson, who was also a CIA officer, wrote about John’s death in her book “The Widow Spy”.
This guy is talking about his comrades being blown up to pieces right next to him and other horrible things he went through in the field with a smile on his face, as if he was talking about a birthday party or an evening session at the pub, no emotions. It must be his way to react to it, but I've found it pretty disgusting and disrespectful... .
This woman doing the interview is one of the worst I have ever heard. How could they let this woman desecrate the honor and nobility of these veterans this woman doesn’t know shit from poundcake.
I was a Marine and served with Hotel 2/5, in 69/70. It’s not at all difficult for those that did real bush time to recognize some of the tall tales some VN Vets tell, or ones that get heavily embellished. Normally all you need to know what branch of the service they served, when, what their military occupation was ( infantry, supply, admin, artillery), what units they served with and where. And frankly, everyone that served, in whatever capacity, should be proud of their service. It bothers me when Vets feel they need to embellish and exaggerate what really took place. I’m not saying that this guy didn’t see some shut, but there’s several things he states, or describes, that I just don’t believe.
@@markgorian7855 I have nothing but true respect for the real combat vets. But facts are facts. Only 22% of all Vietnam vet's saw combat. Most of these guys have been waiting years to tell their horseshit hero stories after watching Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Apocalypse Now and inserting themselves.
All these Vietnam videos are basically BS. These veterans (minus draftees) willingly chose to go to an unwinnable, illegal war. If they say otherwise they are promoting a falsehood. A lot of these people push the image that they could or did win the war, but the "politicians" and the "people back home" lost it. Vietnam was a national American disgrace, tragedy and defeat...and they share in the responsibility of it. The politicians and American people saw that the war was not being won, or was unwinnable. The US never really had the "hearts and minds" of the South Vietnamese people...who they supposedly were fighting for. They don't talk much about the war crimes they committed against the Vietnamese....OR even against their own personnel. Lastly, whether these guys won or lost...the Vietnam war had absolutely NO effect on American freedom, security, safety or way of life. They did NOT sacrifice anything for my...or your freedom. These veterans present themselves as victims and wrongly treated. They are big boys and went to a country to kill or be killed. They shared in the failure. Now they want to be recognized for their "sacrifice" through videos, Honor Flights, endless trips to the Wall in DC or to Vietnam itself. They never grew up and really moved on. They have made themselves an embarrassment to themselves and my generation.
God bless this great man. I trust your living relatives are so proud. Back when Americans loved their country and knew what bathroom to use. A great New England accent too!
You all know that they fact check everything so I am sorry you feel the way you do, but before they put this up they talked to my unit. Oh also in this video I was recovering from a major surgery so hence the fact that way I looked out of it i am sorry if yall have a issue with how it was done i had answered to the best I could like I said I just came home from a major leg surgery that was not expected
