If you enjoy fly fishing, fly tying and outdoor adventures then this is the channel for you! A burnt out physical therapist, tired of the daily health care grind. It was time to follow my passion of fishing! Wether you are new to fly fishing or would just like to learn more about the art of fly fishing, I encourage you to join me! We'll be Hook'n Lips in no time!
Follow-up question - in your travels have you ever come across a doctor who fly fishes and understands the biomechanics of the cast? My husband also is a spine surgery patient and is having additional issues casting. Of course I thought of you to ask!
@@hooknlipsAVL I’m an avid fly fisher out of Louisville ky, all I have around me is public part stockers. I want to make a drive to west Carolina and experience some of the great trout you all have. Do you have any stream recommendations for some big trout?
@@icontrol9971 I don’t like giving away many of my secret spots but check out the catch and release section of the Davidson River in Brevard, NC. There’s plenty 20”+ trout in that section. It’s heavily pressured but you could have a lucky day and land a PB.
@@icontrol9971 I’ve never fished that section before personally. I’ve done very well in other sections of the Raven Fork. I have a video on here of a fat 16” Brown I caught out of the Raven Fork.
@@LifeOn_TheFly Thank you bro! That would be fun! I’m around the Asheville, NC area. You can Google Hook’n Lips AVL and there’s my contact info. Give me a shout! I’m Nick btw.
@@hooknlipsAVL Aaron here! Jesse is my channel mate. We will actually be fishing/filming at the Davidson river in Brevard for a few days in late September! Chasing those native brookies up the headwaters!
@@decknightontherocksbourbon Would be freakin sweet to have y’all down! Trout fishing starts to slow down closer to August and it’s dead in September. But October/November is lights out! Your best fishing being the first weekend in October and second weekend in November (based on stocking schedule). We’ll get y’all Hook’n Lips for sure!
Video should be called how to NOT catch fish by Dave, and How too catch fish by Jen. 😂😂 Still mine were bigger 😁👍🏼 Great time on the water. Highly recommended.
You’re not HOOK’N LIPS!! 🤣 Jokes aside, it’s a finicky hole for sure. I usually guide at that spot because I can spread out my clients, but it’s not my favorite spot, especially when it’s low and slow (like it has been as of late; we need some rain bad!!!)
@@hooknlipsAVL we live in Old Fart now, and my forecast is calling for rain M-Th... I am set to fish again friday, so hopefully we don't get TOO much. My spots on the Mills are pretty close to that first crossing - just up from there are two good spots (the first trail break to the river right after the crossing, and just about 50 yards further up by the small 'waterfall' are two of my favorites). I'll hike up past the second crossing pretty often, too... there are several decent spots in the next mile up from that crossing. The MIlls is just an awesome place to fish. I have been all over the Catawba lately, just because it's close to home and I can keep cell signal while I fish. I like Curtis Creek, and I usually fish west of here but I am thinking about hitting Wilson Creek and the Toe a bit more here soon. j
@@jee7668 Love the Mills. There are some hogs at the Catawba. It’s been great wade fishing there lately with the drought. But that will change soon and with them not stocking in June, I’ll be done with that river soon. Especially with how hot it’s been already 🥵. The video next Sunday will actually be a recent group of 4 that I took out on the Catawba. Catch ya later J!
@@hooknlipsAVL I just fished all up and down the length of the Catawba that paralells the Marion Greenway, and I can confirm, there is zero fish activity that I observed.. and def got skunked. I am fishing Friday, but idk if I can get over to the Mills, I'm about an hour away now. Since the Catawba isn't doing great right now, I gotta figure out where to go. How do you think Curtis Creek is fishing right now? I may even go up Newberry Creek friday with my 3wt and see if I can scare up some native brookies
Fun for her no doubt. No real need to hold the fish up out of the water for pictures though. Leave 'em in the net and in the water and then let 'em go.
That brown was s straight SLAB man! I am gonna guess this is the Catawba, but it's a stretch I am not familiar with :) It could also be the Toe, which is a river I have fished exactly ONCE. As usual, you got these folks HOOK'N LIPS!!
It was wild! What’s even crazier is that we were able to pull out the last nymph stuck in his rear. Amazing that trout was able to pass both of those flys entirely through without dying. Saved his life for sure!
That's so cool! I legit haven't been fishing since I was a kid in Florida. I remember someone else not with us fishing on the pier and they caught a baby hammerhead shark! It was legit crazy af!
hey there, Genevia here. I'm a Florida girl, 5 generations strong, been rod n reel fishing my whole life. These adventures with Nick are some of the absolute best fishing, of any kind, anywhere!
