Boat review ideas: Sheaffer 239, Conch 25, Morada 24, Young 26, Dorado 25, Kencraft 26, Pair Customs 24, Canyon Bay 24, Stuart 23... Ok Im done now. Like the content.
How can you shift smoothly when you have to press the throttle button to go in and out of gear? It’s always jerky when I have to do this and doesn’t seem smooth like your throttle.
Thanks! Very instructive & educational. Only enjoyed the hands on demonstration with the split screen & voice over. Not so much of you talking with no view.
The theory behind the procedure is just as important and I have to explain that somehow. There is not a surefire way that works every time to dock the boat. Different situations call for different handling and so the theory of why the boat moves how it does is very important.
Best Marine radar tutorial I've seen. Thank you. I'm a commercial pilot with FedEx and we make more use of our weather radar (Airborne Wx Radar) (AWR) to fly around thunderstorms and adverse Wx conditions. We also have (PAR) Precision Approach Radars for navigation. We are also in constant contact with ATC and they advise us when another aircraft is in our vicinity. Next month I'm taking delivery on a 2022 Boston Whaler 240 Dauntless and it's fully equipped with a Garmin electronics package. I'm in Southwest Florida (Naples).
Thanks for this video, very useful. I would just recommend, when teaching, to never show what NOT to do (it would be negative training), only show WHAT to do and how it’s done. Keep up the good work 💪🏼
Great video. Had a night boating experience that was not fun and the next purchase we made was RADAR. Question: can you have the Chart/RADAR overlay with a slit screen for a night vision camera as well? Thanks for sharing your insights.
I checked the comments first but I don't see this question anywhere , so I'll ask it then . If the left side of the boat is ' Port ' and the Right side is ' Starboard ' then why are you docking the wrong side of the boat ? Shouldn't you be docking the left or Port side ? Port side is where the dock is supposed to be , correct ? So that would be to the left side of the boat .
Great video. Informative. I have a small boat Tahoe 1950 and still not confident on navigating certain waters. Do you ever give like training or class on navigating ?
Love the content! Have shared with MANY people. Oh, I own a Bahamas built 23’. Took me 7+ years to find one! Albury’s are what the guy with a 80+ sportfish tows behind! Im at OceanReef Club, People with unlimited funds buy an ALBURY.
I really appreciate! I try my best to make every video better than the last! What year is your Albury? They are my favorite boat in the world. We have a 41 Bahama getting four new V10 400s put on it as we speak and even then I still get more excited about our Bahamian Albury! Just an awesome boat with an insane amount of character! I’ll put my email at the end of this message. Feel free to reach out if you are ever in the islands. We’ll grab a beer sometime and bond over our Alburys haha I am also in Ocean Reef a decent amount for work. nickolinde@me.com
Nick love your videos. I used to go to treasure Cay before the Hurricane but since then we have been told there is still a lot of areas that are damaged and businesses down. You can tell me first hand if its worth going back at this time. The rental property right on Treasure beach we used to rent has not been fixed yet. The name of it was the Bahama beach house.
I stayed in that VRBO right near the long dock last summer. The rental car was a beater and the drive south out of Marsh Harbor did have that look of post disaster. Despite all that it was still the best vacation I’ve ever had. I walked up and down the long dock about 30 times. Pete’s pub was great, we walked back to the old lighthouse and then found a great snorkeling spot near there. Little Harbor is a beautiful place. We explored the island a bit, we managed to find sawmill sink and Dan’s cave. We drove all the way to Sandy Point and ate at Nancy’s. We also spent a day at guana cay.
Hi Nick & Mellie, LOVE your videos, and appreciated the lifeline you provided to us in the aftermath of Dorian when we were desperate to find ANY info about Treasure, the people on the island and recovery. Treasure holds a special place in my heart, since 1974 when my father flew our family down in our little Cessna. Fell in love and have since brought my husband, and several couples to stay over the years. Is there a way to message you to ask a villa recommendation question. 😊
Hey Karen! I do my best to be a resource so I really appreciate the kind words! Send me an email and I’ll give you my phone number and we can talk on the phone! My email is nickolinde@me.com I try to refrain from giving out my number in the comments for obvious reasons haha
I honestly don’t know how locals afford the food let alone the rent.. Enjoyed the content & I wanted to go look at the power plant but ran outta time during my brief stay. Nick what does it cost to have a “ pilot” bring a yacht across devils backbone???
Several long years ago a few locals place those dead trees there. I grew up on Harbour island aka briland. That’s flats is called “girls bank” I love your videos!
We are staying right across from the dock you’re building - recognized it in your videos. I think we waved to you from the pool yesterday. You were in a golf cart looking at the lift progress. Too ironic.
I am not sure what you mean by this? All of my information comes from very reliable sources very close to the situation. I don’t claim to be friends with Ed personally or anything and am very clear about the fact that this information is just what I am hearing and that some of it is nothing but rumor. Pretty much all of Ed and I’d mutual friends really like Ed and believe that he is the right man for the job. If you know anything that I don’t then I really encourage you to speak up and let the world know to help make this a proper transparent community.
Wow-just subscribed. I have been looking to upgrade my Garmin and 8612 is what I'm leaning towards. This video was awesome-you covered an amazing amount of info and saved me hours or maybe days of reading manual and trying it out. I had never thought about powering up when not in water and impact on bigger transducers that could burn up. So you likely saved me and others some serious change! Thanks for covering things quickly and doing so much in only a half hour or so. I loved it didn't drag and a few more complicated or relevant things I didn't get 100 pct I just rewound. THANK YOU! I likely will have some questions on it when I get it-and I also appreciate you providing contact for those things. Awesome job-I will spread the word to other Garmin owners and when time I will watch the other videos. You clearly have mastered this technology and Garmin software and featutres.
Thank you for the kind words. I do my best to make everything as concise and easy to understand as possible. It’s not perfect but I try to get better with every video. Let me know if you have anything specific that you want to see in a future video.
@@NickOlinde Will do Nick. Topics I would like to know more about include how to save waypoints and info from a machine on one boat and put it on a 2nd (I have a Mako 21 for inshore/river/flats and 25' Grady for offshore). I'm curious if this can be done for different machines too, older Garmins as well as a nice Humminbird 12 I have. Thank you for saving me tons of time. I am envious of your screen real estate! I'd love to get one bigger than a 12 but I'm having trouble justifying and the fact that you don't get a mounting bracket with 16 on up is a problem for me as I don't have enough dash to put in a 16. Another thing I'm doing that others may be interested in is using active capatain android app. I bought a 4k resolution android car 15.6 inch tablet and plan to use it as a 2nd screen on my boat. I'm thinking it only echos what is on main one, but it would be awesome if I could split what is being looked at. If anyone knows on that reply-I plan to try hooking that up this summer. If interested I can come back and post my results. I live in Edgewater FL but snowbird north summer months, so I'll be back in fall. Gotta go catch some stripers and bluefin!
