Hey Robert! While I was there, I didn't feel that the air quality was particularly bad compared to other Mexican cites, but Manzanillo does have a more industrial feel. Your question is gold 😂 I would say take it slow. It's not so much the risk of actual food poisoning (that can even happen in high end restaurants) it's that the bacteria in food is different, so give your body time to adapt, depending on how long you're there for.
