I do have an instagram that I post my crocheted items. The Instagram handle is the same @craftylurex. Currently I am sufffering from some sort of a wrist injury that halted everything (not sure how it happened but I can't use the hooks or knitting needles). @@CraftyLurex I crochet. I learned to knit first but never made anything because I learned to crochet and enjoyed that more. I was really just a kid then. I then didn’t do anything for awhile. Then as an adult got back into crocheting. It’s only more recently I’m much more into it. Now learning more stitches and how to do more. Please show the items you make with all that gorgeous yarn.
@@gayle1055 That is also my story as well. I am getting back into crochet again after many years of not doing much with it. They do have a 'basic' yarns section. We don't have one here too. I buy it online. The shipping price is high but when I calculate it, it comes to be the cheapest yarn to buy. Single skeins go $6-7 dollars sometimes over $10 depending on what I buy. If I buy it online through ice yarns, it comes to $2-4 at most. But each person's budget is different so I completely understand that the shipping price is high. Especially if you are buying small amounts, ice yarns is not the place to buy yarn.
U guys are so blessed to have access to ice yarn I see it on all RU-vid crafters....too expensive for me... just for shipping costs R1600+ ...I am in south Africa and yarn shop stock ICE yarn😢

I am making tiny coasters with these and they work nice. I hear you about the color. I was mostly happy with mine except the red. It is more like a salmon but I guess it's okay. I don't think I will be buying these for a while. What do you like to make with these? Do you amigurumi?

I make blankets for a Ronald McDonald's house and wondered if you think the Vineyard and/or Twister DK would be suitable and soft for baby/children. I normally only buy what is marked premium acrylic through Ice Yarns and haven't tried the Vineyard or Twister DK.... hope you continue doing videos and would love to see some of your makes. Thank You!
oh that's nice. When it comes to Vineyard vs Twister Dk for baby/children items, they would both be suitable but I would go with Vineyard. Even though they are both 100% acrylic and super soft, Vineyard is fuzzier and it feels different compared to the Twister. The best I can describe would be the Twister has a lot more springy thread than Vineyard. It is lot shinier too with much less fuzz/halo. There is also the price to consider. The Vineyard is $0.99 per skein right now compared to $1.25 for Twister. We shouldn't forget the most important, which is the color options. Currently there is no white color for Vineyard and the rest of the color selection is super limited, Twister is better (not great but better compared to Vineyard). I hope it helps. I just ordered a bag of each popular yarns from ice yarns in white so I can work them and show them as comparisons. I will add Vineyard to the comparison list too so you can see how it works up. @@CraftyLurex Do you think the vineyard is too fuzzy for baby blankets? I don't want the babies to be getting fiber in their mouth, eyes, nose, etc... I don't care for shiny yarn so maybe the twister dk isn't the best choice. Always so hard when ordering online. I like my blankets to be cheerful and fun so I wouldn't be doing solid color blankets..I usually alternate the rows with a busy yarn if using a solid. thank you again...always fun to visit about yarn.
It doens't have a super fuzz/haloe, just slightly fuzzier than the Twister. The Twister is such a weird yarn. I haven't held anything like it before. It is not 'shiny' shiny but it has a certain sheen to it. The fuzz on the Vineyard is very similar to the amount of fuzz on the super saver in the US. Not sure geographically where you are but if you have used Super Saver or any other budget yarn type, similar to those. @@HicketyPicketySonjaSandell
I am still trying out a bunch of yarn so far so this might change but I do really like the Big Twist from Joann. It has a certain sheen to it but it works like butter on the hook. If you absolutely detest sheen, currently i am working on a baby blanket for my new born niece and I am using the Baby Batik from ice yarns. I do have a picture of it on instagram at @craftylurex where you can see the colors. The only thing is it is not as soft as I hoped but I think it still works. @@HicketyPicketySonjaSandell
