The Taneycomo Festival Orchestra provides a free two-week concert series of classical music in Branson, Missouri. We seek to break the 19th century tradition that attending a symphony concert is a formal and elitist event by providing an accessible and casual series of concerts and educational programs while continuing to preserve these great works of art in our destination city. Wow! I tuned in out of curiosity expecting to see something sort of folkloric. I was bowled over by the incredible sound that this incongruously dressed bunch of people with instruments in their hands could actually play them. From the music they produced they are world class musicians in disguise. What a fantastical surprise!
Thank you!! One of our goals is to make classical music more welcoming for newcomers, so we don't wear traditional concert black for our performances :) But yes, most of our members are professional musicians or college-level music majors! We're glad you enjoyed the performance.
Coleman's 'Umoja' is truly a moving piece. The harmonious performance by the orchestra makes one ardently wish for global unity and peace. The message of unity through music is powerfully conveyed!🎼❤
