I am a photographer and amateur film maker based on the Central Coast of New South Wales in Australia.
I have a portfolio of work on my website (link further below) which is varied, however these days I often gravitate toward street and general urban landscapes as I believe the ever changing environment and people within it offer a different and unique perspective each and every time.
I am keen to continue learning how to make interesting short films, which will not be exclusively based on street shoots, because I am also interested in taking my larger cameras out to rural regions where I can have more scope to include drone footage.
Thank you for stopping by and reading the channel bio, it is very much appreciated.

Roger your video format for this is smooth as, great immerision in your play of video and photography. It's it's own art, so well done. I don't get into Sydney CBD as much as I used to, great to see it.
If you can, grab a set of ND filters for it, it’ll improve the footage dramatically. Choose your frame rate, then set the shutter speed at double whatever the frame rate is. That, plus the addition of the ND will give you very smooth footage.
The Pocket 3 is so practical, and provides superb results when paired with an ND filter. I get plenty of looks out there, I just ignore and press on! 😉 And those Instagramers, well they’re the reason why the X100VI’s are back ordered across the globe.
Love the quality and look of this. I'm guilty of doing a little "unessential purchasing" now and then heheh! Enjoy mate, looks awesome and interesting hearing your discussion about it.
Love that second shot. It has so much going on. Has a lovely warm feeling to it. A tough and rare thing to capture in Sydney, I'd say. I'm noticing the "film" like grain, the blacks and the more true to form photographs not just in your compositions, but in that camera. Each video you have made has convinced me to sell my Olympus and look at the Fujifilm. "Grumpy" looks like a movie poster for a 1960s Aussie comedy. I love it.
Appreciate you making these observations. The Fujifilm cameras menu can be set up so that you can achieve a certain look for jpegs, including grain, tone curve, colour effects, etc, etc. I only spend about 60 seconds (if that) when editing my street images.
Great videos! I did a street photography workshop with Markus Anderson here in Cabramatta. It was really good, some locations your at. Markus has some great street photography worth checking out!
Great month of photography. Love the insights and images. You are an exceptional photographer because you have a brain in your head that can see things most of us see but don't think about. This channel deserves more subs.
On a n Alaska cruise with both. The X100 does take better pictures e.g mountains with reflections in water and cloudy skies are easily better. You know it’s the X100. On shore excursion the X100 is obviously convenient. From the ship balcony the XT5 with 16-55 is more useful in framing shots. And then you can easily switch zooms. Never expected the image quality that get from X100. And wait list does not matter, your dealer must favor better customers on wait list.
That’s a great travel combo! I also have the 16-55 2.8, fantastic lens. I’ll tell you a secret… my X100Vi will arrive soon, big decision to make! 😉 Enjoy the cruise.
I received an SBS food safari tour once and used it for a Cabramatta tour. The shops they showed us in all the alley ways was incredible. Ending up at a restaurant learning how to make Vietnamese food. I love it.
Not a photographer here but I have the same dilemma between xt5 vs x100vi. My main concern with xt5 if it'll be too "bulky" / "in-your-face" when using it in casual social settings. While x100vi isn't as inconspicuous as Ricoh gr iiix, it's comparatively 'smaller' (i'm using it loosely here) than xt5. Given that I'm not using it for professional use - mainly just to document social outings, family events, and perhaps occasional travel needs. I also don't see a huge upside for the interchangeable lens of xt5 other than for the few times that I travel out of the year. I think I would be able to make x100vi's fixed lens work for casual social settings. I wonder what your take is on xt5 vs. 100vi from a casual user perspective.
You’ve put a lot of thought into that and in my opinion you’ve got your priorities right. I will say though that the X-T5 is smaller than most people think, my only concern with it is the viewfinder housing which sticks out for both its size, and the fact that the white Fujifilm logo is on it. It depends on how inconspicuous you are trying to be when you say that you often use a camera for casual social settings. Sometimes being inconspicuous is more about the person, and not the camera. The 35mm (full frame equivalent) focal length of the X100Vi will do everything you need, and even if you want to experiment with something just a little wider then you can use the wide conversion lens on it. Many people will rightly or wrongly say that adding a conversion lens defeats the purpose of purchasing a smaller camera, however again I’ll say that you can be inconspicuous with practice when using a slightly larger setup. Cost comes into the equation too. An X-T5 will obviously require a lens purchase, and that automatically makes it more expensive than a stock X100 (without a conversion lens). Given what your requirements are, and the fact that you don’t necessarily see an upside with interchangeable lens options, then I’d get the X100. Appreciate you watching, and I hope that I’ve assisted with your process.
@@rogerbrooksfilms. Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I felt the same way about the viewfinder housing as well. My heart was set on xt50 actually. And when I went into the store to hold it xt50 felt super imbalance for me if you have anything on other than a pancake lens. I guess some would argue that xt50 is made to be used with pancake lens - but for me aesthetically that didn’t even look right. XT5 just fits perfectly in my hand. And felt balanced with the 16-50 or any of the pancake lens. I agree with what you said, you can understand if someone describes it as big - not it’snot like a Canon ‘big’. It’s big but feels just right. Then they pulled out the x100vi. Urgh. The x100vi was just so sleek and overall just so aesthetically pleasing. I might just wait for my x100vi order then. Thanks!
Nice format, enjoyed it. For my own weird reasons I try to avoid photographing the bin chickens on concrete; they have such a bad rep in the city. But am fascinated with them in their social home environments in the wetland parks. None of which is taking away from your work, they’re an iconic part of Sydney CBD life.
The colour shot looks sensational. I loved the feel of all the photos. They were candid. No drastic over the top blurring, no effects, no weird "arty" angles. Just good shots.
Love a toasted Ruben sandwich.. I've noted that down for future reference..! Terrific shots Roger and I'm loving the chat discussion interspercing with the shots, and the video-to-photo thing - which actually seems like a lot of work mate. It all comes together as a nice style, enjoy seeing you working with that.
Mate, this one has sauerkraut, pickles and cheese to compliment the meat, sensational!! Really appreciate the thoughtful feedback regarding the format.
If you zoom in on the little dog in the front basket of the bicycle at 8:19, the frown on its face is warning you to stay back.... or maybe t's just an unhappy Toto about to take a ride into a tornado in the Wizard of Aus 😳☺️👍
I enjoyed this video, I originally was wanting a X100V in 2023, but ran out of patience waiting. I went for an X-T30ii with the 23mm lens, it's a great little camera but again with the new 40mp X100Vi I'm temped with the high resolution. But with the viewfinder on the far left corner ( I favour my right eye) and maybe waiting for ages on it I'm looking at the X-T5. The X-T5 is available at the moment.
@@ScrappyPoontachat can’t go wrong with an X-T5, beautiful performance. I’m left eye dominant which means I don’t get the full rangefinder experience. Appreciate you watching and supporting.
My favourite shot is 'Gimme That'. I love the colour temperature and depth, and I love that every bit of this image has questions, and sparks the imagination.
Brand new subscriber, Roger. Thanks for keeping at it! I am doing a mix of THIS style that you did today and the walkabout with just a few seconds and some music. I think the blend works for me. Who knows? I like the wander/music/3 seconds one when I want a kind of "background" experience, almost like "Lofi Girl" kind of energy. When I want to engage more, I will make a video like THIS kind. That's how I decide, anyhow. Glad to be subscriber #125. :)
