Resolve, I’ve just purchased a Nikon ZF but also have a Leica m8 and Olympus E-M1X, I always find myself reaching for the M8, I purchased the other cameras because I thought I was missing out on something like wildlife photography with the em1x but it just doesn’t inspire. Anyhow great thoughts on your journey 👌
@@davidw2454 The Nikon Zf is a great camera. There’s something about M body Leica’s that is very therapeutic for me, which makes me gravitate to it. Thanks for watching!
This was great to see! How's the dji action 4? I've been meaning to invest in something like it for these POV kind of shots as well. Do you think it'd be a good first action cam?
@@Espressomo I prefer it over GoPros, and I believe the log profile is better from what I seen on the reviews. It’s been better for me in lowlight compared to when I’ve used a GoPro, but I need to tinker around with the stabilization.
If my wife wasn't in LA last week with me, I would have likely had a Leica by now lol. Impulse buyer too. But I got some good shots with the Zf. Love the end screen. Time I update mine.
@@wespellum I’m fortunate, I’ve been to 2 Leica stores while over here and resisted the urge to pick something up 😂 Are those shots on your recent videos, I’ll check out your recent videos once I get back to the states. I appreciate you 🙏
Just turn the focus ring to zoom to 50mm when you need it vs. the 50mm adapter in order to keep the compact profile. With the zoom mode and the two adapter lenses, I find it to be a very versatile camera.
Very good video! But for suggestion, not use singing music at this volume when you talk, because it mix with your voice .. use instrumental music... Or singing on parts you don't talk... About the camera, is a dream one of these .. but here in Brasil is impossible to have... 😓 Here you will need about 12 k dollar to buy one with lens...
@@guilherme0stevan I’ll keep that in mind on music for the next video, thank you. I was able to get a decent deal on this used, main reason I went ahead and got it.
@@MadefromJava Man, this is a little point, you have great videos! I see other videos and this not occur... Just a little point... Your videos pass a good vibe! You see GxAce? This guy was incredible too .. And sorry about my roughly english, I'm Brasilian... Don't speak English very well... 😅
@@guilherme0stevan thank you, I really appreciate it. I just checked out one of his videos, it’s awesome. There’s no need to apologize for your English, you know more English than I do Portuguese.
It was great seeing you and your son have a fun day out taking photos. Great seeing all the photos btw, and especially loved that one at 2:53. Great mix of light and shadows!😄
Amazing shots dude! Were you on zone focus? Somehow it looked like you focused super fast and nailed the critical focus - awesome work! Also great shots from your son! :)
Thanks man I appreciate it. I may have unintentionally zone focused. I shot on f4 and everything was from 3m and further away, I didn’t realize until later on 😅 that might of helped a lot.
Resolve! This was great hearing about your dream camera and your thoughts with how it compared to your Sony. Cant wait to see and hear about yout travel gear next! 😄
Resolve. Great to see more people getting into Leica and for real reasons not just because of the hype train. Using a Leica M is a process and great to see you're enjoying it.
Resolve :) I'm curious how long it will take until your Leica itch comes back :D For me after entering Leica via the Q system I got a one time deal on a Leica M9 and thought that would be it. One year later I added a Leica M6 to my collection, although I thought I would never should film myself. But I also have to admit that I got influenced by all the videos here on YT :) Great video man! Awesome production quality! I myself have to work on color grading to get better results, but it's quite hard for me :')
Aye…Phil! I watch a lot of your videos. Hopefully the itch doesn’t come back soon, I need to focus on working on my photography skills than worrying about hardware lol Thanks for watching and commenting, it means a lot 🙏
@@MadefromJava oh really! That’s means a lot man, thank you for your time watching! I know I should focus much more on the craft of photography like you said, but I also have too much fun using and testing out different cameras 😅 Not really gear related, but I’m dipping right now my toe into self developing my b/w film. Something like that also fascinates me on the topic of photography :) Take care and keep up your great work!👍
Ive heen eyeing the exact same camera. Used to have a Q2 a few years ago. So hard to pull the trigger on what costs more than all my cameras combined though 😂
I understand! but my hope is now that I’ve gotten what’s been in my sights, it’ll alleviate most of my GAS problem 😂 good thing I had stuff laying around to sell to justify the purchase too
Sell it while it is hyped. There are desperate people on ebay who wants this camera for their 2024 YOLO vacation. I am sure you will still get more than you paid for it, even used. People have gone crazy this year.
So, after that clicking, bro. Taking, as all the other influencers do: ordinary pictures of ordinary subjects. WHERE does this camera virtues begin to shine? All those takes: stills & video, could have been done just the same with a cheaper priced camera. At least you didn't drool about the sexy and oldie looks of the camera. Thanks for that. Keep on sharing!
The way is to get the x100f of this series. use it for street photos and have fun..anyway, I'd not get this series if I needed to choose 1 only one camera
I had also an X100 camera, and I also don't like the focal length, and the adapter makes the camera ridiculously big . I replaced it by an xe3 with the 35mm f1,4. Much better lens and smaller combo. I only use this setup when I want to travel light. If you are after image quality, your full frame Nikon is much better
For that amount of dough, you don't need it. I just got back from a wedding where I was a guest and for fun shot it with my Olympus PEN E-P5. Bought it used for three hundred bucks, two lenses included. The pics came out amazing and were often chosen over those of the pros shooting with full-frame Sony rigs.
5:34 What you really want is the Lumix S9. I understand. I have the Fuji X100VI nearly in and I am contemplating selling it as soon as it comes in for the S9!
I don’t need S9 drama on my channel 😂😂😂 S9 is cool, but not for me. Personally looking at the S9, I would probably look at the S5iiX with the deals they have going on.
@@MadefromJava lol I have the S5IIX it’s an amazing camera! I was suggesting the S9 if you’re looking for something compact. I personally was going for the Fuji as well, but I’ve been waiting for a long time for Lumix to drop a full frame compact device. I’m at a crossroad because I may want to bring a flash with me on the go, the S9 doesn’t have that ability, but for everything else I think it’s winner! My Fuji based off projections should be coming in three weeks and I’m thinking about canceling! I ordered 9:00 am the day of release.
@@amthemusic7632 I understand the “hate” on the S9, but I think Lumix has a winner on their hands. If you have already have S5iix, I see the S9 as a great compliment to it. I think I’m just looking for something other the “normal” mirrorless. I know, it’s just me having too much time on my hands 😂 I appreciate the suggestion.
What do you really want? I have both q2 and x100vi, q2 is way better in terms of build quality and sharpness, but not quite worth 3x the price…maybe 2x the price
Q2 is an awesome camera, but I’m convinced another fixed lens is not for me. I’ll continue to have fun with the x100vi and see where my GAS situation takes me.
lol. You don't want the leaf shutter and want to feel the vibration of a big SLR mirror slap? SLRs are cheap these days... but after seeing blur from mirror slap on my old DSLR, i'm totally ok with tiny leaf shutter click.
Nice work with the music and sound fx! And bro you and me both. I am torn too. As much as I love the form factor, there are so many tradeoffs. I ended up picking up the X-T5 before my trip to Italy and took that along instead. I didn't feel like I could rely on it for the trip. AF was hit and miss for me. I still have it because like you I know I will never be able to get it again but I am not sure if that will be long term. We shall see.
@@MadefromJava I've loved the images I've gotten from it. Hoping to get one of those videos out this week now that I'm back in the US. AF seems more reliable and the shutter is so satisfying haha. I know what you mean about the leaf shitter on the X100VI. Lol.
awful looking pictures with a strange bokeh and bad color cast from this astrhori 50mm f2. Looks like the bokeh is extra sharpened up with harsh contrasts and clarity
I ended up selling mine too brother. It was too dense to put on a gimbal and I had too many cameras after I picked up the Fuji X100VI. Right now rocking the X-H2 for video and I brought the X-T5 to Italy with me where I am now. But like you, I keep catching GAS, lol. We'll see what I get next. Thanks for the shoutout!!!
Wow, I’m surprised you sold it. Did you mention it in one of your videos, I might of missed it. Looking forward to your Italy video. Too bad there’s no “medication” for this type of GAS lol
@@MadefromJava maybe I didn't. I probably should. It's a great camera but the ergonomics and weight hold it back. Nikon lenses are next level. Love Nikon, it's just GAS got to me. And the more I get into video the more I lean towards video centric brands like Fuji. But I'm editing my wedding photos from a Canon (told my wedding photographer not to even try lol) I may look to pick up one of those. Lol.
I've always been more interested in the Zfc than the Zf. I don't really care about full frame sensors since image quality mostly falls to the lens and megapixel nowadays, and most importantly they are heavy which aren't suitable for any sort of modern-retro designed camera with compromised ergonomics. Fuji got it right when they go all out to make modern-retro cameras with APS-C sensors, which make their cameras light and compact so the less adequate ergonomic of a retro design won't fatigue your hand with prolonged use; like why even get a retro camera if you're going to ruin it's look with additional grip, just get a real perfectly capable modern camera with modern ergonomic grips. This is partly why full frame retro camera just doesn't make much sense to me.
At this price point there are plenty of options, all of them are pretty good. You just need to find what is comfortable for you. Sony a7iv, Lumix S5ii or S5iiX, Canon R6 ii, Nikon Zf , I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those. I’m more in favor of Sony because that’s what I’m used to.
I’ve been intrigued by it, especially with the deals they have recently, and open gate. But I already have a Sony a9iii and I feel the overall experience might be too similar. I’m actually waiting to see what’s next in their S1 line.
Everytime I see these kind of videos, it makes me feel better about my decision of keeping my Fuji X-T2 even though I upgraded to a Nikon Z6 late last year. The Z6 is a tremendous camera, but clearly it needs that large grip to be comfortable. The Zf was much closer to my X-T2, but at the same time it was so much heavier that it made the whole process simply... painful to go through. The lack of grip forces you to pinch a 700g camera, that's simply not comfortable at all. Also I think that as far as retro looking camera goes, Fujifilm just nailed the top retro dials experience. Just retro enough so that it feels great using, but not so retro that it actually hurts the shooting experience. Nikon went full akward "don't know where I stand" mode with dials that are really workong the same way they were on a film camera on one side, but a full articulating screen, PSAM dial, and command dials on the other. Complete schizophrenic approach to camera controls in my opinion, that was already what kinda prevented me from getting the Zfc. One thing for sure, I'm not getting rid of my X-T2. Great camera and really cheap to get used theses days.
It was because of the ergonomics combined with the weight, which caused hand cramping and fatigue in my forearms on long shooting days. If there was a beefier grip that I could attach to it compared to what’s available at the moment, that would help. Thanks for watching!
@@MadefromJava I think Zf is aimed at professional photographers, but in a different sense😅 "I used to have my hard working photography days, now I just want to have fun and take photos for myself, using this stylish retro body". That sort of sense, if you catch my meaning. Otherwise, for professional work I'd buy Z6, Z8, Z9 even, depending on what I do. I used to work on a D750, it never failed me, I was shooting portraits, events, that sort of stuff.
My experience with the Zf was similar. To be blunt: the ergonomics are terrible for my hands, even with the SmallRig grip. It's heavy, but it felt heavier on the non-grip side which was very annoying. It lacks a thumb rest on the back, so I found it difficult to hold comfortably with one hand since it always wanted to pull down on the non-grip side. No joystick and no button functions on the command wheels are missed opportunities. The buttons felt mushy and the D pad felt too stiff. Going back to the lighter, more balanced, X-T5 with its thumb rest, joystick, and frankly better control setup really put the issues in stark contrast for me, and the Zf went back.
@@hanns1401 I am about to get my Nikon ZF, so I can't judge yet. Like I said, I am not going to shoot long sessions with it. About the Fujifilm, it's a cropped sensor, right? You don't mind that?
@@Ascare It's APS-C. FF vs APS-C is a big topic with a lot of misunderstanding around it, but for me the bottom line is I wish it had better high ISO noise performance. That's why I tried a Zf, which has amazing low light ability. However in exchange for that, I have to deal with a much heavier, less ergonomic camera with bigger/heavier/more expensive lenses. I didn't feel the tradeoff was worth it specifically for the Zf, but maybe some other camera will change my mind.
