I enjoy videoing my various adventures and have done so using a succession of GoPro's over the years. I publish my most recent of these here.

I enjoy scuba-diving in particular and travel in general and so that's the content you can expect here. I hope it's interesting to someone!

Hello, thanks for the video. I have a question. with this combination should you make an inside lapel with the neck collar? It's silicone if I'm not mistaken.
@AdamHems
@AdamHems Месяц назад
Hello @thomasmartin390! The neck seal is silicone yes and over it is a thin neoprene collar for extra warmth. Usually I try and tuck the bottom section of my hood under the neoprene collar to keep it out of the way and warmer but sometimes I forget and it flaps about! It’s still comfy if this happens though. Hope this answers your question?

It’s also crazy to think that, if this ship was thrown into a dry dock for a few months, it could be out defending our country again, and it STILL would be a better carrier than most countries have today (cough cough admiral kiznetsov lmao😂👍)

It’s sad to think that all the other Essex class ships that looked identical (mostly) to this ship are either now refrigerators and pop cans, or at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean 😢 I know it’s a blessing that we managed to save 5 of them, and I also know we can’t save every single warship, 1, because our coastlines would be chalked full of unused ships, to the point of being unusable, and 2, because even if we did manage to save all warships with some sort of prestige due to battles won, we wouldn’t have enough money to keep them all in museum condition .. they’d all just rot away slowly, like us Texas did before she got 100,000,000 dollars worth of reconditioning It’s just a shame that we throw these hulks away like they’re nothing.. uss nevada is a prime example of a ship that damn well should have been preserved.. she went through hell during the pearl harbour attack.. hundreds of sailors died in her hull, and she was literally raised from her grave, like a mid 20th century Lazarus, repaired and pressed back into service to show the Japanese that even our ships that were considered destroyed beyond repair are still capable of returning from the dead and killing everything in front of it, like the reaper himself .. yet, at the end of the war, we painted her completely red and dropped a nuke on her head like she meant absolutely nothing (which, to the admiralty was probably true.. all she represented at that point was gunnery target experience).. a ship like that deserved to wear and show off her war medals to the country she served and protected for a few decades 😢😞

Hi Adam great video but i have basic question For a basic swimmer or non swimmer how will the gear help float? Is there a vest that keeps them afloat?
@AdamHems
@AdamHems 5 месяцев назад
Hello! Great question! If you look closely you should be able to see most others including my two daughters were wearing a black flotation belt secured around their upper chest. This was provided by the crew of the boat after we boarded, just before we went in the water. We handed it back once we came out of the water. This belt ensures every wearer of one will stay float even if they can't swim at all! You would just kick and or paddle with your hands and you will be able to float along. (I didn't wear one as it is so floaty that it stops you from swimming down to the bottom easily.)

Hello. Nice review! I would like to know what the process was like to decide on the size of the suit according to the size chart. Did you choose the size that fits the greatest number of measurements? Or did you choose a size that covered all measurements (even if some of them were much larger than yours)? Thanks in advance.
@AdamHems
@AdamHems 5 месяцев назад
Hello Eduardo! I went with the suit size that had the most dimensions that were within the measurements I took of myself. Not all dimensions were in range in particular my waist measurement which was too big (dad gut! :-P) -but it turns out the suit has some elasticity around the back of the waist area so even that part actually fits me snugly, but well (comfy). I hope this helps!

Hi Clarence - I do indeed need to wear strong (-6 diopter) prescription glasses or contact lenses on the surface. I have worn my contact lenses beneath a normal mask underwater before but I can see MUCH better when using a prescription mask instead which is what I was wearing in this video. That's my go-to for snorkeling and scuba diving. Sounds like you have the same! Definitely the way to go :-)

How many more times have you dived the suit? Anything pop up that is a glaring con? Looking to purchase one soon
@AdamHems
@AdamHems 8 месяцев назад
Hello @DP-br9io! Since February when I got this suit, I've done 12 dives since that I made videos of and at a handful more that I didn't so I've got a good 20 dives or so on this suit so far. I *really* like it! I am now inclined to wear this whenever the water is less than 80 degrees. :-) The coldest I've been in was low 60's (I was toasty!) and the warmest I have been in was the mid 70's (not too hot!). When the eater is warmer, just wearing a thin layer under kept me very comfy. I do have both thicknesses of full undergarment as well (Body X and the Body 2X) and they are great for cooler and cold waters :) The only thing that has not worked out so far was the Antares dry gloves system (optional extra). This didn't work well the few times I have tried it as you need to equalize the pressure inside the dry gloves using a small tube beneath each wrist seal, which I kept losing / not putting in correctly. So I got glove squeeze rather badly most times and one leaked once too as they are not easy to get on or off properly. It took me a dive or two to learn to put the suit on carefully enough such that the seals don't leak (due to folds, hair in them, etc.) but that was only the first few dives I've been bone dry every dive since. Suit and undergarments - highly recommended! Dry Gloves: Not so much.

This is seriously one of the best submarine videos on the Internet! You actually show everything including the signs and information plaques and don't show yourself in the whole video other than showing informative stuff like how low the ceiling is like many other RU-vidrs who show their face during the whole video. Did you make a video tour of the destroyer? I was looking forward to that at the end of this video.

Hello Bart - sorry to hear that! I hope you get to go again soon. No this case does not come with or offer support for filters but the plug-in from Insta360’s website for Adobe Premiere does the color correction for me so no need for a red filter with this case and camera. The app for phone does color correction as well, I think.

@AdamHems
@AdamHems 9 месяцев назад
Hi Steve! Glad you liked it. I edited this vid in Adobe Premiere, for which I downloaded the camera file format plugin for Premiere from Insta360’s website. That plugin has a number of settings including one specifically for their new “invisible dive case (underwater)” I was using, and picking the underwater setting actually did the color correction for me! So that’s a long way of saying yes in software but it was automatic using my workflow.

We did several at Playa Lagun as it was so close to where we stayed and only one at Jerimi but both sites were excellent and similar in many ways but if I had to pick one then Jerimi had no beach facilities or places to eat whereas Playa Lagun has a dive shop with restrooms etc and there are two restaurants close by. So dive-wise: both great; site wise: Playa Lagun.

❤ Thank you so much for the wonderful tour. I was on the de- commissioning crew of the USS CAVALLA AGSS244 in 1967 in Norfolk Virginia. I had tears in my eyes during your tour. It took me back to being an 18 year old kid and becoming qualified on this boat. We had to know every valve, switch, pipe, and piece of equipment in every compartment of the boat to earn our Dolphins (the badge of recognition that you are qualified) I can't remember the number of hours I spent scraping paint and maintaining our wonderful boat. I was 6'2" and was 165lbs soaking wet. I could get from the forward torpedo room to the after torpedo room in less than two minutes. I still have scars on my head to prove it. Your tour was fantastic. I don't know if it's still there, but my name and the names of everyone else on the decommissioning crew used to be in the crews mess. You called it a game room,which it also was. Thank you for such a thorough tour. At 75 years old and with two bad knees, I couldn't do the tour myself any longer, but I will cherish your great video.
