Parabéns, gostei do vídeo. Sua coleção é muito boa, uma das maiores que vi no exterior. Mas ainda temos muito mais aqui no Brasil. As pessoas daqui conhecem poucas espécies de jabuticaba. A variedade fica com os colecionadores mesmo.

Hello from Atlanta Georgia. At the beginning of this video you said you use Majestic Earth peat moss but when I googled it I saw 2 types. Can you drop a link for the one you use?

Here in the south of Brazil, we have plinia peruviana as a native variety. It takes around 8 to 10 years to fruit and with time it can grow into a huge tree.

Can Jaboticaba plant be air-layered or rooted by cutting?
@valterzc8187
@valterzc8187 24 дня назад
I don't think it is possible to root cuttings of jabuticaba, but you can do air layering, even though it roots quite slowly.

I live near the coast in CA where I don't get any frost but I don't get many days above 80F either, will this plant grow in ground where I am at?
@year1organics
@year1organics 2 месяца назад
If you aren’t in a low swampy spot, and your ph in your soil isn’t super acidic then it should grow great in the ground. But to germinate the seeds you need above 80F though, after they are mature it should be ok to plant into the ground!

great video. wish i remember which fff video it was from a while ago where he said something like, if it was possible to cross eugenias then it would already have happened in brazil. shortly afterwards...voila! pitombatuba! it's a really interesting question why this cross wasn't made in brazil. not that many eugenia collectors? or they didn't grow their eugenias close enough together? or they didn't sow the seeds?

Whaaaaaat, had no idea there was annonaceae in australia, and so weird. Im guessing the paw paw ancestors were the ones that made it to asia and australia. would be could to see of they can breed, tho they are from different genus so it might not work.
@year1organics
@year1organics 3 месяца назад
All the continents were all connected at one point in time I believe, because annonaceae is one of the oldest fruits documented from our ancestors and it’s actually been found in every continent around the world, it’s pretty crazy it’s an ancient fruit forsure. And as far as the breeding goes, it never hurts to try even when you think it’s not possible! My friend created a new fruit variety from two fruits we thought could never hybridize :)

I think you could add some airpruning pots to the mix too. I find plants in those pots have accelerated growth

the fan blowing on them is an interesting concept. right now i'm experimenting growing some plinia nana seedlings with and without nitrogen fixing seedlings, in this case mimosa. hard to say if the mimosas make a difference... correlation vs causation and all that. not too long ago i saw fff going crazy with hollytone fertilizer so i got some to experiment with.

At 25:00 caja munga…looks like June plum. Similar?
@year1organics
@year1organics 4 месяца назад
That’s what we thought too, in Brazil they call June plum “cajá” and eat it often there in many dishes. But when we asked Adhemar he said this one’s not “caja” it’s different and called the “caja munga”. Never tasted this one though, im sure they are pretty alike.

Is this plant evergreen? Or does it die back?
@year1organics

It’s perineal but the frost can still kill it back and the seeds will still fall and re plant themselves each year

New to growing Jabos! After being gifted a sabara and scarlet, I bought a red, white, and phithrantha from FFF. If it hasn’t rained, what else can I do to water them? I don’t have well water either.
@year1organics
@year1organics 5 месяцев назад
The most natural method I found and use is change the PH of your city water by adding a bit of vinegar (apple cider or white), set the bucket outside and let the chlorine off-gas for at least 24 hours. An aerator will off-gas the chlorine quicker. If your plant starts to look chlorotic then repot it with fresh peat.

How do you know which potatoes to pick with out digging them up? Also, aren’t some of them deeper than surface?
@year1organics
@year1organics 5 месяцев назад
Find where the potato vine touches the ground and shot a root in, with the your finger feel the girth of the potato and then you know to pull it. But if you pull it too early its easy to plant right back each time they grow like weeds
