Great movie but the ending needed just a little bit more time on it or was this ending all deliberate ? I think It was the correct thing never to see the aliens. In my view if Kubrick went into more detail it ends up going down a rabbit hole and the details can be more open to fact checking, causing people and move critics focusing on obvious and thus distracting focus on the story and overall experience. Interesting and clever way to introduce alien life was in the hotel room where you never see aliens, but can actually hear them chattering away in the background observing Dave in his hotel room. Just like people chatting viewing animals from outside a cage visiting a zoo . But It's like they ran out of money and ideas at last moments when Dave is on his death bed pointing to monolith then sudenly next scene a baby in a bubble in space. But this ambiguous ending had the effect of keeping you all guessing. The secrete sauce in this movie was that the science and tech still holds up today in 2024 and is believable .The space craft shuttle from space station to moon , the moon bus , the space shuttle plane , space station, face time phone calls, AI , all realistic and achievable today as we embark on a similar visions , " The Gate Way " planned projects and missions from Earth to Moon and Moon to Mars. 2001 was ground breaking for 1968 and clearly was a visionary prediction and snap shot on what we have already achieved 56 years later .
Sounds like The Karate Kid variant..., which is released at same year... Music score for For Your Eyes Only (1981) (James Bond movie), Escape To Victory (1981), The Right Stuff (1983, Best Original Score Academy Awards)... & Rocky I, II, III & V,
I love this SO much. Came here to watch Thomas Newman, my all-time favorite movie composer. There is not much video footage of him, but I highly recommend his interview with Rick Beato because it's a masterclass in composition and shows how absolutely brilliant and humble he is. His mixing of major and minor notes is next level genius and the Newman family legacy is so rich.
Thank you Vivian Kubrick for coming onto the Alex Jones Show and recommending The making of 2001 for info-warriors who watched your recent interview with Alex Jones. :)
Why on earth is the feminist woman in this doc? She contributes absolutely NOTHING! 31:30 is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard! Who decided to involve her??
There's a long goodbye And it happens everyday When some passerby Invites your eye To come her way Even as she smiles A quick hello You've let her go You've let the moment fly Too late you'd turn your head You'd know you've said The long goodbye Can you recognise the pain On some other street Two ppl meet As in a dream Running for a plane Through the rain If the heart is quicker than the eye They could be lovers Until they die It's too late to try When a missed hello Becomes the long goodbye
I just thought of something...HAL9000 likes to let everyone know that he's the most perfect computer ever built...or is he experiencing doubt? Is it reassurance?
