Somewhere Over England, along with Tears For Fears and The Korgis emerged from the Bath local music scene of the 1980s - probably the greatest period for popular music in the city.
One of the most popular bands in Bath at the time, Somewhere Over England finally gained recognition and chart success in 1991 not in the UK but in Spain with their huge melodic summer epic ‘If I Ever Fail in Love ‘which was one of the longest charting hits in that country, finally reaching the No 1 slot in September of that year and remaining one of the most iconic tracks from that unique era. Quintessentially a band with an 80's sound and sensibility, the music has now matured to feature more instruments and a folk feel. Live the band play their songs from the 80's and 90's plus their more contemporary nuanced folk songs.
Came to find your legendary song 'If I ever fall...' and have the pleasure to listen to this beautiful piece of music. You're amazing still! Congrats for this awesome tune! XOXO from Argentina!
If memory serves me well my cousin when out with the drummer of SOE in the late 80's/early 90's. She gave me a tape of one their albums, which I took with me while inter-railing around Europe. Later my stuff was nicked whist backpacking in Australia and I lost the tape, and SOE disappeared from my consciousness. For some unknown reason they randomly popped into my mind again, and I found myself here and I'm glad I did. Brand new Car is an absolutely beautiful song. Hope they'll be more new material.
Hi David, thanks for the comment. I'll pass to the old drummer dave Eccles. Try this song ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jUG_W86q5hw.html
Hyper cringe. The EU is a trade alliance and economic project with knock-on benefits to travel. I'm not the biggest fan of Tory Brexit, and it sucks that we can't stay longer than 90 days in the Schengen area within a 180-day period but my god, get a grip.
