The last two days Mary fucking Christmas I’ve had this problem.....At first appointment is bad fuel but it’s not under the The plastic cover letter has come for you and normally I contact and it works fine.........What’s the car started it’s fine it just only seems to be when the engine is cold I’m not 100% sure what it is but luckily like I say when you hand pump that little fuel pump thing whatever it’s called I don’t know if things to get the car going and then purpose is hot it is what it is that would be lovely post on here Rather than leaving childish posts

I have a 2008 citroen c3 fitted with this engine and it sounds different compared to a 2013 citroen c3 with the same one. Does anyone know why? Maybe it's a different component fitted in the new ones that make it that make it sound more smoothly.

I have a 2004 Citroen c3 (1.4L auto) PETROL and for the last 2 months only I’ve had this same “cold start” issue. I’m in Australia too so it doesn’t get to freezing temps here at least not in my area. It’s only in the mornings or if I’ve not driven for several hours and engine is well “cool”. I’ve just recently had engine replaced because I had a blown head gasket and it was cheaper to replace the motor than the head gasket - but, the mechanic said his scanner or whatever says it’s fine - he said there must be something just slightly out with the parameters but could spend a lot of time and money trying to figure it out. It’s just annoying that it’s only started doing it very recently - other than the issues complements of a dodgey 2nd band car dealer - it’s been for the most part a great car. I find it’s pretty gutsy for a little 1.4L car and does a LOT better climbing inclines that my (bought brand new) 2015 Nissan Juke 1.6L did! It’d only done 126,000km before recent engine change. Wish I knew a bit more about cars!

you should wait for engine to heat itself before cranking that much long, also short and consecutive attempts are better for your engine. it's running without lubricating itself while you're cranking.

if your tank is empty you tank 2-4L Benzine than full with diesel. The benzine wil mix and the diesel won't flock. auto start. Or you buy anti flock (frozen) at auto shop 0.5L/40L diesel. Or tank only Shell BP and not the cheap shit. :)

Problem was solved by changing EGR valve. I didn't believe it could be related, car started normally at -25 too. Now we have engine working unstable on idle, had tested, repaired injectors, did not help. Need proper diagnostics.

I have the same problem with C2(1.4hdi). If outside is under -10'C it is hard to start a car.

Always depress the clutch when starting in cold weather, drain water from diesel filter, Check battery voltage, like above comment, starter draws 30+ amps hp pumps now run up to 300 psi, correct starter is vital. diesel doesnt really like cold weather, most filter circuts have a diesel preheater mounted near filter housing, check that too.

The video is quite old, hopefully you have already solved the problem, but I'll post the coment anyway: did you try pressurizing the low pressure fuel lines using the manual pump (that rubber ball you use in case you run out of fuel) ? Did it make any difference? The same engine on Peugeot 206 tends to get air in the low presure system due to minor cracks on a fuel line underneath the air filter, that gets worn by vibration and friction with its own plastic mount.

Ok, i just made sure what the problem is. I just installed Windows XP SP2 and every thing works great.(on the same machine i was having problems with SP3) Just skip Service Pack 3. Install all updates except SP3.

Could be bad glow plugs. On a diesel that's the first place I'd try. It sounds like you have one good plug but the others bad. I had a similar issue myself on my car and £40 set of glow plugs solved it.

@ramibesa Interesting problem and simple solution but doesn't seems to be my case. Starter cranks engine fine. Last days I have managed to start in less than one minute by pushing accelerator harder. I understand that it is possible that air gets in diesel fuel system.

The remedy that I experimented with success is to place the transmission in neutral, push the car by hand a few inches to make a half rotation to the crankshaft and the pistons move from the dead, then start with the starter. It works!

I had the same problem with a 2002 Ford Fiesta equipped with the same engine. A mechanic told me that the problem is due to a design flaw of the cranckshaft and its bearings, resolved with updates. stopping the engine one or more pistons frequently end their run in the bottom dead center, so with very low temperatures the starter motor fails to rotate the shaft enough to win compression. Depends neither on the glow plugs, nor from the state of battery charge.
