It's all about ergonomics and gear. The right handlebar at the right height (risers might be needed), foot peg position, knee angle, plushness of saddle, right windscreen, noise mitigation, proper gear, ... I have done 14 hours on the saddle many times (St Louis -NY, St Louis - Denver, St Louis - Buffalo, in winter), as well as Iron butt type rides, but my bikes are always set up for my comfort, and no matter how many hours I spend on the saddle, I sleep normally and wake up the next morning fresh as fiddle.

Personally I would recommend the Suzuki dl650 v strom, even the older generations. They are economical, good for tall people, and have plenty power for the average rider. And since sv650 parts are mostly identical to the dl650 there a ton of cheap parts+aftermarket parts.

Great recommendation! The compatibility with SV650 parts is indeed a huge plus. Thanks for sharing!

An 850 gsa is a better "adventure" adventure bike than a 1250/1300 anyway. Lighter for offroad-ish use :) Wish they made one with a shaft though...!

Sorry but I can't agree with a lot that you say, if your going g to tour you want an adventure bike, touring gear and if your anywhere in Europe there is plenty of fuel stations it's not a third world continent ! The only things you need to plan are your overnight stays, and yes it's not cheap but what holiday is ! We just did 2700 miles round Europe in air b+b's for two weeks- €580 fuel was €280 but the food and wine/beer was around €1000 ! 🤣🤣🤣 so foe three of us leaving the UK for two weeks it was less than €2000 each ! My wife and I spent a lot more than that in Ireland foe a week 🤣
@OnlyBikers-TheBestForBikers
@OnlyBikers-TheBestForBikers 27 дней назад
Thanks for watching! I see what you're saying, and I agree that an Adventure bike would be the best option. However, they can be quite pricey! So for the financial aspect, I think that everyone has a different perspective depending on their situation. It's true though, holidays are never cheap, haha! 2700 miles sounds like an awesome trip! Thanks for sharing your story, and I really appreciate you taking the time to comment!

I ride push bike very very very fast weather permitting
@Tyresong
@Tyresong 28 дней назад
I found it harder on the core muscles, not the back itself, just the muscles. they get the same workout for 1/2 an hour twice a day, every day... but 6 hours of using the hips, abs and lower back muscles to control the amount of lean in and turn the bike, that takes its toll (and brings back the abs that disappeared 15 years ago... so who's actually complaining?) Maintenance checks need to be done on ANY vehicle about to embark on a long trip. so that doesn't change anything. It's just the weather and how long you can handle riding compared to driving. 6 hours a day riding is enough for me, but 10 hours in a car is nothing... So overnight stops would be about 1/2 the distance apart than if I was in a car. (I think I would throw some clean clothes on a Courier to be waiting for me at the other end, and do the same for the trip home (with the dirty laundry lol)
@OnlyBikers-TheBestForBikers
@OnlyBikers-TheBestForBikers 28 дней назад
Thanks for sharing your experience! You're definitely right, for me, it’s mostly my lower back that takes a hit. The idea of throwing clothes on a courier is brilliant! Thanks for your comment and watching my video!

It only costs around $1200 to ship a motorcycle from Texas to Norway, and round trip airfare is around $600 bought months ahead of time. That's not bad. Hotels aren't cheap, and camping is limited from my research, though. It still would cost around $5k round trip plus hotel, food for a week.
@kokilimonke

Camping is not limited, you can camp pretty much anywhere in the wilderness as long as you only stay 2 nights each place.

Lol, you accelerate too early in a turn and lose traction, that's your fault, not the fault of the weather/nature. The crash was caused by your lack of judgement and applying too much throttle on the on ramp. The conditions have nothing to do with it. It's your reaction and application given the conditions that failed you. Minimal lean angle, lol, no. You gave it too much throttle bud. Stop blaming the weather and start blaming yourself, you will learn much more. Glad you're ok. Hope you're still on two wheels.
@deehjeeh96
@deehjeeh96 2 месяца назад
Definitely my fault, and I've never claimed otherwise. I was riding on a new set of tires in cold conditions, but on a bike I've been riding for years. I placed too much trust in my tires. I do believe this wouldn't have happened at different temperatures. Nevertheless, it's fully my fault for being ignorant of the road conditions. I'm still on two wheels; it'll take a lot more to get me to quit! Thanks for the comment! I appreciate the opportunity to clear things up.

It is very difficult to know the route by only stating the route from where the start going to the endpoint; however, if you attach a link to the Google map showing exactly the route that we should be using it would be a very specific and much more helpful.
