I’ve got kuhli loaches and they happily swim around my community tank with my Corydoras catfish. They eat all the mess leftover by my yellow bellied slider and I love them! My catfish, loaches, skirt tetras, zebrafish, rainbow shark and yellow bellied slider are individually amazing🎉
Yes, Depending on which plant it is letting it float first helps with establishing roots before you plant it. (and gives time to find Where you wanna plant it!)
Perhaps you should look more into the subject of under gravel filter used as a slow moving plenum base for planted aquariums (ref. Dr. Kevin Novack). Also I feel bad for the boy who was betrayed not because of his under gravel filter ability to filter the bioload but because of Goldfish champion like ability to poop beyond measures. Also power filter heads were almost scarcely available in those days and the ones that were available were very very expensive.
Same Science with Java Moss takes on tank and filtration it's a Trash Plant to me won't buy it but I get it not you but random plant orders ...Hate that S****
Dude, they truly are the best. I keep 2 in planted tanks and they are the saviors of the aquatic forest. They eat out of my hand and let me know when the weather is about to get weird.
Wether we fully understand the how's and why's is irrelevant but it seems to me that people tend to remove what looks like a key player in the natural balance and then complain they can't get their tank balanced. It's like that tiny little spider behind the sink. Doesn't look like it's doing much but if you kill that thing your home will be invaded by criply crawlies. Leave the algae alone. It's doing something important and if you let it do its thing it's eventually gonna set up shop in the back corner and leave the rest of the tank looking good.
