My daughter had a hamster, she named it Heart Star. It was a teddy bear hamster. We had him for about a year. He lived in a large metal cage with 3 levels, a wheel, lots of fresh pillowy bedding on the bottom level, a food dish, and a big water bottle. Frequently I would wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of his teeth on the bars of the cage. It was quite loud. Sometimes I would wake up in the morning to see that he had bent the bars enough to get out, or that he had chewed the latch and escaped. Usually he was just hanging out in a corner of her bedroom, but there were a handful of times that we wouldn't see him for a day or two. He would always turn up in the kitchen, usually darting out from under the refrigerator to get our crumbs. He was a friendly guy and you could carry him around. He also loved to roll around in his ball and sprint on his wheel. I'll always remember the way his jaunty legs looked, those chubby hind legs dangling off the edge of my hands as I lowered him back into the cage. My daughter went on vacation with her mom. I noticed Heart Star wasn't eating as much so I gave him his favorite snack, one of the fancy organic corn tortillas from the health food store. I came to check on him that evening and he was completely still, rock solid, under a pile of his fluffy bedding, next to the tortilla. I took him outside and buried him under the dogwood tree in the front yard of our rental. My friend gave me a ride to the airport to pick up my daughter. She had flown by herself at the age of 6, very bravely. I got her situated in her car seat, and I told her quietly what had happened to Heart Star. She replied, surprisingly, with a simple, casual, "Oh, that's too bad." My friend and I exchanged relieved glances, and we moved on with the conversation. When we got home I took care to show her where Heart Star was buried. Several months later, we were driving around with a different friend, some music on the radio, and I casually mentioned her adventurous hamster. She suddenly started crying, huge tears flowing down her cheeks, mourning her adorable companion. She wailed his name again and again, the words burbling out with her sobs. Heart Star, Heart Star, Heart Star.

I shared this song with my late friend Jon before he passed from mesothelioma way too soon, he described it as "life's waiting room" and it still rings to this day; he was an artist through and through and I believe he heard this while waiting for his next life to begin, whenever that happens I hope we meet again!!

You know when you're mid fap, and your cat walks in on you, jumps onto the foot of your bed and locks eye contact, because it's his dinner time, but you have a boner and you just don't want to open cat food and serve it with a boner, but you also don't want to keep going with your cat watching? I drove around with my newborn son in the car one time playing this and he just quietly listened, presumably looking out the window as the world passed by him in reverse from his rear-facing car seat. After some time had passed I pulled over and turned around so I could see him in the mirror that hung behind his seat. I asked "are you doing ok bubby?" and he smiled at me

29:49 on March 7th of this year, my older brother passed away at the age of 32, leaving behind his wife and two children. I’ll never forget that day at the hospital. It has forever changed our lives in ways that I can’t describe. This song was playing in my head as I held his hand and said goodbye to him for the last time. The sunset on that day was absolutely beautiful, Chris. We miss you so much. Keep watching over the family, love you.
