As social distancing become the new normal & more people come to plants for therapy, we started this channel to film our journey with houseplants and hopefully can show you how to grow your houseplants starting from today.
Our channel will includes: - How to propagate houseplants & succulents. - DIY Succulent Arrangements. - Repot your plants (Every person has to figure out a bigger box to grow, same with plants) - How to take care & grow your houseplants and succulents naturally.
He air layered to my disappointment because the leaves or stems he cut were able to go into some water, this could have better! However, it was his plant, and maybe we will understand it later! But I was disappointed at the content.
You could have saved the top of the plant by airlayering the stalk a few nodes below the lowest leaf, then once the roots formed cut the top rooted section off and potted it and still have had enough stalk left to make more cuttings.😊

I tried this and it didn’t work. Could you show us the roots? I have a book that says you can make upright leaf cuttings from this plant and another person on RU-vid says you can use rooting hormone and put them in a soil like medium. I am curious to know if this method really works but I don’t want to waste any more plant material trying.
This overly ritualised and sterile way of doing things is really not for me, the cutting of the stems almost like he didn't want to do it, the foliage of the dracaena comes off so easy and leaves a clean stem, why use the secateurs to cut it off? Using gloves?????? Ok, some of use can be allergic to plant sap. The mixing of the soil is done in such a painfully slow way it made my eyes hurt from stress ... and then the filling of the pot... seriously? Why not use and expresso spoon? It would've prolonged the video by quite a lot with the insufferable music.... I would have put the 3 stems in water, one at the time after each cut to make sure they go right side in. But some people have good success with propagating in soil. It doesn't seem to work for me, it might have something to do with the climate and time of the year. And its all taken away - no update... Typical.
Same here... mine broke and I immediately stuck it back in the soil (at the time didn't know if that was correct) but it worked and it so strong and beautiful.
This is a great video for watching a guy do something and not explaining what he's doing. Just by mimicking his motions, is not a way to get results. The video needs some narration to explain to the viewer what the heck is going on. USE WORDS!!!!
Stabbing through the stem works for every dracaena ? Everytime I try the water method my stems end up turning black and rot away pretty sure due to the contact with the glass…
After cutting are you putting them immediately into water or are you giving them a bit of time to scab? Water method seems to work half the time for me, but I tend to get better results if I let the plants cut dry over a bit (~a few hours to a day depending on the stem type) before placing it into the water
Everyone reading: skip the Saran Wrap. A narrower neck vessel means less waste. We won’t have plants on this planet if we don’t think twice about how much we fill landfills.
pretty vid, but the use of plastics...why? so unnecessary and unneeded. even crisscrossed tape is a better solution, but a smaller mouthed glass vessel is easy to find.
😂 I do not condone that 3rd method.....the plant empath in me cringed when I saw what he did with those sticks. Can a plant parent get a warning disclosure for that violent footage 🤣
Same was I rooted an avocado pit. Just stick the toothpicks in until you can't push further, just 1/4-1/2 an inch. The bottom of the pit or cutting just needs to reach the water. It's cool to see the roots form in the water.
These plants prefer humidity and can easily be overwatered so be careful water propagating them does work they grow roots really well in water but need to be placed in soil after
Such a healthy and happy Philadendron . Mine is dying . Yellowing leaves one by one and drying. I don’t know what to do . Only few remaining leaves left . Any advise ?
I rescued a couple of dying dehydrated philadendron's from a local plant nursery a few days ago. The first thing I did was to check the roots at the bottom. They were incredibly dry so soaked the plants under the kitchen tap and allowed all the water to drain out entirely. I repeated this again an hour later before bottom feeding them in a tray. I noticed the next day that both plants had immediately picked up. I'm planning on taking some cuttings and propagating some healthy leaves just in case they don't stay healthy!

i would check for overwatering. Often yellowing leaves on Philodendrons is from overwatering. Soil can almost dry out between waterings and have robust growth. I had a potted Philo that had an inner pot (it was in a pot liner) and while the soil was dry at the top, I didn't realize water was collecting in the bottom pot. The leaves were yellowing- it tunred out the roots were sitting in standing water and rotting. I poured out the water in the outer pot, didnt water again for two weeks, and it recovered. Hope that helps.
prayer plants (maranta) and calathea may both be from the mantaracea family, but they are not the same... so it would be best to search for a video specific on calathea
You don’t need to use plastic wrap , you can just put it in water as long as the nodes are covered in water you’re fine. the plastic wrap is just to help keep the cutting from moving around too much but you don’t need it
