HI ML! Any chance you could update ML Drums so that Multi out works as it should in LUNA? They just added Multiout to it, and from my POV at least, stereo doesn't sound the same as multiout at all. On Multiout first 2 channels are sent the whole mix. But if I mute that channel, when I compare it to the Stereo version, it sounds weaker, and different, specially the snare, it loses it´s popcorn sound (love the cracking snare of Dwell drums: Crave Maple). I hope you can look into it.

That's the expected behaviour - the master channel in ML Drums has compression and EQ parameters. If you multi-output route the plugin, you're hearing the sound without that point of processing. -Kai
@lastcall9998
@lastcall9998 11 часов назад
@@mlsoundlab Yes, I expected something like that, but before posting my suggestion I made a preset where in the Mixer there is no processing on any channel. Maybe I am wrong, as of course you are the creator. I still urge you to look into it? (I set all knobs and sliders to zero or mid position, just in case).

saw too many videos that prove that "tonewood" makes close-to-zero difference, if any. consider this for example: maple, mahogany, and rosewood are used to make a variety of ACOUSTIC instruments - drums, pianos, etc and of course acoustic guitars. on the other hand, i've never heard of any instrument (other than electric guitars/basses) that's made of alder, ash or basswood. if they have such great tonal qualities, that wouldn't be the case. if i remember correctly, leo fender used alder and ash mostly due to PRACTICAL reasons (both of them were available in north america at the time and were not expensive)

Hello ML guys! I really like your stuff. I know it's very new but Luna got vsti multi output routing. I would like to try my GRIT package in it, but it doesn't work for now. In other DAWs, I can't choose outputs myself in the mixer window on individual tracks, but the separation works just like in this video. I hope there will be a solution in LUNA as well. Thank you for your work. Cheers!

I think this is a limitation of LUNA, as far as I can tell it's not possible to multi-output route plugins in LUNA at this time. Hopefully that changes in the future! -Kai

I recorded a track with my BOSS GT 1000 CORE without IRs in my DAW and edit it with mixIR3 or MIKKO 2 and it sounds great ! When I export it from mixIR3 or MIKKO 2 and use it with my BOSS GT 1000 CORE it sounds terrible ( Thin and Harsh ) ! Am I missing something here ?????

This test doesn't really show anything unfortunately. ------------|-- normal pickup ------|-- extreme shortened scale length You'd have to also keep the pickup at the same fraction of the string length for it to show what scale length does on its own. I suspect that the majority of the sound change you hear is due to the pickup just sounding more like a neck pickup. I don't disagree with your results though, longer will have more tension obviously, just that you haven't isolated one variable. This also really clearly illustrates the tuning stability of shorter guitars.

I have the block letter plugin and it's been fantastic. I love how efficient it is with my laptop's resources and the tone is great. I have an Astro and an SLO30 and I'd love to see an Astro sim. My one wish would be an easier way to save an update to my current presets. I click save and it acts more like a save as. This normally isn't a big deal except I use midi to switch my presets and I'd rather not have to do the shuffle on my midi settings or create a new preset + delete the old one to keep the slot I'm using

I would love to have a mini china and a floor tom on the left as well, I feel is stereo image is leaning a bit to the right side for grooves with a lot of toms and/or china cymbals. Also it is a trend to have a tom on the left as well, it gives a nice stereo image when combined with palm muted guitars. I love Krimh Drums for having this 3rd floor tom on the left and thus a more balanced stereo image when playing various grooves, I wish you could do the same.

I totally agree with your take on the Astro. Maybe one of the best amps on the past 20 years and one of the best deals. I’ve seen people get these for $1700 new. It’s basically a 9 channel amp when switched via midi. And the clean channel is near perfect. I’ve been gigging it for 3 months and it is doing a superb job.

this was a great comparison. As soon as I could I got the Astro 20 due to the fact it had all those present day features and the flexability is just great while still maintaining that Soldano sound. The no cab option and built in IR is just a great feature plus all the midi programability. Soldano knocked it out of the park on this and didnt just come out with a slo 20 you know. I also like it still maintains note definition. I think the bass response is more tighter in the astro but I feel if you wanted more just crank it up a bit more but as you said the flub is good with this one. I am glad to come across this comparison. Thanks for doing it.

Thanks Kai. Curiosity question …… and thinking outside the box here ….. in the second midi column can I assign a second crash midi note number/trigger when the primary column already has a midi note for a crash ? For example, column one has a crash midi note assigned fir cash 1, in the second column can I assign another crash midi note number for another crash ? Just looking for a work around until you guys have the chins above the hi hat options to include more than a China and have a crash option. Thanks.

OG SLO has rounder low end and Astro is little bit tighter low end.
@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab 8 дней назад
I tried measuring them and the low end was actually quite similar on these. Biggest difference seems to be the frequency roll-off in the ultra high end which I could actually match by playing around with the presence and treble but didn't want to do that for this video to show everyone how close it is.

Incredible video....to say the very least. Hitting the Like & Subscribe buttons for this video alone. I would love to have heard you try and see how close you could truly get them...although, like you said, they're incredibly close, as is. The technology involved in the Astro helps compensate for the lack of quality tubes today which has hurt the SLO over the years. But, if this comparison is with the Astro not being "dialed in", then you may be able to get sounding even better (which is a blasphemous thing to say🤣). And, btw, the recto's are close to an SLO, because (and I make NO apologies for saying this), per Friedman himself, the rectifier's pre-amp is a clone of the SLO, down to the color, and placement of the capacitors. Which is why I'll neve own a Boogie. There's no excuse for that. Yes, none of these guys invented the wheel. They're ALL based on a Fender of some sort. But, NO ONE is copying preamps down to the sheen on the solder (short of some shameless, douche in china). *That said...there's STILL nothing on the planet that has the bite, articulation, mid-focused punch, and tightness of a well-dialed in SLO 100 (especially it's "super-crunch" setting)....................nothing. As killer (and practical) as that Astro is, I think if I were in your shoes, I'd pick-up a Fryette attenuator for the 100, if volume is your main issue.*

I know that Soldano is the "holy grail" but to be honest, I couldn't really like its sound character/texture compared to also classic stuffs like boosted Marshall and Mesa (which can be very different from each other) or other unique sound characters, like a high gain Orange. (Of course, it's a matter of taste. I've never tried the head itself, my opinion was formed based on various comparative tests.)
