Doc may look creepy, works in a back alley, but you can't deny he's a professional. Once he takes you as a patient, he does the job and does the job well, and his medical advice is legitimate, even when his bedside manner sucks lol.
David simply didn’t care. I don’t blame him either. My biggest fear is being alone in this harsh world. Until he found his crew, and even then, he was alone…
I kinda wonder what Lucy is thinking with her last look back at Doc. She's a hard one to guage unless her and David are alone. I wonder what Doc thought of the edgerunner girl David kept bringing to his clinic, and if he saw her as partly to blame for David's downfall.
Funny enough, most of the problems in Edgerunners would've never even happened if David just went to a better Ripperdoc. Someone who doesn't take half-measures, uses anestetic...and doesn't jack off on the operating table.
It’s crazy, cyberware had given people so many enhancements, but at what cost ? Their sanity ? Who they were as a person ? It’s just not worth it, at least if you only install a couple things, you won’t completely lose your head
I honestly think maines arms are what pushed him over the edge (plus stress). Because it was forced into place and damaged with warped connectors. Probably woulda been better if he had better fitting cyberarms
He seemed to fully convert David so his skills seem bordering on having "help" compared to a self-taught person. David probably functions cus half of his software is home brewed by the VDBs
Geno has a Spinal Sandevastan. He dont feel any sizzle because its not connected to his brain. He adjusted to his chrome a bit and he has amplification enhancements. He isnt a cyber psycho he cares for his natural body a bit more than others.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Doc actually did bailed on NC, the look on his face and tone during Davids last visit says it all and what probably was the final nail in the coffin was when he heard of David’s death
The sad thing abot cyberpsychosis is that it is caused by a combination of factors. Amount of chrome causing high levels of strain on the brain. Mental wellbeing (trauma, emotions, etc) And the state of said implants. Old chrome breaking or malfunctioning on a PTSD ridden Veteran is a sure way of going cyberpsycho. This explains how Adam managed to not go cyberpsycho, as he is probably a motherfucker that doesn't give two shits about anything and gets top grade implants with proper maintenance. Then you have David, who deep down is a good kid. Mother died in front of his eyes, forced into a bad situation, got a high end military implant that has probably gone obsolete, found a family on a gang of gangsters and saw each one die one by one, sometimes in slow motion, then his girlfriend gets kidnapped and straps himself to a piece of chrome too big for anyone to properly handle for more than a few minutes.
As far as doctors go he isn’t anywhere near the best but at least he always was honest with David and didn’t push as much stuff as he could onto him. He knew where David was going and gave him warnings the whole way until he recognized that he reached the point of no return
In his own fucked up way he watched the kid grow up and he cared for him, most docks wouldnt even give you a heads up or a warning or anything at all but he did, he was just trying to scare him into stopping what david was doing, you can tell how mournful he was when he realized david was gonna end up another story yet again and a cycle of punks he cant convince to stop, but the irony of it is, him being a ripper doc feeds into that cycle.
I love that this show adds stuff to the chrome we know and love. Darios foot cannon, that Tyger's knee claws, mix and matching arm implants like maine does with his gorilla arm/forearm cannon combo and of course having that little elbow notch Doc's arms have (and most npcs in Cyberpunk) have an actual purpose which is detachment and reattachment. I loved this show, although I'm a bit sad they had a lot, and I mean a lot, of moments where its a single frame with no animation whatsoever and only noises in the background.
