Hi. Have been a fan of vacform models for years, Have a reasonably good size collection of vacform models, you missed the really good models from Contrail like the XB-70 and the m-52 Bounder. Also companies like Eagles Talons from the U.S that produced lots of US experimental aircraft. One thing you should mention is if want to build a vacform is that you should "really!" want that plane in your collection! If not, odds are you will stick it in your unfinished stash. Like my XB-70, started on it and then the AMT kit came out!!! Vacform models are truly a labour of love!
Congratulations David that is a fascinating subject and has a lot of appeal to those who admire the C-130 and the many and varied uses it was put to , and still is ! cheers
Great to find this.I have been making struts this way for years.I've also used bamboo barbecue sticks pined with brass and sanded to shape. A few suggestions concerning refinements;when cutting the tube,as well as rolling, run some wire through to support the tube. Also when crushing the strut, put double sided tape on one of the jaws to hold multiple struts in place.I run the wire through epoxy or superglue. This helps holding it in the tube, you can then gently file the strut ends to shapes Greetings from the UK.
Top stuff mate. I found this video while looking for paint ideas for two Bedford QL tankers in 1/35 scale to create an airfield diorama with RAAF Spitfire, Mustang, Kittyhawk and Mosquito. I'll make paint masks for the models. A wonderful resource, cheers.
