Welcome to my channel. I'm an Apache native that has been doing videos since 2010 when I first started in film school. We were told to make a channel to gain experience of our work through video. I believed I have come a long way since then and each time is a learning process for me. I try my best to film what I see and though I do lack in some areas, I try to improve on the next videos. I have gained an audience that has grown to love my videos of our Apache culture and I'm thankful to the families and friends that allow me to share my footage for them to share. I have a mixture of videos I like to post. Thanks for following my page and I appreciate all who take a chance to view my work. Ahiyee'.
I respectfully have to correct the mischaracterization of "the clown", he is NOT the clown or a clown! This is Gaan', He IS the BOSS, he is in charge of the Crown Dancers, he is the listener, the guardian, the observer, he blesses, he directs and corrects anything out of place. If you watch & observe every move he makes, you will observe there is nothing clownish that he does. He maintains the spiritual cohesion within the blessing ceremonial ground, and the Spiritual Deities far and near. The mischaracterization (clown) came from other nearby tribes, who imitated these crown dancers at their BIA boarding schools during culture appreciation days. It's not to say they had bad intentions, the cultural club's leadership didn't fully understand the overall purpose of the crown dancers, their songs, and it's spiritual meanings. As an elder, it is incumbent upon us to educate, and correct whenever, wherever we can. If we sound harsh, that is not intentional, but we have to be fair, but firm in everything we say and do! Ahee'
I'm American Indian/Native American. I live in California. Last year I went to the Morongo powwow and dressed up in a custom made jingle dress to wear there and dance. My godfather joined me...Even though I'm not enrolled in any tribe, however I still meet the blood quantum requirement. So I'm "enough* Indian blood. I wish enrollment policies would change. Having better health insurance from a group policy would be great...going to tribal events would be great too...instead I'm outcasted because of the LAW. Why not change the law so people like me get the funding they need as a minority for special benefits? I think tribal governments need to change enrollment policies and see if that will better the future for how we take care of people who identify themselves as American Indian/Native American like myself. Anyways back to my dress and dancing...I took baby steps but I joined the beautiful dancers there...and it was amazing.
This makes me cry... I miss it. I enjoy the songs n blessings that come with it. Its just sad I can never come back home. I'm not welcomed by my own family. But I urge ppl to witness what goes on with this ceremony. U will never forget it :)
Americans and Europeans have advanced technology, art, literature, transportation, mathematics, humor, law, manufacture, music, politics, weapons, materials, space exploration, and communications. Indians dance in the dirt.
What beautiful regalia and dancer!! She doing the more modern jingle dance with song 1.. I have ben advised that ghe old traditional jingle dance in song 2 does not allow dancers to cross their legs. Simply awesome.
The third had talent that the other two did AND the third adds usher her own uniqueness. Over all she deserved it. That’s my opinion. Each dancer were great tho.
