Hi, if you need both the embed feature, and a clickable link to open in another tab, I think you could implement another field to output the same pdf file upload as a link. As always in Drupal, there are many ways to do that. External Links (extlink) is also useful module to ensure sitewide your PDF links or external URLs open in another tab or window. Or do you mean output a clickable link, and open the viewer display in a modal or popup?
