That looked like flipping hard work! Huge respect to you for sticking with it, we guess back in the day there wasn't the option of getting the lighter out instead 😂🙈. Never would have said that was possible, the replay was so satisfying🙌 🔥 All the best, Pete and Shell

I bow before thee mighty fire god. I never would have thought it possible, having briefly tryed it myself. Primitive ways are fascinating me, just to get a glimpse of the huge journey we have taken but also how we have adapted along the way gj my friend and thanks for sharing 👍👍

Thanks 🙏 definitely took some time and patience using this method. Shows how amazing amadou is and also the time it took our ancestors, that's largely why they'd have carried fire from one place to another on those bracket funguses because it was such a ballache to get one going in the first place 😅

Did you just the clay and water or did you add any other ingredients like straw?
@storbunlimitedbushcraft6996
@storbunlimitedbushcraft6996 11 дней назад
Just mud and water yeah. Next time I'll think about adding some charcoal or sand as temper to try and dry it out more evenly and possibly burnish it. This was just a very rough and ready experimental process thing. 💜🤙🏽 Thanks for watching and commenting!

Some research will tell you that humans first used fire 1.9 million - 2 million years ago when Homoerectus first emerged. However, stronger scientific evidence shows at least 400 thousand years ago. Albeit, I understand we would have controlled wildfires before creating fire ourselves. I still firmly believe hominoids used and created fires themselves closer to 2 Million Years ago. The fact that we used stone tools suggests to me that we were able to make fire much sooner than some archaeology predicts.

Really good video! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 One tip: you need to balance the audio during editing. Increase the volume in the clips where it's low with the clips that are 'normal' volume. The part where you were showing the the vessel wet on the board, the volume was too low. I turned up the volume, in order to hear, but then when it cut to you facing the camera and talking, it about blew out my ear drums.

It did to me when covered in batter and seasoning! Granted, not fresh of the tree unseasoned. Worth noting that leataporus sulphureus tastes very different when picked old, it usually tastes like chicken when young but can taste bitter and acrid when too old. Also worth noting what trees you pick it from as when picked on a yew tree it can absorb some of the alkaoids which can be semi toxic. Safe foraging and thanks for watching!
