Welcome to my channel and the home of Mike & Max’s Offroad Podcast. I’m Mike Austin and I have the 48 Willys cj2a that is stretch and built into a street driven Rock Crawler. I love to shoot videos outside in nature and love the adventures it takes me on. I have a production business so if you have questions or are looking for some help in video or podcasting message me
both my wife and dad are terminal with life expectancy for dad being maybe a year. he gave me his jeep liberty because since my wife got sick i have not worked and our old vehicle blew the motor, so he help us. but when they are both gone, i want to rebuild my dads jeep into a proper over-lander, with serious capability. this video was just the sort of extreme mod i was hoping to find. i think i intend to stress it less but i want to know it can, because i want to take my wife and dad to the top of the world and see the northern lights together. even if it is in spirit only. keep safe, have fun and thanks for the mod tips.
@@allenflud I’m sorry to hear about your family. My deepest condolences. I hope you get do that plan. I think that jeep is a great platform. Good luck friend.
@KeepItSimpleOffroad I'd appreciate that. There's no way I can run mine so I'm so curious. I'm guessing either he moved his axle way over. Or has a triangulated rear. So the axle comes straight down and doesn't swing.
I trimmed the right side of the pinion guard, trimmed the gas tank skid and moved the axle to the driver side 1/4".On that shakedown run it caught and bent the gas tank skid on the first obstacle.
This is great! I am looking to solid axle swap my Liberty soon. What size tires are you running? What axles? 1 tons? How are you getting an alignment close enough that it doesn’t wear the tires off on the road?
Thanks for watching these are Dodge 1 ton axles We just aligned them by a tape measure in the driveway no camber adjustment there and the caster was set when we did the axle brackets the only thing to set was toe The wires are 40’s
Just came across this video. Hope you are well. Appreciate the content!! You asked for feedback: I’d encourage you to do this style visual edit but with voice over instructions / narration. 👍👍 love the quality of work, the case looked really professional after you were done. Great prep and execution! Wondering why not set it up for twin sticks??
Following this video as I rebuild. Great stuff. Installing my idler shaft and torque and torqued to 150lbs. Zero end play and the idler spins with some resistance. The bearings are brand new. Is this common?
So if I remember correctly the shins are to get you into the correct pressure. If you have no shims it squeezes the case to tight. You’d end up with no end play and the bearing would be too tight and end in failure. I’ll have to refer back to the book tonight and get back to you. If someone else can chime in that knows for sure feel free.
@@KeepItSimpleOffroad With all 4 shims and 150lbs there is no end play. the gear spins but freely. Not sure if this is because the bearings are new? Should I remove shims?
Man...i really wish you would repost this without the music and explain what you are doing as you do it...and give us helpful tips and tricks....cool video....
Thanks. I wanna say you’re the 1st person to ask for that. Most prefer no talking. Lots of people have asked questions in the comments which all have been answered. The only real tricks are the light in the roll pins and the plastic pipe that gets pushed out. Both are in the video. Anything I can help with specifically ask away or send a dm. Thanks for watching!
Man thank you so much for the video! This helped me SO much! I even played it just to listen to the music while doing my 205. I really appreciate the time, detail, and effort. I had never done this before and it seemed very complicated to me. But this helped make this something that I could do on my own. Thanks again!!
Quick question. When installing the yoke for the rear output, the splined rubber seal won’t slide down along the splines of the shaft more than 1/8”. Did you experience this?
Great video. Right in the middle of a Ford NP205 Rebuild and already had the manual you showed on the way, but I'm not sure I need it after watching your video. Other videos I watched left out the checking of the endplay. I'm sure the manual will explain that in detail. Liked/Subscribed! Thank you!
That was one of the most informative videos on the capabilities or "Tools" of a vehicle I have ever seen! You should do a part 2! I truly had no idea of the innovativeness of off roading!!!! 10 out of 10!!!!
