Kim Justice's Wrestling Road is a series of documentaries chronicling the art of professional wrestling, with a particular focus on Japan and Puroresu.
I got one from Mid-South/UWF: Gary Young = Won a match and came back as "Gorgeous Gay Young" with blonde hair, Superman theme, valet, another jobber as his muscle...
Man. You guys should look up Electric Eric Freedom. Or Eric Freedom. He was a great seller. His match with Jake Robert's was a great 5 minute sell. Really got that heat for Robert's. The guys who go completely unnoticed grinds my gears. Eric taught me to take bumps years ago. I learned from one of the best.
WWE had such a thin roster in the mid-90s, that they had problem filling the 30 men Royal Rumble, and had to call in wrestlers from outside the WWE like Dick Murdoch or Carlos Colon, to get 30 men. So not a surprise jobbers like Barry Horowitz or Rad Radford (Louie Spicolli) out of desperation got pushed up to "superstar" status. And God, I hated the tiny asparagus 1-2-3 Kid. He symbolized the wasteland WWE became in the wake of the steroid trials.
At 04:07 when Horowitz sign the contract, i see "Super Catch 90" Whats is "Super Catch 90"? Is Brazilian TV Rede Manchete Which broadcast the WWF in 1994 and 1995, unfortunately in 1999 this channel went bankrupt The history of WWE on Brazilian TV is very interesting In 2008, RAW was broadcast and SmackDown had the most memorable fight being Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton when Hardy jumped 20 feet.
Other than Barry Horowitz the Brooklyn brawler was my 2 favorite jobbers. There was plenty of jobbers that went on to be superstars such as the Hardy's.
Oh wow, I've seen your content before but saw someone mention you'd done a video on this match & came to watch. I didn't realise this match meant anything to anyone else. This was my first introduction to KENTA, Noah & probably Japanese Pro wrestling in general. I remember tuning into 'The Wrestling Channel" at around 2 in the morning & seeing this match & being blown away. KENTA instantly became my favourite wrestler & Noah my favourite promotion. I followed his career through the injuries, the switch to Heavyweight, the Ghc Championship win & his move to America. I still watch this match every few years for the nostalgia & as a reminder why i fell in love with 'Puroresu.'
I thought Horowitz's win was a result of Shawn Micheals' backstage politics? Micheals didn't like Skip because he had the audacity to be dating his girlfriend.
dude i totally forgot that all this shit was apart of the plan until i saw that neckbreaker at 16:43. i was literally so invested into suwa's work that i forgot this was wrestling.
This is a great history lesson in NOAH's overseas activities during that mid 2000s boom period. I had no idea Misawa wrestled in some random Scottish hall in front of a handful of people, that's mind blowing.
If the NFL could put a punter ( Ray guy ) and a kicker ( Jan Stenerud ) into their Hall of Fame , why is there no jobbers ? These are the guys who make the stars STARS ? They take the beatings from no talents , like Hulk Hogan , all their careers with little pay and no medical coverage ? Ray and Jan earned their places in the HOF , and so did these Jobbers. Must your HOF also be scripted ? But then again look at your leader , Vince the scum bag ! The A-hole had the balls to make himself a WWF champion . They called Caligula a mad man for making his horse a Senator and a Consul . The fans know who the meat and potatoes guys / gals were !
The Atlanta jobbers at Georgia Championship Wrestling and the various names in NWA weren't generally as good as the WWF jobbers. But a guy named Mike Jackson showed actual in-ring talent. He would get in some offense and was good enough that the heel would sell for him before he'd finally lose. Then there's the infamous win of the scrub Mulkey twins in what was presented as a massive fluke. They beat a mid-level heel team called the Gladiators on TBS. I'm sure it's out there on RU-vid.
im pretty neutral on Meltz. i dont hate him nor do i wish ill will towards him but i disagree with some of his ratings. even tho this match did create AEW, Jericho/Omega wasn't a 5 star for me personally. 4 stars sure but not a epic encounter. i think HHH/Taker End of an Era was a 5 star match and to me, it's one of my fav Mania Matches. if Meltz actually had an establish criteria for his scores than it would make sense to me. Taker/Angle didn't win match of the year in 06 in neither WON nor PWI, in WON, it was that 6 man tag in roh and in PWI, for some reason, it was HBK/Vince at WM22. and that Taker/Angle match is a top match in both men careers
Your claim that AEW doesn't chase Meltzer stars is to be quite frank, horseshit. "The Meltzer Driver" carries a significant amount of "Senpai, watashi ni kitsuite kudesai" energy.
I am just learning about Dump Mataumoto since there will be a Netflix show about her in September 2024. I've watched wrestling for years and I never heard about her. She reminds me of the original Sheik and Abdullah the Butcher. I am looking forward to her Netflix special.
