Thanks so much! <3 Why does this song in particular do decent in the algorithm? Is it because it has "booty" in the name? Should all my tracks have "booty" in the name? Much to ponder..
Huh! That's wild. Big fan of Finn McKenty and big fan of Nintendocore. That's unfortunate to hear. I didn't see this stream, though I got similar vibes when he trashed indie music. I got the sense that he equated the commercial use/success of a lot of those songs with every band and hipster fan automatically being hypocritical and money hungry. That's not the case for everyone, and it doesn't mean the music is all shallow or worthless. Glad to find your channel as well! I like Horse the Band, and have loved 8 bit music since I was little. Excited to check out your stuff. ❤
Ayy, glad you found the channel! Yeah I think Finn can be sweeping in his opinions. Then again, he probably exagerates some things for the sake of content as well. That's not a burn, just playin the game. If ya didn't know I covered five Horse the Band songs, you might wanna check that out first! Thanks so much for giving it a chance at all! <3
They didn’t make up the term and they actually think the term is dumb. I’ve listened to podcasts with them where they make fun of people who call them that.
The word Nintendocore appears on their demo from 2001. If you know of the word being used before that, educate me! And I address in the video that they distanced themselves from the term later, and why I think they did so.
All the bands did really great! This was a fun watch! Absolutely loved Weekly Words & Grammar's performance, every single Mike did his best for that. DunkTank had an interesting sound, will def check out some more later. Giant Enemy Crab really surprised me, they sound fantastic! I ran to look em up but was sad to see they've only posted 1 single so far. Very excited to hear more from them! Unicorn Hole was ok I guess. Except for Dustin since he bleeped me out tho. Heck him!
"Ok I guess" is what we strive for! WWG's video was hilarious, every WIP he'd show me had me rolling. DunkTank is wonderfully weird, so stoked to bring him into our community. And yeah, GEC definitely needs to get on that. So happy with how this turned out!
I've seen a handful of bands calling themselves that! Anti-PizzaBoy has an album called Super Segacore 20XX. ThyHarvesting also has some, like his BAHAMUT track, and his [BIO-NETWORK] album. I'm positive I've seen more here and there as well. :0
Great name having Snow in it since you SNOW FLAKS change your name just to make a man in Antarctica happy . Hello they don't have Internet there so why ??
@@Uhole oh hi, since I got you here I have a question that's been burning a hole in my brain. There a few parts of 2020 two that sound strikingly similar to parts of the old SeA and AaS EPs. Am I mistaken or are those homage to classic electrionicore moments
@@k1xnt Oh, I'd be very interested to hear specific moments. I've listened to Sky Eats Airplane a fair bit (video coming v soon on this channel about them), but Abandon All Ships I don't think I've ever actually listened to at all. There were no intentional direct references on my part, or Michael's as far as I know. Probably just certain tropes that rise to the top when combining metal and electronic sounds. I'll see if Michael has anything else to say on it :0
@@Uhole you think this is a game boy sounds a lot like the end bit of this song around 3:2O ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cWNmZWYksy8.htmlsi=oep9bhzRQu-eO23d 1:1O of 2020 Too sounds like the vocals at 3:O3 of ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DXF9T-mCPn4.htmlsi=yzJA69tlpIo_ZdEZ 2:O0 at gamer zone sounds like 1:5O of this song ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2qWO6OF0VXg.htmlsi=HS-XirZI5sqmkg8n I figured I was inventing connections though, like you said, core tropes
@@k1xnt Daaaaang, first of all I really appreciate you listening enough to catch things like this! You're obviously a huge fan of SEA and AAS to catch this stuff. The first one you mentioned does sound similar for sure. I wrote that song in LSDJ (music writing on Game Boy if you don't know) and did a techno-ish drum beat because I wanted it to be boppy. The SEA song has a similar drum beat, and thus a similar dancey feel. And both are using a basic square wave instrument, so tonally they're similar too. Awesome catch, I probably wouldn't have thought of it but they're definitely the same vibe. The second one is such a crazy catch, haha. You're right, the patterns are similar. I think in our case it's a result of Michael and me taking turns doing a few syllables, and so they kinda fell in that pattern. I had only heard Abandon All Ships a couple times before today, but I bopped them at lunch after your other comment and damn, I can't wait to listen to more. They're so sick. (I vaguely remembered two songs, I was wrong that I'd never listened at all.) I think in the third example you're talking about the dissonance, or panic chords as they're called in metal. Another cool catch. I'm super impressed you found these. I can say they weren't intentional, just happy little accidents. But hey, if we're doing stuff that these bands did then we're doin alright!
even if he doesn't like the Nintendocore revival stuff of today, how the FUCK does any '-core' fan listen to Desperate Living and think 'sorry, the beep boops make this unlistenable'.
1-st I started work on 2D Run ' n' Gun platformer in space - many planets, cyber-implants and many other (concept - fun visual + brutal)... But to all of this i need more skill and experience, and i decided do somesing easier. Now I work on TopDown PvP ArenaShooter in western/steampunk setting. Mechanics in progress, guns and buffs olmost done, but need to balance and more content. P.S. Sorry for my english :)@@Uhole
@@feostun8385 Both of those sound awesome! Are you posting pictures and stuff somewhere? I'd like to take a peek. Also, don't apologize for your English when I'm a dumb American who barely speaks any other language :0
@@SuperWardBros Heck yeah! That was one of the very first ideas I had when I knew we were gonna be a four-piece, each calling out one character's action to lead into a big breakdown. Glad ya dig it!
Rad stuff guys! PK Rockin is defo my fave on the album! The only thing that would have made this video better would have been if i was there for real life to watch this go down :')
I think a lot of bands like that do call themselves Nintendocore, and it's not wrong per se. The second episode of this, which I just need to finish editing, oops, has The Advantage as one of the bands. 👀
