These Vlogs are a video diary of our travels in the caravan, a Sterling Eccles 580 (2016). We aim to capture reviews at Club, CL & Private sites and journeys/arrivals to them. This might help others interested in visiting in the future. If you could see our front room now it is full of our caravan stuff as we had to have it empty for a service. Everything we use and still have space in the van but what I will do, like Helen, is to put things in storage boxes then in the cupboard to save time emptying it at the next service 👍
I love the unwritten rule that seems to be on caravan/camping sites to respect other peoples pitches but it only takes one person to help themselves to ruin that 😢
Just got rid of our porch awning and gone for the sun canopy like yourselves - awning seemed to be a dumping ground and after 4 days in Cayton bay after this wet weather it was a bugger to dry!
On watching your you tube video we have bought the air pro 300 for our 2 berth along with the air beam fencing - just got rid of the awning as it became a “dumping ground”and quite dark inside. Thankyou for your recommendation- just hope Santa gets me the side panels now 😂
Stayed a couple of times at the Lighthouse, I agree the food is very good, big sign on their shower facilities NOT FOR NELSON CUSTOMERS, 😂 Didn’t know about the owls, were @ Sandygulls next year so will definitely ring to go, love owls.
They don't make these in the states. I wonder if you've had anyone order a caravan and had it shipped to California ? I really like the design of having a living room in front, instead of a bedroom. I've been admiring the Coachman model, but these seem just as nice

Hi Dave - I know this video was posted a while ago, but surely your insurance company should be reported to the financial ombudsman services. No surprise our insurance keeps going up each year. One tip and insider knowledge…it doesn’t pay to stay with the same insurance company, after 3 years your premium will go up and you are better off taking your policy out with another insurance company. Daft as it may sound…

I think the insurance companies pass the info on to 3rd parties who then make contact with all of the info and perhaps give you the impression they are calling from your insurer. I'm a newbie caravanner as from April this year and am here exactly 2 years after you posted this video. A lot of useful tips and I'm hoping to have a few trips over autumn and winter too! The woolly pully for the aquaroll looks smart and an excellent idea. I don't tend to get cold at night (I have a fan on even through winter!) ATB Roz 😊

Just a thought for your viewers dave everybody knows caravans depreciate so why is it when you see an unsold van in a dealers 6months later the price is still the same a dealers near me are selling a 2011 swift challenger for £11000 its not worth that money but theyve had it for months maybe you could do a video on depreciation which vans are the best or worst for it a lot of people would watch that sort of thing
Nelson's Patch is one of our favourites, in fact we are there tonight in the vloggers pitch - pitch 13. Last time it was pitch 14. We'll be eating in the Lighthouse Inn as well!

Hi guys lovely site,shame they don't have facilities, the restaurant bar and food looked good. Loved the owls they were awesome, we visited a place like that in dorset on our hols,they did flying displays absolutely brilliant. Hope helens feeling ok noticed she has been wearing the shoulder pad, getting older is no fun 🙄🙄 take care of each other,see you soon xx

We often visit Nelson patch and really enjoy it, we have seen your friends house with the owl sign outside. Do they allow the public to come and see the Owls as my wife has a real interest in Owls and would love to see them close up ?

Norfolk is our go to place anyway. Lighthouse wow, as for the owls somthing Su would not miss. We have owls all over even on the front door. Not real ones of course. Brilliant vlog guys thank you. Lovely video my sister lives at Walcott I gave her a wave 😂Helen I can definitely recommend the Victoria sponge cake at Walcott cafe … the video brought so many happy memories of my childhood spent in Happisburgh where my grandma lived in a wood hut left over from the war to say it was quirky was an understatement! But I loved it not so when she washed my hair from the rainwater out of the waterbutt😮 my cousin and I used to count how many times the lighthouse would shine through the little wooden windows before we fell asleep it was magical of course I had to take my granddaughter to visit she loved the lighthouse the beach and my sisters little house by the sea thank you again for a lovely video Take care on your journeys 😊

Hi Helen and Dave, remember us, your "stalkers". We have just got back from our trip to IOW and New Forest. You were spot on, easy to follow the signs for the ferry in Portsmouth. Our problem was finding Portsmouth !!! We took wrong exit from M27 but soon back on track. Whitefield Forest site was superb, only been there an hour and a Red Squirrel ran across my path. Will definitely go again in the hope we have better weather, rained 4 days out of the 6 full days we were there. Did'nt spoil our stay and it certainly improved when we were back on mainland. @@HelenandDave Hi Both, we are off in about 3 weeks to see the "Standing With Giants" silhouettes which was on display on the Normandy beaches for the D-Day celebration in June. They have been brought back and some of them, not all, will be displayed in the National Trust's Stowe Gardens in Buckinghamshire. We are booked into Glebe Leisure caravan site nearby for 4 nights, so probably do Oxford as well. Might be last outing of the year but will see what weather is like in November. Just seen on news a caravan site near earls barton has had to be evacuated due to flooding good luck to them getting vans off the site some will be ruined

Just recently spent a week or so at Bridlington Caravan and Motorhome site near Flamborough Head. When I was there, the wardens spoiled my stay completely by their pedantic adherence to rules. 4 times I was told off for breaking their silly rules, that add nothing to safety, from what i did. They were truly overbearing, too officious and because of this ruined our stay. We will never go back there again. I would advise them, if I could, to take on new roles as traffic wardens. It would suit them well. Do they not realise that their main role is to welcome people and make their stay a happy one, so they come back ? Instead it seems to be a power trip for them, imposing their will, on victims who camp there. By the way, it is illegal for camp sites to use cctv, if they are not informing campers of it's use with proper and adequate signage and why they are using it. Camp sites must follow GDPR rules by law and not spy on people without their knowledge.

Hi, that's not good when you leave feeling like you never want to go back, though years ago myself and the wife said we would only ever return to a site if we really enjoyed it, we have only ever had one very bad trip to a CCC site at Oldbury, where I was rudely accused of breaking into the disabled toilets because I hadn't picked up a key, and true to our word we've never been near the place since, camping or with the caravan, hope you made complaint to the club about your treatment and about the usage of the CCTV in that way. @mentalneil They are only interested in money. I will just vote with my feet. On one point of note from the C&MC, how can they allow electric cars to be charged outside the pegged habitation area, bringing the fire risk closer to the next pitch, which in all other cases, where there is no money involved, is not allowed ?
Hi Dave, most interesting although I did squirm when you ran your hand under the tyre, however as I do not anticipate changing a wheel [leave that to the RAC!], does the caravan include it's own jacking point? [Swift Challenger 480se 2024]
Hi John, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I'm not certain about your specific model but from what I can gather most caravans are jacked underneath the axle (the strongest point) RAC/Green Flag would also be my first point of call, assuming I can get a phone signal and as we are often away in the sticks that can sometimes be an issue, which is why I decided to get this particular jack. The car jack wouldn't be suitable as our motor mover inhibits access to the axle but this comes with a bracket that is designed to fit onto the Al-Ko frame. Been caravanning for 8 years, out almost every week and never had a puncture and hope it stays that way but at least I know that should the worst happen and I can't get through to the recovery service, then I can hopefully get out of trouble.
