Yea the cap was 140 I believe but yea that ultimately hurt us! They also told Doc he can't have us out past a certain time. Basically to say they need to give band members time to go get homework and projects done.
This is comparing apples and oranges! 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ a band with less than 125 members and a band with 250+. D1 band with a D2 band! Sorry but both bands did great! The hate for small bands is sad! It be your own people!
DCI is students ages 14 to 21 (mainly college students and advance high schoolers). The season technically starts in late November, early December with auditions. From January to April, you will generally have mostly music rehearsals once a month on a weekend. And then beginning in May, you start having rehearsals every weekend and will begin to learn drill and visuals. Competitions begin at the end of June and since students will then be on summer break, you can have rehearsals on weekdays. The season last until the second week of August which is when Finals take place in Indianapolis.
So about the numbers game their have been situations occur with administration having an over opinionated voice on the size of a program JCSU is going through that right now. When I was at SSU in 06' they were about to scrap the band. It's a few other programs out there are going through this whole situation I believe. - Solution - So band is more than just a sport. Like Travis said the band is the face of the HBCU. (Not asking for special privileges) But there should be a specific special deposit for allocated funds for the band program. -issue- 1. With an allocated budget, the director of Bands needs to bring proper talent and be talented enough to know his/her strong points and read the room off of that. 2. On having access to said funds, recruitment process needs to be well rounded. 3. Have more love for the program as you have love for other programs around campus
One word for ScSU : get a tuner.I haven't heard a college band play so badly out of tune as this recording . It's cool to have your favorite songs but please play in tune.
That was a very big stage for them and all of us... Shouldn't have been any struggle there (I even saw miseducation on how to tailor fit the band uniforms). I like Miles band I really do... Imma a old time 1990 1993 BCU tuba player. If we did a show like that are band director Dr. Bray would probably have us roll the field. 80% Good 20% Other B-
I really enjoyed this TXSU arrangement of Blame it. JSU set the standard with this song several years ago when the song 1st came out, only they play it somewhat faster and I think they were the only band to play it until now.
There were 2 vets in white also. If this was their first fan day, they were in white, and 2 of the vets didn't do fan day last season. The rest of the maroon were vets.
Travis, I'm glad to see you on the show. I like your ear and attention to detail. I did hear what you mentioned with the March FAMU play at the 9:49 mark. I thought it was acoustic, or someone playing a crescendo earlier.
