There are only 3 remaining major airlines in the USA now. American, Delta, and United Airlines. American Airlines bought out TWA, Delta bought out Northwest Orient, and Eastern went bankrupt, and closed up shop in 1991. Hopefully those who worked for Northwest, TWA, and Eastern were able to find other jobs.
I know...it's a little crazy how many airlines disappeared! 😦 As a child and young adult, I flew on an airline called "Western...." It was also bought by Delta.
What a beautiful video!! I am partial to the volcanic mountains that you pointed out, but the whole video was just lovely. Thank you so much for sharing it!!
The sounds of spring are marvelous. I walk very early in the morning with a friend, and I always turn my hearing aides up a bit just to thoroughly enjoy the bird choirs that are singing vigorously in the early morning!
Yeah, I call those "phone jarring" landings, as that's the camera I use. 🤣 Some landings barely jostle at all, so those are the smooth (like "butter") landings. However, the kind of landing in this video is known in aviation terminology as a "firm" landing...nothing wrong with it! I probably felt it more, too, because I was sitting close to the wing. 🙂
@@shutterbugshirlstravels Yes, I had one of those when landing in Atlanta a few months back. There were more than a few gasps from passengers. It had been a turbulent flight as well. I know that it is common and very normal, but it is still a little jarring.😳 I had not heard that it was called a “firm” landing. Good name! LOL
@@beckybauer893 For some reason, the new 737 Max jets land more smoothly. If you haven't seen this yet, watch this video of mine for comparison! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CzwfCK5lUPg.html
OMG, What are the odds?? I was also at the Hyatt Regency and took the noon train home on Oct 31st of last year. Only difference is, I got off the train in Olympia. So I wouldn't have been in the same car as you. But this was a fun video to watch. Too bad you didn't show the Olympia/Lacey station.
Thanks for watching! This video is Part 3 of a sort of "series," and I tried to make it a little different than the first two, Parts 1 and 2, which feature the Coast Starlight. In those videos, I show the Olympia station. But the Cascades has that extra stop between Olympia and Seattle at Tukwila, so I focused on that one in Part 3. Do you ride Amtrak very often?
@@shutterbugshirlstravels I do the Cascades between Olympia and Portland about every other month. I have friends I visit and since I stay at the Hyatt, a round trip ticket (in advance) is cheaper than a single night of parking. Towards the end of your video, you recorded the original Cascade cars. I miss those and they had a little bit more leg room (and they sometime showed movies). But with the pandemic and social distancing, they switch to the current cars. (I believe they are longer and hold more folks). I don't think Amtrak will switch back to the old cars since we (Northwest Area) are sladed to be the first to get the brand new fleet of Amtrak trains in 2025. Oh, and the only reason I asked about the Olympia stop was due to the fact I was on the very same train and was wondering if I made a cameo in your video. Keep on traveling.
@Mo Moore Aww, I'm sorry I didn't get you in my video. 😁 This is the first time (that I know of) that someone who watched one of my videos was actually at the same place/same time (i.e. same flight, train, etc.) as I was! 😮 I'm also looking forward to the new trains. 🙂
I walk very early in the morning, starting right at dawn. The bird “choir” is amazing this time of the year. I turn up my hearing aides while walking so that it will be even louder, since it is such a sweet, beautiful sound.
