Music from the end of the 110 - Where the freeway ends and life begins. All Live, all day, all dogs, no cats From San Pedro Ca. actually LA proper. Annexed for the harbor, Pedro's geographical location is known as Hollywood's backlot and only 30 minutes away, but it might as well be the moon. Known by the rest of LA for the Port, where longshoremen strike and homeless make camps. San Pedro is physically and mentally secluded from LA and with only 4 ways in. I grew up here - boiling in the melting pot. Pedro is it's own style. Who knew? Do you care? Exactly! When the 1st video cameras became available in 1987 I pre-vlogged music. Who knew my annoying tactics to obtain footage would become a skill? When I started there was no one to copy and nowhere to publish. I had to tie people down in front of a 19' Sony Trinitron for views. RU-vid? Nope. Stay tuned kiddies. I am in the process of editing 33 years of rants, music and some true conspiracy stories that we called facts. Kill me now
George Hurley is a special drummer. Very respectful of the song and at the same time capable of dressing it in a singular way. Equipped with a rare finesse in the punk world, never gratuitous or out of context because he built the plot of the sound of the band precisely thanks to his skill on the drums, becoming an inner and necessary part of each tune. Definitely a reference.
the literal fact that he was wanting to party but at the same time was gathering clothes for to donate to an orphange speaks volumes. he wanted good times for him and to make good times for others
Larry and I were best friends for a long time, along with Duane Summers and Robert Hoyt we played a lot of music together. RIP old friend. Chris North was in my band "The Living End" in junior high, he went to Dodson and I went to Dana.
The quality of this is really good. Heartbreaking to watch and now know what was coming for D. Boon. 🙁 I took flowers to his grave on April 1st for his 66th bday (some to his mom as well). Rest well in Peace 🙏
I am in process of reading Craig Ibarra's book, A Wailing of a Town... Got it at a celebration of D. Boon's birthday at The Sardine in Pedro on April 1st (2024). It was a fascinating era of music. D. Boon, I didn't know you but wish I had. ❤🙏
The people will survive In their environment The dirt, scarcity and the emptiness Of our south The injustice of our greed The practice we inherit The dirt, scarcity and the emptiness Of our south There on the beach I could see it in her eyes I only had a Corona Five-cent deposit
I assumed this band were a one hit wonder, a country band with a little ditty that got used on the Jackass shows. I slept on this band for the longest time. The Minutemen are AMAZING seek out their music and the documentar(ies) on them
Bless you brother for sharing this unbelievable footage of a band who should've been appreciated and documented more than they were. If not for them and all the other van traveling , tape swapping , work a shit job to keep gigging, DIY champions and their fans, that means you, a lot of their "children" never would've been born. A million Coronas to you sir and thank you from a Punk drummer from back in those days.
I got to know this band waaay later, even after jack s, I learned this band when the singer died. A comedian died. Rorschach diary page 12. Not one song about beans. 🃏
