Michigan Great Outdoors is my personal you tube page. Previously Polack Outdoors was a page I started to make videos for my kids and family to easily watch and share hunts and adventures. Its still me the Polack making home videos of my hunting and fishing short films with some product reviews sprinkled in.
I also like to help other hunters with hunting tactics and by doing product reviews on items I purchase. Hopefully these reviews can help the normal guy in making purchasing decisions!
Please subscribe and share if you like the videos! Remember to get outside and do something!!

Ive had the same experience with the hornady black almost zero blood trail every time. Im using the exact same AR as you. Ive been nuch happier with the performance of federal ammo since switching 3 years ago
Congratulations on the doe. It’s good to have some meat in the freezer. 🥩🍔 Good luck with the upcoming seasons. After checking out the content on your RU-vid channel I subscribed. Looking forward to future hunt videos. 👍🏼
Thanks! You too! I appreciate you subbing to my channel, I used to have a lot more hunts on this channel and then RU-vid started beating up the hunting channels, so I took a lot of them down. I look forward to posting more this season. Good luck to you as well!!
Lonewolf needs to stop piece mealing add-ons. My .5 should have come with the mesh seat, not the tiny, uncomfortable foam seat. That's about the only ad on that i'll use considering I have to hump my gear up-and-down North Idaho.
I notice you have a very short bridge. This is what pulls the bridge loops close to each other and causes hip pinch. I had to keep a short bridge today for crossbow hunting and after 6.5 hours I came home with sores on my hips. I’m buying one!!!
I tried to figure out an ultra compact one-stick recently. I used a triple step aider, attached to 2 hawk monkey bars on a single strap for the ‘stick’ the aider was unstable at times likely due to the instability of the hawk rope step. But, I think these would be the trick to fix that. Then you’d have a 2”x8”x6” one-stick that weighs at or under under 2lb. And it would almost fit in a cargo pocket. That would be pretty sick.
I shot a buck once with my bow with 6”s of fresh snow. Same angle as your shot. Never found a single drop of blood. Went 200yds. Took me 8 hours to find darn buck.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Arrow went behind shoulder just hit liver and guts. I figured heck 6” of fresh snow this thing will be easy to find. Ya right! 8 hours later after looking all day on the day before Thanksgiving I found him just before dark. I shot him with my bow in gun season so that was kind of cool. But looking for 8 hours without a darn drop of blood sure wasn’t. He mingled with other deer tracks so I couldn’t just find and follow his. I couldn’t believe as I was walking out basically giving up and I looked over and there he was.
I went out bow hunting that weekend. It was a good hunt, but the sent that morning was tough to beat with zero wind and i got caught. Unfortunately, other hunters had no clue people could hunt that weekend and were out scouting for hunting season so my hunt ended early. I can't really blame them with the DNR only releasing a digital digest though.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors i tried to buy one on there website and it said no shipping available for michigan but im not far away from there hq so idk how to get one
I love cool gear…and I hate to be the “my grandpa killed deer in a red flannel and blue jeans” guy….but that said…I spend +/- $160 a year on 12 Gold Tips that tune great and kill. I MAY consider them at that cost FOR A DOZEN…if they perform significantly better. Even then…
I went w/ the Skeletors for this very reason but, I'm honestly kind of upset w/ myself for not getting the one sticks now.... Pretty massive difference in the weight for real.
Ive lived in michigan for 10 years now and im finally getting back out to go hunting i live in metro detroit and totally wouldnt mind hunting does its meat on the table. Im really interested in the urban archery hunt i need more info on that
Unfortunately I was to sick to hunt the early doe season. I wonder how guns going off in the public woods two weekends in a row will affect the deer movement for bow season if at all. Nice doe! How do you zoom with the phone camera? Remote or actually just zoom with fingers on the screen? Congrats!
@PBAdventures146 thanks, I just zoomed in on the screen with my fingers, it was kind of foggy and lower light so it looks a little grainy but it's halfway decent
I couldn’t believe how packed the public was for early doe. I packed up and left and I know it’s gonna have massive effect on bow season. I’m guessing it’s going to really screw up early season bow hunting which was some of my favorite time to hunt in previous years.
Don’t forget that small game season opened on September 15th. There are some people who don’t deer hunt but want to get out in the woods for squirrels or rabbits as soon as they can. It’s not just deer hunters out in the woods with guns.
I’m with you, I won’t shoot a doe with a fawn. I did it once, and had her two fawns and a yearling come through. They decided to bed around her. I felt like watery dog shit afterwards. I got her aged due to the size and it came back 9.5 years old. I’m in a bow only county.
Kuiu is really good stuff... But they do run small I would check and see when the next outdoor event is coming to town and see if the kuiu trailer and crew will be present.... Also the customer service is amazing if you do have to return an item.
Hey I hunt a lot of Oakland county puplic land, what phone arm are you using?? Been wanting to get into recording my hunts with just my iPhone to start with, any arm recommendations?
Man you scared the crap out of me when that gun went off I thought you were bow hunting lol. It always makes.you feel a little sad when that happens shows your human a hunter not just a killer. Congrats on the doe. Darren
Congratulations on the deer! That iPhone did OK, color was good, zoom was OK. I would keep using it to cut weight on a remote spot. Were you using an external mic? I’m here in WI, don’t you need blaze when in the tree in MI.
Yeah, I thought the zoom sucked, it was kind of foggy as well as overcast…. I wish I hadn’t zoomed in and just zoomed in during the editing process as I was filming in 4k. No external microphone but I need one. Im currently looking at available options. I think this will be my lightweight camera setup for remote hunts. We have to wear orange always in any firearm season.
I had my headphones in and the sound up pretty high- i about pooped myself because i was expecting that you were using your bow and the gun shot caught me by surprise- LOL.
That's not a fawn buddy that's a deer and would have been my second tag .. They call that veil in the cow world .. I had big fat doe jump out behind me was on a pipe line could have ran one up the caboose but had my 450 bushmaster and didn't want lead flying 2/300 yards out...
Congrats on the doe! Personally I’m a glutton for punishment and want the best footage possible so a phone won’t cut it for me (but I also enjoy the challenge of self-filming.) If you’re happy with the results from your phone, that’s all that matters 👍
You've kind of inspired me to start making more RU-vid videos. I SUCK at editing tho....lol. I've got an old Garmin action cam, going to pick up a Go Pro eventually
The amazing administration at the midnr decided we do not need a deer hunting digest this year so enjoy sifting through multiple pages of absolut nonsense.
The majority of this episode was filmed on an Iphone 13 Pro, I will be experimenting with cell phone filming more this season. Let me know your thoughts.
We film all our hunts exclusively on cell phones. We have a couple pro level camcorders but in the end we find the cell cam a better option for self filming. Small, light and most likely everyone already has one so use it. Maybe carry a go pro for second angle but once you get used to using it as there is some adjustments with cell phone but once you figure it out it’s pretty slick!!!
They all have fawns. If you stayed in a tree until a doe without a fawn came by... You'd be a skeleton... Having said that, I am in the SE and I wait a week or so after the season opens to try and let the fawns lose their spots.. It's a mental thing lol
Yeah, that's what I meant to say. If it was in late Oct or into November I wouldn't even care. As long as they dont have spots of course. Yeah I think its just the inner conseversation in us all!! Thanks for watching!
