Hi Bud, could you confirm that the illuminance sensor is working independently from motion? So it would update the lux value in a time interval without having to detect any motion. And also, could the SmartThings hub show this as two devices (illuminance and motion) or keep it under one device?
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 5 дней назад
In the ST app, with the custom edge driver, using the Aqara p1 sensor, you have the option to construct routines that are triggered by Motion or Illuminance. Illuminance can me set to (Match, Equal or above, Equal or below, or a Range) of "lux". However, my understanding is that the P1 sensor will not send updates until motion is detected. The stated purpose of this setup is to reduce battery drain. The sensor values for (illuminance and motion) are combined in a single device.

Nice job! Exactly what I have on my schedule to do. Love the wooden toilet seats; soft close - have never had the issue you had with this one up until this past month for some reason (Bemis brand)--do we know what the underlying reason is for the wear marks on the seat?? Chemicals? Ours wasn't very old. It would be nice to prevent this vs. all the work to repaint. I appreciate all the steps and comments you included.
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 6 дней назад
I'm not fully sure what the underlying reason for the wear. It is likely a combination of cleaning chemicals, durability of the original finish, and normal wear and tear. Mine has held up well since I refinished the seat, so I tend to believe that original paint was not applied in multiple coats to limit wear. I recommend a minimum of three coats with ample dry time between coats to ensure a lasting finish.

nice video. Can you do the same but before ARM the house, to pre-check the sensors? for example IF the door/window sensor is open to notify you about this and when you close the door/window the system armed. How is it possible this?
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 16 дней назад
The short answer is "Yes". It may benefit you you watch my video on the Heimdall app. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ls18zMhapAw.html In that video I briefly go over the settings in Heimdall. One of the settings within the configuration of the Heimdall app is to perform a "Pre-Arming Check". After turning on this option you must then create a flow to perform the pre-arming check and to send a notification to users. In the flow you will use a "Heimdall" Card - "Sensor is Active at Arming" for your "WHEN" statement. This card is triggered when there is a sensor in active state when the Surveillance Mode is set to Armed or Partially Armed. A "Warning" tag will be generated by the active (open) sensor. you must the n ADD a "Push Notification" Card to the flow that will send the Warning to the selected user. The warning will notify the recipient that a sensor is active/"open". Hope this helps?

I have a v2 hub that is starting to lose device connections, so I considered migrating to the Aeotec (v3) hub - but then I saw your video. :) So I bought a few new/open box v2 hubs on eBay. However, the new v2 hubs are ALSO giving the same "not enough memory" message when using the replace hub feature. Both old and new v2 hubs should be the same spec, so not sure why this is happening. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 22 дня назад
I'm not sure Chris. I was trying to transfer to a new Aeotec hub as well, however I had ninety plus devices and many drivers and routines. I was advised to eliminate non-essential device drivers. Despite doing this, I still was unable to perform the Hub Replace. Since then I have divided the devices between the V2 ST and the Aeotec hub. I am hoping the Hub Replace process will work if needed due to the reduction of devices on either hub. Try to reduce unnecessary drivers and any obsolete routines. Then reboot your hub and attempt to perform the hub replace again. You will likely be able to delete bose, Harmon Luxury, JBL, Philips Hue, SamsungAudio, Sonos, Wemo as these are installed by default. NOTE: the ST app will not let you delete a driver that is in use. So don't worry that you may delete a driver that you need.
@chriskd1

@@BudsSmartHome Update: In trying to migrate from an old V2 to hub to a replacement V2 hub (with presumably the same specs), I was still getting the memory error. However, I noticed that the replacement V2 hub was not showing any firmware version. So I called support and they walked me through factory resetting the replacement V2 hub and then adding it to a second location. From there, the replacement V2 hub updated its firmware to match my old V2 hub. I then moved the replacement V2 hub back to the same location as my original V2 hub and initiated replace hub from the original v2 hub but still got the error. Support then advised me to initiate the replace hub from the REPLACEMENT V2 hub - when I did, it downloaded another update to the replacement hub, and now the replace hub feature is no longer giving me the "not enough memory" error. I haven't pulled the trigger on the migration yet as I want to leave the replacement V2 hub running for a few days to ensure it's stable.

For an example, the Aqara app lends support to the Xiaomi Honeywell Smoke Detector. You can view a full list of brand supported apps here: homey.app/en-us/apps/browse/#filter?query=smoke%20detector There is no current app for Inovelli, however an Inovelli app is currently "in development" for integration into Homey Pro. What is your take on the buyout of Homeypro by LG ?
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 28 дней назад
Good question Phil. I think it’s really too early to know the outcome of the acquisition. According to what I have read, LG acquired Athom as a strategic move to expand its smart home ecosystem and provide more seamless integration with its products, like LG appliances and TVs. They plan to integrate their LG ThinQ platform’s smart home technology with Athom ecosystem to “expand (their) open ecosystem and external integration services, aiming to provide customers with more diverse and multidimensional space experiences.” It may mean a boost in resources, marketing, and development for Homey Pro, leading to more features, better compatibility, and a broader reach. However, it could also raise concerns about whether Homey Pro's platform might shift to favor LG’s ecosystem, potentially limiting its openness to third-party devices or hubs.

I was thrilled to pay the garage repair guy $275 to fix my door. Some home projects I don't want to take on. And he did this roller replacement in addition to the repair. I had no idea the doors could be quieter. I am very pleased.

Hi Bud, pickup 2 of these ThirdRealty water sensors and, as you indicated, paired perfectly with SmartThings. I could not get Alexa to discover either device?, it shows other ThirdRealty sensors but not the water leak sensors. Do you think it is no longer supported by Alexa? Thanks.
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 2 месяца назад
Interesting. I just checked and my WL sensors are absent from Alexa as well. I guess I was never concerned because I see no reason to use them in Alexa. I have a WL virtual switch turn on in ST if a sensor is wet and I use the status of that virtual switch within Alexa to announce the water leak. I have the virtual switch turn off after a short delay and if the WL sensor still detects water the echo announcement will repeat.

You need to show how Apps recognize the device WITHOUT a HUB

These devices require a zigbee radio, which is found in various compatible smart hubs such as Third Reality, SmartThings, Aeotec, Hubitat and certain Amazon Echo's, to name a few.

I don’t remember if I mentioned it in the video, but I use Jetstar tomatoes. They make the best sauce. They’re also good for slicing and eating fresh.

I live in PA when do you think would be the best time to apply the milky Spore?
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 2 месяца назад
The grubs feed from the beginning of August until late October. By the end of October, they are fully grown. So now would be a great time to apply milky spore powder. You can also apply early spring when the soil temperature reaches about 50°. That’s when they become active and start eating in the spring.

@@BudsSmartHome Thank you. You think I can use a 1/16 with 9 wholes or is that to small. Also I will apply now and then again in spring around April? I also purchased a 1 1/2 test cap I thought that was in your instructions no I see i has 2'
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 2 месяца назад
@@michelechobey7572- You can try the smaller holes. It's good to be frugal with the application due to the cost. You can always add more holes but its impossible to remove holes! LOL! One application should be sufficient for up to 10 years, assuming you are using Milky Spore Powder and not the granules. Yes, The test blank wherein you drill the holes goes into the lower section which is indeed the two inch PVC pipe. I wish you the same success that I have experienced.

@@BudsSmartHome The weather here in PA is hot and no rain so do you think I can wait until Mid August? Its really hard for me to determine when to apply and I don't want to waste the application because its not cheap🙂

The Japanese beetle larva have returned to the ground in June and July. The larva will migrate in the soil as grubs to their maximum depth as it begins to get colder, by the end of October. So as I said anytime between August and October would be best. The key is to wait for a day when it’s not windy and there is considerable rain in the forecast. If you put it down right before a long soaking rain, you’ll be sure that it will be watered well into the soil. Mid August right before forecasted rain would be good.

Watch all the videos of why to not use Fram filters, they always have rust in them straight off the shelf
@BudsSmartHome
@BudsSmartHome 2 месяца назад
Thanks for commenting. I have used Fram oil filters on all of my Hondas for over 30 years and NEVER had any issues. In fact, my 2006 Honda was at 200,000 miles when I sold it and it ran like a top and didn’t burn any oil. I'm not sure why anyone would suggest they're not any good.
@meaculpamishegas1121
@meaculpamishegas1121 2 месяца назад
@@BudsSmartHome Purolator has better oil filters for cheaper though, I prefer the Bosch’s which are marginally more expensive, but worth the cost difference since the manufacturer and model of filter is typically more important than the brand and type of oil, given the correct specs for the right application. But really, watch the videos, they are very surprising considering Fram sells the most filters
