These are two different brands and they both have their pro's and con's. I can't really speak on the performance of 3M beacuse I am not a 3M dealer but I have installed their products before. I can share my personal opinion to answer your question. I would say that my experience installing/removing Vortex has been better than 3M. I personally do not like the over color of 3M because it seems to have too much green vs. Vortex has a more smoked black look to it.
Save yourself the hassle and just cut the tint in half. Work the smaller piece under the spoiler. My tint is still holding after 2 years. No peels or bubbles.
I typically use both methods for the best results. First I use my blade to remove excess film then I use the file to get a smooth rounded edge so it doesn't peel back.
