Nice video 👍 I had the same experience with my Model Y LFP RWD in the snow. With winter tires I had no issues. Barely used my Model 3 LR AWD in the snow this winter due to the lack of ground clearance.
@@teslasincanada I wish it could be turned off. Me doing the braking is so much smoother. Keep up the good work on your channel. Great info for Canadians
You can change the settings so it behaves like a normal car. But honestly you will get used to the regen braking after driving with it for a couple days. The first time I drive a Tesla I hated it too
@@adean1742 it does all depend on your location and driving record as well. Plus they have quite a big variety between insurance providers I have noticed.
It is true that the RWD tesla does just have 7 speakers activated vs the 13 and Subwoofer that are in the dual motor. When I purchased mine(one of the first RWD’s in Canada) it came with the full speaker system that is on the dual motor. There is the possibility to get something after market to activate the other speakers and add a subwoofer as well. I did that in my model 3 rwd. Video is here on the channel.
I’ve been driving for over 50 years. I’m just your average music consumer driving a Tesla Model 3 RWD 2024 and the sound system is the best I’ve ever heard in a car.
Great question! It would keep the battery warm but likely not give you much charge overnight. Definitely ideal to get a nema50 charger or tesla wall charger if kept outside or charge offsite and keep the level 1 plug just for keeping the battery warm/conserving battery. However I leave mine outside and not plugged in and it does not draw much battery even over a couple days.
first winter. Should have got the winter tires in April when GOEV had them for 1899, now 2499. :) Just was not sure if there was much of a difference between the "highland" and previous version. The only diff is the offset, 2mm. 38 vs 40. But have been told will not make a diff. What do you think about getting 19" instead of 18 for the M3 for winter? I was thinking will give it additional distance from ground. But was just wondering if anyone uses 19" for winter and what they thought.
@@ih2898 It doesn’t work that way as the diameter of your wheel needs to is to stay the same, so if you get 19”, the sidewall will be less. Also, winter tires get better traction when they have more sidewall so keeping it at 18” is good or going to 17” is not necessary but better. I usually do 20” for my summer tires (and the tires end up being low profile-great for summer), and 18” for my winter tires.
@@ih2898 the other comment made by Bentley is correct. Overall diameter of the rim plus tire will likely be the same so won’t make much if any difference. You can actually buy spacers/leveling kits to increase the ride height slightly but I never really found a situation where I would have needed that. Just having the awareness that it is low and keeping an eye out while driving in higher snow conditions is all you need to do with the Model 3.
This will be my 6th years of winter driving in Canada with 2018 M3, RWD, LR & no problem whasoever with Michelin ICE winter tires. Got stuck 1 time in all those years because the car was jacked up on a snow bank. Yes the range is less in the winter, however very manageable for long trip & no problem for daily driving, especially when I leave in the morning in a warm car & snow melting away. I don't even have a garage. Parked outside in the snow.
I am interested as well. My guess is between 38-36k would be list price. I did not bother with Kijiji or FB Marketplace. I did check listings and sold listings etc to get an idea on the value and Clutch basically matched what I could get on resale without any hassle.
That is a very solid reason to have a white interior. Have spent some time in Florida for a few weeks this year and it does get pretty hot in the car quick!

Excellent breakdown of options! I took delivery of my new Model Y Dual Motor Long Range All-Wheel Drive From Tesla in Halifax NS on August 30. My options/choices were: Red paint (my wife's request), 19’’ Gemini Dark Wheels, Tow Package, All Black Interior, Mobile Charger. I do not plan to buy FSD after the trial period ends. I am managing OK using 120v charging until my 240v circuit is installed in my garage in 3 day's time. I plan to buy Uberturbine Wheel Covers and Tesla Wheel Rim Protectors (red). I eagerly await your recommendations for accessories.
Tesloid and Yeslak both make some awesome Rim Covers that are worth checking out. Discount codes in the description above. I am working on putting together some videos of my top recommendations for accessories :) congratulations on the new Model Y!
@@teslasincanada Thanks! [Edit: BTW, my son's referral code worked for us both. - he bought his then-new Model 3 from Tesla Halifax. Also, my NB $5000 rebate came through about a week after I registered the car in NB.]
It actually does suck to have to wait that long for that much money. I promise we're working super hard to bring instant payments to everyone and not just our weekday drop-off appointments! Can't wait for Part 2 to find out if you got paid 😉
I'm considering purchasing a Tesla Model Y and currently reside in the GTA. Would you recommend the RWD or Long Range AWD option? I understand that we frequently make stops for various reasons like restroom breaks with kids. Additionally, for the GTA specifically, I'm curious if insurance rates for a Tesla are equally expensive or potentially reduced due to the vehicle's high safety standards, making it less susceptible to theft ?
I have had a RWD Tesla now over two winters and have done very well with them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XIFmMwalnbg.html As for insurance my insurance for both Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y come in at a total of $369 Per month.
@@teslasincanadaappreciate the clarity. I just got off a call from my insurance and they gave me a quote of 373 for model y rwd vs 500 for AWD long range 😂 So financially I think RWD it is and with 1.99 interest it’s a good deal
Great Channel and content.. We are thinking of buying a model Y sometime next year.. Question - is RWD good in terms of driving/handling in snow during winters in Ontario? or would you recommend an AWD?
I have had a RWD for two winters here in Ontario. I don't feel it is worth the additional money just for the snow factor. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XIFmMwalnbg.html
I believe I used your code to get my order. I custom ordered mine with white paint and white seats. but I was told its gonna take 1-2 months for the orders to come in. even though on the website it was saying est. Sept delivery. so I jumped on the only Model Y LR they had in inventory stealth grey with white seats. grey was the last on my list of colors but I love it so much now with the white interior complimenting it super nice. and everyone who seen the car really loves the stealth grey. :)
You can make it do that for sure but in normal driving your all good. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PjfVO4wvB_U.htmlsi=EO6QrF0WOOA53zHf
@@labgeeathlete as long as you don’t punch the accelerator when your on a turn you will be good. When the snow flies again I will make more videos on how it handles
@@teslasincanada so you think rwd with winters is safe in Canadian winter? I’m trying to buy before year end so need to decide asap. If I can save 10k instead of AWD that would be ideal
Unlucky timing with everything on buying the Y etc but cool to see you make the most of the situation! Now you can fully focus on the Y! I can't help but think there's a missed opportunity to have me fly out, pay you 30k in hundos and document my drive back to Sask 😂 but glad you got decent value at Clutch!
