GoPro Hero 10 helmet camera and GoPro Hero 7 bar camera. Insta 360 one X 2 for position’s around the bike. Canon D5 Mk2 and Canon 70D for still images. Mavic Pro drone with Hasselblad camera for ariel work.
Shark Spartan Carbon touring helmet (best comfort ever)! Also HJC RPHA11 (just for the look of the thing) Arma Nubakku leather jacket which always gets admiring comments. Frank Thomas (summer) leather jacket (fully protected) Richa waterproof goretex suit (all day comfortable and never let me down, even in Scottish monsoons. See Thurso to Perth on a Tiger Sport video for proof of that statement). TCX waterproof goretex boots. (I mean, really waterproof). Alpine Stars J-6 waterproof summer boots. (Another really comfortable item).
Great tribute Jack, look forward to seeing it in place. Grew up hearing lots of stories of the local airfields and met a fair few veteran airman over the years, brave lads…proud to be a yellow belly😉
A great second instalment on this wonderful project Jack. It will look fabulous when done, and what a tribute to all those brave lads. God bless you Jack. Thank you👍👍
@@davewash50 Thanks Dave. It’s all about getting the word out. So many people still know nothing about this project. All the money has been raised by bombercountygatewaytrust. Nothing from lottery or government funding.
I'm also a lone rider and just back from a six day tour of Ireland. I live in the Highlands and happy to tour about by myself. Reset is a spot on description. Ride safe 😊
Thanks for the update Jack. I did make a donation after your first video. I spent my childhood within a stones throw of Norton Disney (Carlton le Moorland to be precise) so this resonates with me very much. I still travel past the memorial site a couple of times a year so really looking forward to seeing the memorial’s completion. Excellent vid 👍
Wow first I've heard of it 👍👍👍 just been informing my brother who lives just north of Lincoln....well done sir...big fan of ww2 planes etc we actually where visiting Lincoln when a Lancaster flew over city wowwwww... amazing atb from Cumbria ...👋
Get out my back yard, how many times must I tell you🤣👍. Great video Jack, glad you enjoyed our lovely Border country, shame the sun was absent early on but it’s still good with your thermals on. PS. Glad you enjoyed the Darveen Pass and the B740, great road. By the way the yellow car was an Escort RS2000, bit of a classic.
Shhhh, this is meant to be our secret 😂. If you're following the border next week you'll probably go straight through our village too. There's some amazing roads round here, you can be out all day and hardly see any traffic, everyone goes straight up the M74 to the Highlands and misses out on some fantastic scenery and roads. The devil's porridge is worth a visit as it shows loads of local history which is fascinating. Our neighbour who's just turned 100 years old used to work at the cordite factory and is full of stories about it, she can't remember what happened yesterday but get her onto 80yrs ago and she's as sharp as anything.
@@LizAndRichGo which village do you live in? I’ll keep an eye out for it when I’m editing the next video. You’re lucky that people drive straight past, you don’t want the place cluttered up with tourists after all 😂 I came up to the area about 18 months ago and fell in love with the whole Border region. I can’t get enough of it now ❤️
@@TheJeff4X4 It really is one of the most fun roads I’ve ridden in a while. Fast, twisty, ups and downs, it was really special. Just wish it was a bit longer 🏍️😂👍
@@lambo2817 Thanks bud. The Mondial 2 is great, totally waterproof. The materials feel a little cheap compared to other brands but I’m totally happy with it 👍
The off roading point(s) are moot in my opinion. I would bet that fewer than 1% of UK GS owners take the bike off road. Main reason being they are too bloody heavy for the untrained (and the trained actually). Off-roading folk use 200kg bikes at the max. The main point of the GS is that taller folks like me at 6’4 and above are more comfortable. And that for the one week a year that our partners want to join, we can carry their shoe and frock collection more comfortably. Saying all the above, I am the proud owner of a reasonably new RS1250 like this but with handlebar risers and taller screen. Loving it. It is dynamically a better bike than the GS and notably lighter too.
Since I started riding in 1981 it has always been about self reliance, independance and freedom. Not trendy traits but for me they are fundamental to why I ride, repair, modify and build bikes.
A fabulous video Jack. I think you’ve really hit on something here. Was recently staying in the Melrose area, and this region does something to you. Very calming, and epic roads and scenery, and the locals make you feel very welcome. Roll on episode 2! Thank you👍
The video was that good I watched it twice, the point is, I missed you saying the 1st time round that you wished you had shit loads of money so you could ride forever, exactly what I always think when I'm out on my bike. Again, thanks for sharing and see you on your next adventure 🤙 🤟
Hmmmm now this could be a 2025 escape. It’s on my places to explore!! Looks amazing. I popped up to and around Moffat for the day when I was in North Yorkshire last September which was epic. Looking forward to the next one
Welcome to all these local roads to me. Cumbria.....bit of useless info for you Clattering shaws dam was featured many years ago for a advert featuring a land rover driving up dam head... anywaz happy mo'cycling...atb
@@chrispitman1169 Thanks Chris. I was just picking points on Google maps in this video. The Scenic app is what I usually plan all my dedicated routes on as you will see in the next video 👍
@@WxM3008WxM I think the official name for it is burnt orange. It’s my favourite colour too. Pity it’s matt though, I much prefer a gloss shine ✨ 👀🏍️❤️👍
@@Andyc1300 Thanks Andy. Just exploring something a bit different from the usual motovlog. Everyone is doing those now so I’m trying to be different from everyone else 👍
I had the first 2004 bike, did 32K on it. My complaints were, the forward pegs kept on grounding out hard and 1.5G up the bum is not comfortable. While you are hanging on for dear life. For me the R looks more attractive.
I don't get it how people say a 100+ hp bike has 'no punch', 'lacking grunt and power'. I'm sorry, what?! My former SV650 at ~75hp was more than enough for street riding. It can keep up with a BMW M3! I'm about to get an F900R and I don't think I'll get to explore its full capability unless I take it to a track. Look at the RPM in the video, the bike is barely used at 20% of its capability.
Know it well Jack, love the story of Bayards Leap. I went to primary school in Eagle near Lincoln, there are links including tombs of Knights Templar’s in the church next door.
@@IanTed Are they at Eagle? That would be worth a visit. We (Mrs Mogul and I) are up at Northumberland this week at River Breamish. I’m coming up again starting Saturday 14th but over near Dumfries to start with. I’ll get to Hexham on Monday 16th, heading home on the 18th. If you want to meet up for coffee that would be great 👍
I’ve owned bikes in similar power territory (4C8 R1) but the performance from this 1160cc triple somehow feels absurd tbh. EDIT: forgot to say the video is great, thank you
I got my 24 GSA Triple Black delivered last month. Here in Melborune,AU it comes with 5 Years Unlimited Warranty, 3 Years RSA and I added a 5 years Service inclusive as well. This is the best time to negotiate ..!! No words to comment, such a fantastic machine...!
Nice to see you up and about again Jack not been around much on the social side lately just chomping at the bit at the moment 4days from now myself and the wife Sue will be boarding Eurotunnel for our big 3 week tour again 7days in the Alps and gorges 7 days off in the bay of Roses for some much needed R&R then 7 days through the Pyrenees along the amazing N260 then up the west coast of France. Glad to see you doing your stuff again keep it up Jack.👍😊
Thanks Graham. I’ve not been very social lately either, I struggle with excessive tiredness since my surgery so don’t always feel up to being with people much. That sounds like an amazing trip you’ve got planned. I’m hoping to get down to the Pyrenees myself next year, fingers crossed. Have a great time and ride safe 👍🏍️👍
I regularly ride that way myself on my Transalp and my Himalayan. I live in a village not far from the roman road. Great video. If you had ridden just a bit further North to the St John The Baptist Church, there is another UCR you can ride down that is very nice and quiet. These are my local green lane getaways.
Ah yes, I just had a look on the map. Does the green lane go up the right side of the church? Will have to pay that a visit. Also not forgotten the Finch-Hatton, Out of Africa connection. I’m going to start getting the video clips done soon 👍
@@motomogul Yes mate. But I normally do it the other way around. Follow that UCR until you come to a dirt road, turn right and then left and go again. You eventually come out on a tarmac'd road. Nice little track.
@@motomogul Still brilliant. The old Romans never made it here. Probably too much forrest for their battle style? It's now on my list of places to vist.
@MotoTourIreland I think they learned from the hit and run attacks from the early Britons. They weren’t the stand and fight, regimented fighters that came later but clans of warrior type fighters conducting fast raids and then melting away again. Pretty sure they had enough on their hands keeping a lid on the wide ranging Celtic warriors here to begin with. This was a time before the Celts had been pushed back to Wales and Scotland.
