The Aba Daba Honeymoon Words and Music by Arthur Fields & Walter Donovan Published 1914 by Leo. Feist, Inc. [Verse 1] 'Way down in the Congo Land Lived a happy chimpanzee, She loved a monkey with a long tail, (Lordy, how she loved him!) Each night he would find her there, Swinging in the coconut tree, And the monkey gay, at the break of day, Loved to hear his Chimpie say: [Chorus] "Aba, daba, daba, daba, daba, daba, dab" Said the Chimpie to the Monk, "Baba, daba, daba, daba, daba, daba, dab," Said the Monkey to the Chimp. All night long they'd chatter away, All day long they were happy and gay, Swinging and singing in their hunky monkey way. "Aba, daba, daba, daba, daba, daba, dab," means "Monk I love but you," "Baba, daba, dab," in monkey talk means "Chimp I love you too," Then the big baboon, one night in June, He married them, and very soon, They went upon their aba, daba honeymoon. moon. [Verse 2] Well, you should have heard that band Play upon their wedding day, Each Chimp and Monkey had nutshells, Lordy, how they played them; And now it is ev'ry night, High up in the coconut tree, It's the same old thing, with the same old swing, When the Monk and Chimpie sing: [2nd Chorus] "Aba, daba, daba, daba, daba, daba, dab" Said the Chimpie to the Monk, "Baba, daba, daba, daba, daba, daba, dab," Said the Monkey to the Chimp. All night long they'd chatter away, All day long they were happy and gay, Swinging and singing in their hunky monkey way. "Aba, daba, daba, daba, daba, daba, dab," means "Monk I love but you," "Baba, daba, dab," in monkey talk means "Chimp I love you too," And now they cry, "This is the life," Since they came from their aba, daba honeymoon.
This is my favorite version of this song, a lesson would be awesome Edit: Just found a lesson by David Bromberg which this cover is based on, lol. If anyone wants the lesson, look up "David Bromberg teaches "Cocaine Blues"" on RU-vid.
Just amazed that he can produce all that great sound with just one finger and a thumb. Great to see the young lad playing good music from the days of great music.
and this is the reason I asked you to rebuild my soundbox, you understand how music should sound. Lovely stuff! I seem to have found a rather odd record by Harold F which is what brought me here.
Yeah side B only started appearing leally since 1908 (Pathé was doing it since ca. 1900 but they did not patent it and when it was patented they just infringed it)
You get an amazing tone from that guitar! Stellas I'm familiar with. They're usually not reknown for their superior sonic qualities. Oscar Schmidt Stella: what's that and who's that.
My wife and I were bouncing around youtube and heard your "I Wish" video. Wasn't sure if those were your lyrics or someone elses. Used the song in a short video and came up with a new song in the video description. Also, I think it might be time to pick up that guitar again. Enjoy your evening. scottbailey(fingin)
This is a great version, could you do a lesson please? There is nothing online only the Rev Gary Junior and Keith Richards version. I love this version!
My first guitar was a Stella . My step dad saw it in a dumpster and he brought it home to me -that was 65 years ago . I’ve had a hundred guitars since then but my heart will always belong to Stella- She steered me right and I’m still playing today at 77- I think I would trade all my guitars for 1 last night with that little red Stella …….😢
