Unfortunately CPM as a system has no good ways to recover a schedule. It will insist you rush, push, panic, and increase WIP. It will encourage more people, more overtime, more materials, and more money. All of those will hurt your productivity.
@@jasonwilliamschroeder OMG THE MAN HIMSELF!!! Jason you're helping me get through this fresh out of college job hunt! I'm going to CRUSH the next interview i go to thanks to you man. I'm using ALL the buzzwords im learning here! Thanks for the free videos man, i know you put in a ton of effort! you're a godsend!
Also really glad i read The Lean Startup over the weekend. You really do incorporate a ton of lean practices, especially that Build-Measure-Learn Feedback Loop, it just makes too much sense!
Hey there! I am a project engineer 1 but transitioning to assistant super kinda nervous of the change but I feel like the office side is not for me any advice? I will be starting my first project as an assistant super in a month!
I am from Pakistan and actually i am hire new logistics specialist in construction firm and this will reduce my stress only one day ago i was joined my job.
Very much appreciate this - Working to roll out Lean construction training and this v obviously needs to happen 1st. Before we can even chat about LPS or PDCA, any of the acronyms, we need to encourage our Supers and PMs to drop our egos and get curious. Thank you.
Hi Jason, I hope you're doing well! I wanted to check if you’re looking for a video editor and thumbnail designer for your RU-vid channel. I'd love to help enhance your content and visuals. Let me know if you're interested! Best regards,
Project engineer or field engineer are entry level jobs that you can get coming out of college to become a project manager or superintendent for construction
Jason! Best on RU-vid. Do you have any advice on estimating project and WINNING different types of contracts? Heard of RSMeans but how do you start building your estimating library.
Men are the highest risk group for suicide these days anyway, and most construction professionals are men. So i think this statistic, while illuminating for mental health issues for men, just reflects how safe our continued efforts in the pursuit of construction safety have been.
Jason, I’ve been watching your channel for a few months now - I love your videos and can’t begin to say how helpful they’ve been for me as an aspiring super and current FE. I sometimes wonder how you keep the drive to keep making these videos when your view count is still low(no insult, I obviously think you deserve a million subscribers). Idk how you do it but it makes it even more impressive and selfless to me. Thank you for pushing the envelope Jason :)
We have in contract that if trades do not clean up, we will at a back charge to them. It never comes to that but a dirty site is not acceptable, ever. We have quarterly safety standards-downs where we provide lunch and show appreciation for the trade partners. We consistently let them know that we see their hard work and appreciate their efforts and we also that their families because without their families, we wouldn’t have them. Their spouses and children give up their time to us and it shouldn’t go unnoticed.
Hey Jason, I became a superintendent for the first time about a year ago, a few months after, I found your channel and I absolutely love you man, you're giving us such great informational videos for superintendents and I can't get enough of them. But I ask 1 favor, I never worked as a field engineer or anything before so I don't have too much experience but I really want to learn and be as good as I possibly can be.....in your opinion, what are some superintendent "basics" that I can start studying and learning so that I'm better prepared as a well rounded super. I apologize for the long comment lol
@jasonwilliamschroeder I actually have the link saved lol, I first saw it in one of your previous videos.....I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that pretty much everything I'd need to know would be in that book? Lol
Hello Im 19 and im starting my career as an office/field engineer for PAC Leaders and Im going to night school for construction management. If you were in my shoes what would you do, J-Money.
Thank you, Jason. Thank you so much Jason. Please keep going on with these videos. It’s been helping me a lot. I don’t have time to finish college for my construction management degree and this is been everything for me. Thank you.
I Hired my good friend for a PM roll , it was a hard decision because we are friends but i needed someone i trust. he has some construction experience but alot og managerial experience and thats what i needed while also speaking english and spanish.but most of al i trust him
I can relate to a lot of what you're saying. I can tell you only grew up on the big commercial though. I have been both. You are correct as far as big commercial goes. There are still good residential guys That I feel are better then you , and hit all of your negative quality. I am not a Yeller nor a screamer. Anyone in the residential world is. It is because time is money and everything is about speed. Those guys are still Good superintendence , whether they meet your lister or not. As for me I think what you're saying is great for the commercial world. I have been on the other side. Plus you're probably a project manager. I would bet money you don't know shit about what goes on in the field..
This is great content man OMG I’m in Massachusetts and I’m a 21 Year old licensed GC here and I opened my business last year. I haven’t finished college yet. This channel is MY COLLEGE DEGREE
Me and my PM run 2 sewer rehabilitation project (10million and 35 million) and it’s going well because we are organized and do everything in this video
