F5 stands for these 5 F words: Faith, Family, Fins, Feathers and Fur. Videos of duck hunts in the winter and bass fishin the rest of the year! And using the platform to glorify God! I hope y'all enjoy my videos! Thanks for watching and God bless y'all!
So you’re paying 245$ for acrylic hybrid? Is the 150$ call sound ok? I think your calling sounds like a dang duck. Duck in the woods does not do that much but your call sounds good.
No sir they both retail $150 for acrylic IF you can find one right now. Thank you for the positive feedback on the calling! I hope the video was helpful!
Nice video man. I’m from Olive Branch. I heard about them opening Elvis Presley lake back up. How’s the bream fishing out there? Best of luck on the water, stay safe 🫡
Thanks bud!! Man from what we’ve seen, the bream aren’t quite big enough to keep. On opening day my buddy actually bream fished a good bit and most were either too small to get on the hook or not big enough to eat.
Thanks bud!!! Please comment on my latest Instagram post so that I can keep up with the entries for the giveaway in one location. Thanks for the follow!! Subscribed to your RU-vid and followed you on Instagram as well!
It’s great to find a good Christian man to follow. My other buddy I follow is Andrew Nordby on “Fishing with Nordby” he also is a good Christian man. Check out his channel. What Bass Trail do you fish in? I’m looking for a club. I live in Crossville TN.
Thanks bud that means a lot!! Yes sir, I enjoy watching Nordby too!! I fish the Henderson County King of Lakes Trail. We fish several lakes in the Lexington, TN area and last year we had some tournaments on the TN river as well.
@@f5outdoors956 I’m about half way between Nashville and Knoxville right on I40. Lexington would be a bit far but heck what else have I got to do. lol 😂
@@f5outdoors956 Kevin if you ever fish Watts Bar let me know. I’d love to meet you in person and maybe throw a cricket with you. I know a great number of spots on this lake.
Bro, excellent video. I just ordered a Mag Hen because Hybrids were sold out EVERYWHERE. This gives me tremendous confidence in the Mag Hen and I haven’t even gotten it yet! 😁
Thanks also for the video. It helped a ton. Is that a precut reed you are using and also what brand and from where? I have used RNT reeds in the past but thinking of trying a Kirk McCullough reed in the mondo 2b. Any thoughts are welcome.
Glad I could help bud!! That was the stock reed that came with the call from RNT. They typically come with a couple of extras so you can have some room to play with a couple of different reeds.
If I had to pick between the 2, I'd lean more towards the lares only because it has a little more range of both tone and volume. The archangel is a little easier to blow and sounds awesome to me as well though. They're both awesome calls!
I started making my own reeds. I bought some 10mm Mylar reed material on eBay, Bought a paper cutter and good digital caliper . I did not like the oem size reed with the hybrid. Works just fine
@@toddnmichelle I think I went to a little longer with the hybrid. So I could get some rasp when I growl. Jj calls don’t like my growl but I adjusted. I think I did 1.37
@@ReefMimic okay thanks. I just got my first hybrid and I can’t make it sound good at all. I primarily use a Hobo ICU2 and a Hobo Prime Meat. It seems like it wants way more air than my lungs have. I ordered a couple shorter reeds to see if that helps
Beautiful work. I'd recommend moving that tool rest to within 1/4" of your work piece. It'll cut way down on the tool bouncing and give you more control. Also, watching you working on the lathe without any eye protection really make me cringe. If you are not blind already, please consider some safety glasses or better yet, a face shield.
You sound good.I think the judges might like it ,but the ducks not so much. I been chasing ducks for 60 years and I have major success simply by sounding like a live Mallard Hen.
Thank you so much for this video. I ordered my first single reed cutdown a couple weeks ago, and to say that I was shocked when I first blew it would be an understatement. About to go tune and see what happens! Fully confident after watching this!
You're welcome!! I'm glad I could help! Yeah, the cut downs are totally different from j frame calls and I was a little shocked the first time I tried a cut down as well! I didn't care for them at first honestly. I hope trimming your reed helps you out bud!
I love the hybrids and mag hens! I'm a fan of the t1 too!! Yes sir, he will definitely go down in history as one of, if not the best call maker to ever live!
I fish that river occasionally, I’ve seen on the news that people have seen alligators in there from time to time around Fayette County. Curious if y’all have encountered any?
I've heard the same thing, but I haven't seen any and neither has anyone else that I know personally. We all fish and hunt the bottoms around there a good bit.
Thank you! It is a great call. Truth be told, I traded that call before I did the video on my 21/22 lanyard I think. I have another Archangel in a different color now though. When I traded the one in this video, I knew I made a mistake lol.
@@f5outdoors956 hey don’t feel bad because I’ve had same type regrets letting good women and guitars go Only to kick myself knowing I made a mistake then wishing I had them back haha.
@Plaidcladcanuck lol!!! I know what you mean! I was blessed enough to keep the right woman. But definitely gotten rid of some awesome duck calls and guitars!
@@f5outdoors956 so if you were experienced on a J frame and could only have one cut down to get you going as the position I’m in, what call might that be. I have to get one, even tho I might not like this style of call but I just know I have to at least try one out
@@f5outdoors956 I bet it does. We’re gunning big water up here and I’ve been getting lazy blowing acrylic double reeds up until I spoke with William at RNT this week and have an Original single Reed on its way up here. I certainly asked him about a mondo because I absolutely love the grit and raspiness off them from listening to videos and he said he has a tough time with them so I hesitated and didn’t order one but sitting here now knowing it cost me $35USD to have that one call mailed up here to Canada, I’m wishing I had ordered a cut down also because even if it turns out I don’t get along with it, I’ll at least then know haha
@Plaidcladcanuck the RNT original is actually a very good open water call and I do recommend it for sure!! The cut down calls can be hit or miss because some of them take a huge amount of air pressure to drive them, no matter how you tune them. The original is easier to run and can be tuned to your liking a little easier. Like we talked about before though, the 2B is a very controllable cut down and has great tone!
Sounds great bud. I’ve been successfully blowing j frames for 40yrs and thought about trying to find the right cut down. What’s your thoughts on this call vs the 2B or one for me to start on
Thanks bud!! Man it's hard to say which one I like better. I'd give the hybrid a slight advantage for me personally though. It has a little better range of tone. But the 2B is very ducky and easy to run for a cut down too. But if you're looking for a true cut down style call, I'd go with the 2B for sure.
