Holy cow your vids have been the most thorough and informative on aftertreatment I have found on RU-vid. Trying to teach myself diesel Aftertreatments as I’m an equipment mechanic and now have to fix a fleet of trucks… bit of a learning curve but I love a challenge

Oil pump belt tensioner comes apart. Oil pump drive belt shreds & stops driving/turning the oil pump. Continued running of engine without oil pressure = engine & turbo damage.
Bit confused here - I know of the well documented issue of the oil pump strainer becoming blocked (due to lack of maintenance/improper oil) but are we saying there is another inherent design flaw in this engine with the oil pump belt tensioner being weak? A comment further down suggests it affects 2018 engines only. Thoughts guys?
Think these are known for belt wear/degredation causing blocked oil pump strainer. Belt wear caused by wrong oil or no oil changes. Have seen people recommending 10,000 mile oil changes to avoid problem.
I have all paperwork that says I do every 8,000 miles. Car currently has 61,000 miles on it and today lose of oil pressure and started knocking before my wife could even get it pulled over and stopped to turn it off. Engine most likely gone. Pretty hard knocking. But nevertheless ford is aware of this problem. We will if they cover my repairs? Highly doubtful.

My car had this exact same issue, Its currently in the shop where they think the motor is locked up, 44k miles, just cruising down the road light comes on says low oil pressure, goes to 5k rpms and loses almost all power, pull over and it won't even start back up. Had to get it towed.
@@95ninjas Replaced Engine + Turbo. According to the dealership it is only an issue with the 2018 1.0L and the new engine I recieved will not have that issue. Seems like it should be a recall.
I also went 6 months without a car and ford offered $35 a day 4 months into its stay at the shop. It was a nightmare situation. Will never buy a new Ford again.
