Nice. 👍🏻 I would go for the Meisterstuck version of the Classique/Midsize Ballpoint pen for starters. Also, I strongly agree with you that the Broad refills are the best that MB has to offer!
Totally agree with this review. I have this watch and 40mm sizing is perfect. I don’t wear the bracelet much, but prefer on a red. Rubber strap to bring contrast to the dial. Tegimented steel is rock solid. Have had it for 5 years and not a scratch on it. It’s more of an all Around tool watch than a diver like the u50 or other. Sometimes I do wish it had some color on the dial but the contrast deep black and AR coating is so good. I bought mine at the Sinn factory and was comparing with the 556, so glad I went with this finish and technology.

Hello mate, thanks very much for the video, I’m thinking of buying this watch myself, could I ask you a question that is impossible to find on the web- what is the dial size? The actual dial from inside edge to inside edge of the bezel? It would be so helpful if you could let me know, if not thanks anyway 👍🏻
Argh don’t have this one any longer to make a measurement! I will tell you that the dial is a nice large size and highly legible. It’s also very proportional in that the watch doesn’t seem like “all dial” when on the wrist. The lovely bezel helps with that. I would say this concern regarding dial diameter shouldn’t sway your decision. At under $1000 you will have a great watch. At under $750 it’s a screaming bargain. Under $500 you’ve committed a crime. Strong buy is my advice.

Have this exact watch with the same strap swap out, ironically. I love this as a daily driver. Most comfortable set up I’ve found for my wrist. Highly recommend.
Absolutely agree! Critical to that and hardly ever mentioned is the fact that it doesn’t rattle at all! No rotor to feel and it’s built dead solid. Very reassuring presence on the wrist. Be on the lookout for some new Tag Heuer acquisitions and reviews in the near future!
Yup it was $350!! I was in shock! I found it on my local classified ads. I changed the battery and lubed the gasket. It is definitely genuine (I thought at that price it was gonna be a fake). The guy just never wore it and wanted to get rid of it.

Wasn't so aware of the Damasko until recently. Really happy with my 556a, but I wonder if the slightly larger damasko dial would suit me more. Love both watches - I don't think it's possible to choose between them, apart from on price and personal taste. Also the Damasko does have the harder steel.

By comparison, SEIKO LX TITANIUM retails at $4000. In all honesty, there aren't too many SEIKOS than can contend with this NB6005 (maybe SEIKO TUNA 600M and SEIKO EMPIRE TUNA 1000M which cost North of $4000) Sorry bro, you need to research more. CITIZEN hit a home run. Am buying 2 of them before the word gets out. $550 used from Japan on Ebay
I love the watch and I am glad to hear that you reconsidered and got something that fits better, I have an 8 inch wrist and muscle so I cannot pull off some smaller watches that I like in the 36mm territory because they look tiny on me, the PAM in 47 is a bit too much for your build but a 44 or a 42 would be perfect, I personally wear a 44 PAM00915.
That watch looks incredible on your wrist. I don’t see the polished one anywhere for sale. Imagine how many more they would sell if they were half the price.
I have the large green one and I bought the original Cartier rubber strap with the screws, I recommend it to you, it looks better than a generic rubber strap because of the design that Cartier puts into it. Mine has a ton of scathes on that bezel, i take care of my watches a lot but it is impossible to keep it scratch free.
Will definitely check out that strap! The only 2 things I can critique this watch on are: scratches on the polished bezel and power reserve. Other than that there isn’t a better watch to buy.
@@soundsoserious yeah, very versatile, I had not finished watching your video but then I realized that you also have a Panerai and a DJ 41, me too!! A luminor PAM00915 and a rose gold and steel motif dial DJ41, those along with my day date 40 white gold olive green dial and a submariner date are my collection so far, I am eyeing an IWC chronograph top gun for my next one and I like the Lake Tahoe white very much.
As for the line never having crown protection, the Aqua Terra 8500 series does have an asymmetric case that allows the crown to recess about halfway into the case when screwed down.
I like the proportions of this better than the 556. What do you think about the 856 vs the Tudor Ranger? With 2nd hand luxury watch prices dropping they're not a million miles away from each other now.
@@soundsoserious oh I've seen it, that's why I asked because I knew you'd had experience with both! The dial pops on the Sinn more and it definitely looks a bit more purpose driven.
Its a beautiful watch and if you like how it wears on you, that is all that truly matters. That being said from the video it appears that the lugs hang over your wrist pretty significantly. I dont like that look personally. Just my opinion
Lugs overhanging the wrist on that Patriot is not a good look. Diameter is mostly irrelevant for proper watch to wrist fit - lug to lug length is more important. MSAR 36 fits you perfectly. That Patriot is just too big. ~ From a watch nerd who also has “highly evolved” (skinny) wrists.
@@soundsoserious sure. The reason I bring this up is I’ve been there done that. At the end of the day, it’s an individual choice. For me, 48mm lug to lug length is my max now. 46-47mm my sweet spot. This particular marathon bugs me because it’s too small for the height and large bezel, and especially the depth of the dial. They should have made this one 38mm. 36 is fine for thinner watches, dress, GMT etc. The depth of a gsar or msar dial doesnt work with a 36mm watch. It just looks weird
This is an unfair criticism of most watches since the orientation of dial and crystal have a lot to do with that when you see pictures or video. But you make a good point. Best is Swiss Quartz for this. My Grand Seikos have been so-so tbh. This Vaer is pretty good.
@@soundsoserious I'm fairly confident in my assessment. I already considered your points the very fist thing before commenting. I replayed it in slomo just in case. A one minute vid proving me wrong would be fantastic to shut me right up. I'll even edit my opinion and give you props for it! BTW, I custom build watches, so anything off or out of alignment more than .25mm is off to me.
Looks perfect. Tried on the medium and it was way too small and looked feminine.I was so disappointed. Santos is a sport watch and meant to be large. The Tank yes I get it, smaller is best because it’s a dress watch. Wrist shots look ginormous compared to real life.
Fair point. Prices for these are coming down in the secondary market but they are still $2k+ usually. I need to get a Bulova and try it out. I did a review of a Certina Precidrive you might be interested in.
I just bought the 2264 quartz version at $2000. Still looking for the automatic. I even have the electric blue dial in quartz but will look for the automatic there also. Never satisfied. Great video. Do you still have the watch?

I bought my Sky Dweller Blue during peak hype, do I regret it? No, I lost around $4k but the time having it and enjoying it, imo was worth it, it would’ve been 2 years of torture waiting and wanting it.
Man, lovely watches both the luminor and the sub but they look pretty big on your wrists and for what I can see they would look even bigger if you wear short sleeves, I have the opposite problem, I like several 36-39mm watches but my 8.5 inch wrists make those sizes look like toys.
