While this is usually a pediatric procedure, I actually had to have surgery at 23 years old to correct PAPVT (3 of my 4 veins weren’t circulating oxygenated blood). I was in the hospital for something totally unrelated when I found out. I never showed any symptoms, but my surgeon told me that my heart would have failed within the next two years if they hadn’t found it. Talk about a blessing in disguise.
