The ASO is New Zealand’s largest community orchestra. Players are drawn from all walks of life and from all parts of Auckland and beyond. We provide an opportunity for musicians who have chosen a career outside performance music to enjoy weekly rehearsals of symphonic music, playing without payment and purely for the pleasure of making great music together. ASO supports local composers and soloists by giving them the opportunity to work and perform with a full symphony orchestra in concert. The orchestra’s main philosophy is that music should be fun and enjoyed by players and audiences alike - hence the regular, free community concerts. With over eighty players, the ASO has developed an excellent following and reputation for its high quality performances of popular classics, film and show music, often playing to capacity and turn-away audiences.

I landed on this channel after watching the Danish National Symphony Orchestra play "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" by Ennio Morricone Never in a million years would I have imagined "Sandstorm" played by an orchestra. I feel like my life is complete now.
Sooo fantastic! The totality of the experience is something that can bring one to tears. Fabulous playing by a lovely orchestra with heart! Thunderous organ work, truly displaying the raw soul of the instrument! Now I have to go and call a contractor about the cracks in the sheetrock and deal with the police pounding on the door...
Bravo! Love this incredible work. I had the privilege of attending a performance by the Santa Barbara Symphony at the Arlington. When those 16 foot pipes made their entrance during the first movement it was jaw-dropping. Would love to feel the thunder of 32 foot pipes! Nothing matches the majesty of a pipe organ!
"...And so it was that in all the celebration, in all the hubbub of noise and excitement, there were two figures who stood silent and still, side by side...And though every single human in the stands or in the commentary boxes was at a complete loss for words, the man who in his life had uttered fewer words than any of them, knew exactly what to say..."
No. Not good. I'm disappointed with this performance. Loose, loss of control, not engaging and more 'performance-for-performance's-sake' than actually being true to the composer's ideal. I suppose, it is just what it is. Best to improve.
