A tent and a shovel (for digging toilets) one week in nature and you me know the merits or people like Mark doing in ten years.. The community part is the pearl.. The most challenging.. Thank u.. Great info and honesty
great, but...what the legal rights you have to occupy this piece of land? you surely cannot just put your caravan anywhere you want. In the UK you cannot even go to the wilderness and put your tent up if it is not a paid camping place. How people would send you any correspondence? post restant costs too. Imagine you have to go back to civilization and then there is no record of any work, what would you put into your CV? You must have more problems of this kind, can you really support this way of living and ssay it brings more benefits than disadvantages like getting cold in the winter, smelly without a bathroom, lack of security etc. Please explain it.
i love the concept, just who's farm are you living on, who's land and i understand how you can barter for your clothes, and other things you may eventually need if you dont make them yourself, but who pays the taxes on the land/farm. this, unfortunately does take money and is how our society is set up. i'd love to learn more and want to be as self sufficient as possible too. thanks
Its funny how very close the financial system was to complete collapse 5 years ago just because one big bank went bust. Our whole system is built on a myth, a lie. The scary thing is that everyone bases their life on this myth, their worth, their shelter, food and water, everything, and most people are completely unaware of how fraudulent and fragile the system is. It almost ended 5 years ago. I give it up to this man for having the courage to swim against the current.
You are such an inspiration, and way ahead of your time. Learning about your story has made me even more conscious and more eager to change. Thank you!

You've inspired me to have a go Mark, and I'm willing to die trying because this society keeps on punishing me for being a hard-working - upstanding citizen and rewarding people for being lazy and nasty to each other. I'm tired of this way of life. It's really getting to me.
The Andromedans have high tech thousands of years ahead of us and no CONCEPT of money. No homelessness for them either. Not to mention they live literally forever (start believing) Make no mistake, when we keep evolving technologically, free energy and free living are a must or we will sink like Atlantis. Money feels like a game you cant keep up with, cant win, and someone is always ready to throw you out if you mess up.
one has to ponder: if "mark boyle" retreated from the adult world of responsibility and contribution for 'a few years,' how, then, is it that he's been found and then made a subject of interest for interviewing. Did someone dialup a media source (or did Mark, himself) to peddle the "romanticism of poverty and irresponsibility" as somekind of appeal to the unprepared and unskilled, uneducated and aimless youth? This smells like propaganda.
The essential difference as I see it is that with barter the agreed value of the exchange(goods or services)is subjective&depends on the individuals' needs&resources,&the interaction between members of a local community. If you've no wood ready for winter then wood represents huge value to you, less if you've prepared your own already. Currency removes that flexibility of value&trade, reducing everything. No worth in quality of life anymore, profits, quotas&units per m2 dictate the terms of our lives.
he'll do what all people will end up doing and thats living off the state. or if his community idea works out they will look after him. I wish all the luck in the world.
When washing cloths and yourself in the stream with "soapy" stuff, you introduce abnormal levels of wetting agents and oils that become breeding grounds for an increase in bacteria and viruses down stream... Living "green" or "off grid" or "self sufficient" is more often than not, just a shift in human impact. Often, when one compares the "greenlyness" of an "offgrid/moneyless" system to normal living, the "impact" per human, on the environment, is often worse.
Sounds to me like "money" is something you wish to get away from, and yet, you sit in front of your split/stacked wood through the interview. No doubt, that wood represents great value to you. If you ever intend trade your wood with an individual, then you will have "succumbed" to the thing you were trying to escape. "Money" represents work or material. When you produce, you create value; Money is the way we exchange work and materials conveniently. Removing "money" only reduces the efficiency.
No, I do understand. If I didn't understand that money was an illusion, I'd have never spoken of the imbalance of wealth that it creates, as I did. I agree there is manipulation, and as long as money is the standard, this will perpetuate slavery of a nation. One day your house is worth 200 k. The next, 150 k. What was that 50 k to begin with? Maybe we're on the same page, here; money is merely a medium. It's sort of the same as saying guns don't kill people; people do. The people are what's bad.
But what you dont understand is, that wouldnt happen in a world where money had true value. The reason all this madness is possible, is because they can manipulate these worthless fiat money.
I have recently made the descision to buy some land and build an off grid cabin. Humans are the only species that pay to live on earth. I have had enough paying. Think what you could do with your life with no electric bills, water bills, gas bills, council tax bills, no rent, no mortgage.
I think money is intrinsically bad. With money we can pay a man millions of dollars per year to play a sport--to play games--while some other poor schmo dies by 50 because he's worked in the mines--real hard work--and inhaled coal dust his whole life meagerly supporting a family. How could there be such control over wealth as this by barter? Money justifies greed and it really is the root of all evil. I'm not a religious man, but even to live like Christ as He taught is non-taxable and illegal.
