Also, British night time bombs had less than 1% of bombs fall within 5 miles of the target. If that’s how we wanna measure the metric, the British method was a total failure lol.
It’s controversial only to the countries who couldn’t pull it off as effectively lol. Germany and Japan both bombed tf out of civilian cities before the tables turned. They only cry it as immoral cause they lost
You know what’s crazy. If some random man did this he would’ve already been in jail/prison or charged. So just cause he’s a celebrity nothing happens? Shows you how the world is now. It’s all corrupt
i am Vietnamese. How dare you called the defense of my nation against the invaders as dirty tricks ? imagine America got invadeed, i bet you guys would use every measure you can get your hands on to do the same thing. so i demand apology.
When it comes to Effectiveness, both are good, but when it comes to Civilian Casualties, i think the Americans have inflicted fewer civilian casualties than the british, since they bomb in Daylight they have higher chance of hitting thier intended target rather than hitting civilians.
In a nutshell: Americans do daytime bombing because they can sustain the losses, the British does it at night because they had to fight over 3 continents (Europe and Africa wince 1939, and Asia in 1941) and there just weren’t enough war materials to pump out that many planes.
Its a Falsehood that was perpetrated by the Army Air Corps that there wasn't an available aircraft that could escort the bombardment groups early in the war... the F4U Corsair was available in early 1942 and had both the range, ceiling, firepower, and loiter time to escort the B 17 and B 24 aircraft. It had the same double wasp engine as the P 47 and 6 .50 machine guns. The Army rejected it as it was a "Naval aircraft "
Okay, so why MUST I not shoot a medic? I'll never understand these "sports" rules to war. You fight to win. A lot of soldiers get vengeful, not shy, once revived. It's better to give them a warriors death. Also a lot of anti-craft is "cheating" but designed for that purpose, strategy. Geneva suggestion baby, street rules, you know what's next.
I think both where necessary it made it to where Germany could not sleep and allow them to gdt some breathing room just the cause of 24/7 bombing would drive you insane
My great grandpa was a staff seargant tail gunner in a b17. He’s still alive today at the ripe age of 98. He told me the most eerie part of the war for him is when a b17 came back from a mission to replace a tail gunner that got shot up he had to sit in the dead tail gunners seat with bullet holes around him and blood everywhere still they didn’t even clean up the blood off the seat for him to sit in to go back up
Basically MAD just means say Russia is going to nuke America but they know America will nuke them if they nuke America and they don’t want to nuke America BECUASE they don’t want to get nuked but they really want to nuke America because it’s they’re enemy
the lancaster was a death trap. the pilot had a very low probability of escaping from a doomed aircraft. the American bombers allowed all the crew members a good probability of escape. also, the defensive armament of the American bombers when compared to the British bombers, i have only one questions. why did the british insist on using .303 MGs which could inflict no damage on an aircraft thru 1945? British area bombing inflicted very little damage on an industry. before you bring up the fire bombing of japan, you need to understand that in japan much of the manufacturing occured in small factories in peoples homes. also, the japanese cities were made of wood and paper. as to the lose rates, one has to understand what the goal was. in order to invade europe the allies needed to destroy the luftwaffe, this could not be done with the british night bombing. the US bombers were inflicting enough damage on germany to force the luftwaffe to oppose the raids, this allowed the escort fighters to destroy the luftwaffe in the air or on the ground.
