Hi! I'm Cal - and I'll teach you to make minibooks.
I'm a tea drinking, deep thinking, northern philosophiser who often meditates on the meaning of chocolate brownies.
If you like chatty but easy to follow classes for books that look like they were a lot more difficult to make than they were - with a sprinkling of cat and the occasional anecdote then I may be just the person for you. I teach online but also face to face and a lot of my tutorials are free to take part, so really you'd be daft not to give me a try!
I would like to purchase a Maker Mark tunnel tool. When I press on the link you provide I am taken to a page that says the domain has not been created. Help. Love the album.
Absolutely 💯 Love this Album Cal " The Little Things" Another one of my many Favourites of Cal's Designed Albums Cal certainly shows off the Graphic 45 papers at their best An Exemplary piece of Artwork! I just came across this wonderful, wonderful book and would love to receive the instructions for it. However, I don’t do Facebook. Is there, even after all these years, still a way to get the tutorial? Crafty greetings from Carmen, Germany 🇩🇪

Absolutely devastated that you’re not with us anymore Cal💔. May you rest in peace and your legacy live on for ever. Miss you my lovely and dear friend😢xxxx
Oh my Mrs S you've out done yourself, totally gorgeous & what a decision which collection, I had always wanted Vintage Library but seeing Alice has swung my decision to her & the cat! Maker Mark's additions are the best, I'd love to see them on the front of all my books as they add the a very chic finishing touch ❤❤❤
Where would I find the cutting guide for the travelogue book. I’ve made one and a delighted with it. Need to order card from you so the cutting guide would be helpful. I feel I should know where to look but having a senior moment…… Thank you in advance. Xx
It's a good question! It's all in Paper Scissors Story in the pinned post Minibooks and where to find them- funnily enough I've just been writing a post about it but fb is being difficult about posting it!
@@CalSummers thank you so much honey. I found it. Now just need my daughter to choose what she wants me to make it for so that I can buy appropriate paper pads. I’ve absolutely loved making this one so thank you again xx
Hi Debra, I appreciate the input but for many people my "chatting" is the only communication they get so I'm not going to change - spent too long working in social inclusion I'm afraid! Thanks for the point of the view though.
Geez, I have the attention span of a gnat these days.. I can't keep up with the time and missed you again.. But have watched the replay, it's going to be a cute little book.
This is amazing! You and Mark must have been busy little elves getting it ready. Sorry the tutorial isn’t available to buy but I understand your reasoning. Need to check out some other of your folios to buy
I shall have a play today - question tho, as 31 is an odd number do you want to include the pockets on the inside of the covers? The actual pages will need to be an even number so it will either be 32 or 30 with the two pockets. One you can use for just "general" stuff maybe?
@@CalSummers I’ve been thinking about that…I could use two envelopes for 25th, that would have me ending up on backside of envelope on day 31. Leaving pockets on inside covers free for whatever… I do not want to be a bother to you or cause extra work! You are so kind to do these classes. I think since you cut 6 hinge papers for 12 hinges = 24 pages, I should cut 8 hinge papers for 16 hinges = 32 pages? I assume I would start at 5 3/4 x 4, 5 1/4 x 4, and then follow your directions the rest of the way. The only thing I can’t figure out is how wide the spine chipboard should be…yours is I think 3 1/4 x 4 for 12 hinges so maybe 4 3/4 for 16? I thought maybe I should make all the hinges and put them together as you showed us, then add 1/4” to each side and cut the chipboard that size??? this is tricky for my brain to compute so I figured I might have to work backwards. Does that make sense?
