Guys just know that inhaling this and breathing super synthetic fragrances is really bad for your health. Even though i know it smells delicious, i stay away smelling these kinds of things all the time. Including air fresheners.
You’re welcome! Haha I haven’t had anyone mention that to me before but thanks! I get people telling me the way I speak is different but I’m guessing it’s because I’m Canadian and my viewers are mainly American 😅
If you’re polish is peeling off you need to to prep your natural nail better, it’s usually oils or dirt still on the nail or painting too close to the skin/cuticle that causes lifting and peeling. I personally don’t use a bonding polish (not familiar with this).
I use the revlon base coat and top coat and the black color was from a kit on Amazon that is linked in my description. I would recommend trying brands that are HEMA free to avoid exposure to too many chemicals.
I'm new to gel nail polish. I tried the nail clips and found them to be a hassle. I'll try the nail foils or tin foil. The metal cuticle pusher seemed to harsh so i bought some wooden sticks to try. Thanks for the video 🎉
If my nails are short do I still need to seal the top? It gets all over the top of my finger. I guess yes then use brush or stick to remove. But yes still seal if short?
If you have room then seal them other wise wait until your next application when your nails are slightly longer. The gel will help them grow with out breaking
I would recommend before applying acetone use a balm to lather all around your nail. I use lanolips 101 ointment or burrs bees cuticle balm AND also apply cuticle oil to the underneath of your nail. This will prevent dehydration from the acetone on your natural nail
1. cuticule oil (wipe off with acetone) 2. gel primer (basically dehydrator; viscose liquid) 3. base coat (from the top drag down the tip); feels sticky, don't touch it [cure] 4. colour coat (from the top drag down); 2 coats if needed [cure after each layer] - second coat trick: start at the top, drag down, at the end build extra ”layer” near the edge of your nail (dab it on) 5. top coat (swipe across the tip too) [cure]
Good summary but you’re missing a few key steps that ensure your nail plate is prepped correctly :) wouldn’t want people to think this is all that needs to be done for a 4 week mani :)
You know what, this actually seems super intuitive. I recently had acrylic nails French tip and when I got home it bothered me so much that the free edge wasn’t painted white too. I was like, if I did my nails I would do this so it looks better. I am going to start doing my own gel mani/pedis at home to save money! Thank you for the amazing tip and all around helpful video! ❤
Yes, if you just want clear then put 1 layer of base coat and 2 layers of top coat. Everything in this video is still relevant even though it’s from a few years ago :)
I do 60 seconds each time. You might have a top coat that needs to be wiped with alcohol. There are no wipe topcoat’s these days but some brands still sell a top coat that stays sticky until you wipe. That’s probably the issue! I have some gel polishes linked in my description if you want to try a no wipe one :)
Hello, my Name is Sam. My Precious Daddy called me Sam my entire life & I ask people to call me “Sam” in my Daddy’s Honor. He went Home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2022. Nonetheless, tonight, I asked Google this question: I asked: Does using a Gel Nail Polish & putting them under the light strengthen them? The reply I received was NOT what I was expecting…. In fact it scared me to be honest. The Article said the following: Gel nail polish can help strengthen your nails by creating a protective layer that reinforces your natural nails and makes them less likely to break. However, some say that the durability and protection of gel polish can also make your nails weaker and more prone to splitting. The American Academy of Dermatology also says that gel manicures can cause brittleness, peeling, and cracking. Repeated use can also increase the risk of skin cancer and premature skin aging on your hands. There were also 9 or 10 other reasons as to WHY you shouldn’t do the whole Gel thing. Forgive me please for commenting in this manner, however, I believe the Lord wants us to look out for one another. I strongly encourage you to read up on this. You’re more than welcome to email me if you’d like to about this. I didn’t know how to do this discreetly & I’m so Sorry. If this has damaged your Program in ANY way, I’d be happy to help you turn your Program around. Please know I come in Love & concern. You may email me at: tjweese7@gmail.com. God Bless you in the Greatest of His Abundance. In His Love, Sam 🙏
All the items I use are linked in the description portion of the video :) The majority of stuff is all available on amazon. Let me know if you still don't see it - I would be happy to send it to you directly.
I do not have a video on doing in fills. I am actually a fan of removing the gel and reapplying just to give your nails some air. I also like to cut and reshape prior to applying. But there are lots of great videos on doing a fill here on RU-vid. Just search for IBD gel fill :)
If you don’t know what to do get a spoon of salt and put a bit of water put it in a bowl mix it and get the salt and rub it on the bite leave it there for like 20 minutes without touching it at all and them it dries on there the water calms the itching down
That specific top coat I used was not a no-wipe top coat so it leaves a sticky residue that needs to be wiped. Now a days most top coats you buy are “no-wipe” meaning you can skip this step :)
Hi! Thank you for your video. I want to use builder gel to fill the dents in my thumb nails. Will it work for that? And for smoothing ridges? I don’t want to file down the ridges because my nails are already thin. Thank you
Yes since it’s self levelling it will fill in those ridges. If you have a dent you may need to apply more product in that spot and let it level out. You maybe also need a second application if the dent is quite big.
If it’s lifting at the cuticle it’s usually because it’s painted too close to your cuticle or touching it or because your nail plate wasn’t correctly prepped in that area so the polish isn’t adhering to your nail. Are you doing them at home or at a salon?
Me too! It is 2024 and i am planning to do the same operation since last 2 months! Have a wonderful balcony but can’t sit there cause it is too dusty, looking for an inspiration and you helped me a lot. Will follow the same steps! I wish you are still enjoying your beautiful balcony and wish me luck ❤ :D
Thanks for this! I just started the DIY nails journey and my first set didn’t last 😢 but your video has given me the confidence to try again! What times were you curing under the lamp for each step? I’m also thinking because of the shortness of my nails the capping was harder but I will give it another go! Thank you!!
You’re welcome! Yes give it another try! I cured for 60 seconds each time. If you keep applying gel your nails will have an extra layer of support and they will grow longer without breaking. That will make it easier to cap for your future gel polish applications :)
It’s hard to cap short nails, you should apply gel polish for a couple weeks and it will help your nails grow a little, then on the second application you will be able to cap them.
