Late on Christmas Eve,1914, men of the British soldiers heard German troops in the trenches opposite them singing carols and patriotic songs and saw lanterns and small fir trees along their trenches. Messages began to be shouted between the trenches. The following day, British,French and German soldiers met in no man's land and exchanged gifts, took photographs and some played impromptu games of football. They also buried casualties and repaired trenches and dugouts. The truce lasted for two days. When their superiors found out, they sent some soldiers away to other places, some ran to not have to fight any longer. The rest were shot right there and then for refusing orders to fight against those they had made friends with.
I didn't know that the audio logs was inspired by the book, that's so interesting. The way that the game was made I think it's brilliant. I hope that this new halo studios give us another odst game, would be awesome. Thanks for the video, nice content. 👍
Listened to so many reaction videos of A7X. It’s a testament to what they do that so many people focus on the lyrics when the music is honestly even better. But it would be nice to focus on the music sometimes guys…like it’s a song, not a poem.
The 75 Spartan II's where covertly kidnapped at the age of six(6) year old and replaced with diffective flash clones to cover it up. The Spartan III's where war orphans that the UNSC had taken from orphanegess with a forced enlightenment order because of the war or convicted them to volunteer to become Spartans with the promise of revenge for their friends and families!
The song is about two childhood friends that are inseparable and do all kinds of innocent mischiefs while growing up. They eventually go separate ways with their lifes then after few years reunite but one remains a kid in an adult body while the other has led life of crime and done unspeakable things. The former ends up realizing the childhood friend he knew is no longer but now he is so deep into his friend mess that's too late to redeem himself and would give everything to never have met him and get his life back. The evil friend sings the song.
The hold Origins 2 is pure fan service, The Frigates from Halo Reach, The Mack Cannon from Halo 2 that you can´t see how it fires, The covenant Scarab, Halo 3 Master Chief and Halo Wars armour for the marines, The fighters Longsword, The rifle BR55(one of the fans favorite) and the amazing Pelicans. All that and more, even in Origins 1 you can see the old Violet Cortana when she glithes.
Rob is becoming a natural Spartan 3, great vid guys. Thought I'd help clarify some of the terminology, the Winter Contingency for instance is part of the Cole Protocol, the set of rules laid out by Admiral Preston J Cole, probably the greatest tactical mind of the UNSC. Following the destruction of Harvest the UNSC needed to quickly come up with a way of safeguarding the locations of human worlds. The Covenant seemingly unstoppable in their advance would eventually find and destroy every human world in a matter of months and doing so with ease mainly by tracking human ships (especially effective against ships escaping a doomed world) or by homing in on the broadcast signal of a colony world's telecommunications, the latter was solved by saturating space with false broadcasts and colony chatter, drowning out the genuine signals. The more well known aspect of the Cole Protocol would condemn civilian slipspace travel meaning u could only travel via UNSC convoys or onboard a UNSC ship. If a Covenant ship is encountered, all navigational data would be purged whether its onboard a UNSC ship, orbital installation or planet side facility, if the UNSC space forces are outmatched against the enemy ships then every effort would be made to evacuate personnel before making a randomised slipspace jump away from the threat, the escaping ships would have to make a further series of random jumps before heading to a safe world to ensure that any following covenant ships would not be able to even get a general direction of what safe haven the human ships were escaping to, buying time for the UNSC (this measure bought nearly 3 decades). The Winter Contingency is a set plan in the event the covenant found a human world, the local space forces and weapons platforms would buy time, keeping the invading ships at bay so that any and all navigational data would be purged and steps would be taken to evacuate as many civilians and vital assets off world as possible.
I remember I asked my dad to play with me when I was 11 (not the age to be playing halo ik) and he just told me to play by myself cuz it was "too violent for him". This makes me feel like a "what if" scenario, like he was willing to play and Learn with me lol, love your vids.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoy! No judgement from me regarding the age to start playing haha, I was playing Halo by third grade so I was around age 8 if not earlier when I got started
I remember playing Halo when I was really young. One time I was in school and I remember talking to a friend about Halo (I think I was around 7) and a teacher had overheard me and became concerned because I was playing a "violent game" 😂 If only he knew I was saving the galaxy maybe he wouldn't be as concerned!
Great time watching, as always. Wanted to point out that to do an assassination, you can't simply punch - you have to HOLD the melee button for it to activate. I think there is also a pretty narrow hitbox in the back that you need to hit for it to work properly. Like the left sholder blade, or something.
1.) 6:05 Fun fact: Bungie made an anime brawler/shooter game (on PC) based off Ghost in the Shell. The title, Oni, was chosen because someone asked their wife what the Japanese word for ghost was, her answer was incorrect. Good luck finding it or getting it to work. 2.) 15:41 Fun fact: if Rob hasn't found out yet, the plasma pistol's charged shot can temporarily disable most vehicles. It's a tool worth considering when dealing with vehicles. 3.) 17:40 Rob has come quite a long way since playing the first game. 4.) 19:23 There's a video of all the radio chatter. What's being discussed are things happening outside of what we see. Hell, two guys were talking about zombie survival plans before boarding the Pillar of Autumn. 5.) 22:25 Armor lock is such a meme nowadays. 6.) 31:32 Rob forgot about armor lock...
Interesting fact regarding the title, haven't heard of that before. I'm not sure why the radios didn't play for us. But we will check it out in the summarized video anyway. Rob had a perfect opportunity to use armor lock there haha. In multiplayer, people either loved or hated armor lock, it was my favorite ability. Especially for luring boosting ghosts
@@x2zchat 1.) It's in Bungie's repertoire. Oni, like Marathon, didn't sweep the hobby quite like Halo. It's an old PC game that's unfortunately fickle to run on modern hardware due to a lack of a preservation project. (I might have misunderstood your comment here.) 4.) The radios take time (we're talking minutes) before you hear anything and they're so quiet in game that you might mistake it for ambient noise. There is a video out there that boosted the audio and added subtitle transcripts.
I believe Ben has stated that this song is about his struggle with alcoholism. This makes so much sense to me because it seems that this song represents two versions of himself. One that wants to be free and the other who is comfortable being a slave to alcohol. Ultimately concluding in the line “holding the hand that hold me down.” Which represents giving in to the temptation. Juxtaposed with “I forgive you, forget you. The end.” Which represents an overcoming of addiction and forgiveness of his former self. The metaphor of a bad relationship is perfect. Guy on the right was spot on at the end! Absolutely beautiful lyrics.
Evil angel= alcohol, Ben was fighting alcoholism, he said in one interview that he would drink until death. Depression + alcoholism is one of the worst problems to fight against, small amount of people survive that.
This i probably way to late but as a german I visited many sites of concentration and death camps and these places are just not meant for people to live there. When I was at Buchenwald it was like -21 celsius plus wind that was unbearable. And we had winter clothes. To think that people were ordered to live in these conditions with just rags, only proves the point that they were never planed to survive.
6:15 "[They're still here]..." 14:22 Something to point out to Rob: I think Kat (the character) speaks a different native language, which would explain her pronunciation of "colonel".
Hearing Rob talk about his friend getting emotional and even crying at video games made me think about Telltale’s The Walking Dead. It’s the one game that has and still gets me emotional to this day and I’d love to see him play the first season. It’s also an easy game for someone like him to pick up as it doesn’t require any specific skills to play outside of an having a good attention span and reading comprehension which he definitely has.
So heres a fun fact Noble 6 and Kat are both the only members of Beta Company on Noble Team but are also both the same ripe age of 22, three years younger than The Rookie and nearly 20 years younger than Master Chief! Jorge is the oldest member being the same as John as they are both Spartan II's, while Carter, Emile, & Jun are members of The Spartan III Alpha Company and have decently varied ages. This is due to each Company of Spartan III's being made up of spiteful war orphans between the ages of 6 to 12. Jun has a real bad habit of shooting me in the head just to kill a single grunt, I don't blame anyone for entirely forgetting his existence.
He’s showing improvement. The sword zealot fight was nail biting but he got him! That was a good headshot I must say. Paying attention to your tracker and your reticule is disorienting at times but very helpful for certain enemies like those sword elites. Jumping onto high objects can usually slow them down enough to take them out. A charged plasma pistol and a headshot weapon works very well too
I think it would be pretty far out from now when he is more used to everything. There is the idea of showing him multiplayer footage to react to however that was suggested
I don't know if Serge has ever played CE Legendary (I know Rob has) but the Zealots in that game on that difficulty were the equivelent of Halo 2 Jackal snipers. For reference, I think they take like 27 magnum shots just to break their shields. And Rob was having difficulty with them on Normal. Luckily the Zealots in this game aren't nearly as bad. They're more like story-involved minibosses, instead of the common enemies of CE.
I think it's important for Rob to use the DMR as much as possible, as it completely breaks the gameplay of every enemy that's not an Elite, Brute or Hunter as you can pretty much just one-shot them. In fact, with the Skirmisher Murmillonas (the ones with shields on their arms that don't appear until later in the game) a precision weapon appears to be the only way to kill them, at least in my experience. The needle rifle would be the best alternative if there isn't a DMR around. Just advice though, it's his choice.
I temember when this song first came out. I was in high school then. As a kid who was badly bullied by classmates and some family this song touched me deeply.
I heard recently (haven't had time to double check the actual lore) but Admiral Cole was 2nd in command of the Spirit of Fire before the Human Covenant war, under Captain Cutter. It makes sense that he would've found a way to mess with the Covenant and plan a contingency to slow their path to Earth after working with the Captain of the UNSC's oldest active ship
Dead who were never recovered from the trenches or no man’s land are still being excavated across the War Battlefields today. Towns in Canada also lost all their young men and became ghost towns.
Great reaction .. for both of you. I've never seen this, but I know the story as the beginning of the book First Strike. To my knowledge, no one ever found out that Johnson was a Spartan 1, but I am not an expert on ALL of the lore, I'm afraid. I feel like the one who hit the switch was Jenkins ... Now I have to reread First Strike cause the characters are excellent!!
